We ordered the prawn and pork dry noodle. One with the rice noodle and another with egg noodle. The sauce that they used contain lards which is great and what I think gave it that tasty flavour! Too bad that the pork slices in the noodle are tough, dry and tasteless.

We've tried almost all Vietnamese restaurants within 500m walking distance from North Richmond Station.
I had lunch with a group of mates who were identified as Rice Vermicelli lovers.
This time we wanted to try a new Vietnamese restaurant over our normal distance.
Checked my food apps and it came up in the first list "Thanh Phong", this restaurant actually had really good review.Alrightey, It's time to prove it!

We arrived to this restaurant and welcomed by a friendly wait staff.
The place was clean, modern interior design and bright.
The wait staffs were very attentive and service really good.

I know that many people would get confused when they go to Vietnamese restaurants as they do have many options with unfamiliar dish name.
Don't worry when you come to this restaurant, the friendly wait staff would narrow it down for you and just have a look for the options that you feel like without you even ask for it.

I ordered rice vermicelli with shredded pork and spring rolls for $12.00.
The food came pretty fast and everything was served hot, fresh and good presentation.
Ohh apparently in this restaurant, the wait staff would give you the options to choose whether you want to go with chicken or pork spring rolls unlike surrounding Vietnamese restaurants.
The portion was generous enough and shredded pork was tasty and not dry.
Spring rolls were well fried, seasoned and served crispy. It was very crunchy outside and tender inside - amazing.

Overall, we had a great time having lunch in Thanh Phong. The food had great taste, good quality with reasonable price.
Definitely happy to recommend this place.

After being mesmerized by The Gertrude Street Projection Festival, on our way back home, we ended up going to this eatery for dinner by fluke.

Ended up ordering Lemon Chicken, Stir Fried Curry Beef, Stir Fried Squid and Vegetable and Special Fried Rice. We were served complimentary Tea during our wait for the food.

The very friendly Manager / Attendant managed to get our order in 5 minutes time and oh Boy, everything was so perfectly cooked and tasted yum.

The dishes of the day were the Fried Rice, Stir Fried Squid and Curry Beef. Both the stir fries were cooked to perfection, lightly spiced and were totally flavorful. Fried Rice was sauted in a dash of oil with chicken and Shrimps had very distinctive flavor to it and was a beautiful dish in itself.

Lemon Chicken was a very tasty crispy chicken served with lemon sauce that was sweet and sour.

The courteous Manager / Attendant, realizing that we were Indians, served three types of chillies to satiate our yearning for spicy food.

The place was crowded and noisy on a Saturday night and the table and chairs little uncomfortable for a group of 4 but all was forgotten the moment food was served.

Thang Phong is a pocket friendly eatery that serves good Vietnamese food and we wouldn't mind going there the next time.

This place was Pho-real, growing up in Melbourne, this is the taste of Melbourne Pho, I love it. Portions are good, perfect for a weekend lunch if you’re strolling through Richmond Victoria St. Broken rice was accompanied with the meat cake, something that a lot of vietnamese places don’t include these days and its a shame because it is mad delicious. We also went for the prawn spring rolls, and didn’t regret at all. Nice flavours and a food experience that will make you want to go back for dinner.

I went here a couple of weeks back with a friend for lunch on a Sunday. Our criteria for finding a restaurant was 1. must be Vietnamese cuisine (due to cravings) and 2. must have eftpos facilities. The latter criteria ruled out quite a few Vietnamese restaurants along Victoria street but then we found this place. It was reasonably full which we also took to be a good sign. We got decently priced Bun Bo Hue and a coca-cola each. The Bun Bo was excellent, huge portion, tasted great, warmed my soul. Service was efficient. I didn't take too much notice of the decor because I was eagerly shovelling the food into my face, so I guess the decor isn't noticeably offensive to the eyes. I do recommend this place for a good feed.

Great cheap fast Viet food. We tried the combination broken rice and so far this place serves the dish best on Victoria St. Pork chop was well marinated and fish sauce was light and balanced. The place is clean as well.

Can't go wrong with Vietnamese on Victoria Street; in fact, many can rival those in Footscray. Thanh Phong is one of the more consistent ones and also one of the cleaner ones on Victoria Street. Their menu run the gamut from pho to broken rice to congee and to numerous cooked to order dishes. It will probably take me a year to try everything on the menu. Creatures of habit that we are, we tend to gravitate towards the broken rice. The grilled pork is the star of the dish - never dry, succulent and full of flavour. Service can be a bit abrupt, the man manning the floor looks like he is always rushing to get back to watching the tv.

My go to favourite in Victoria st. Been coming for 20 years and love the place. Family run - lovely family who hand make all the rolls and dumplings (you almost always see them sitting at the front table near the kitchen rolling spring rolls by hand). I've lived and travelled in multiple countries and hands down these guys still make the best prawn spring rolls I've had. My other favourite is their 'Thanh Phong' special egg noodle soup with seafood - just fab. Their Vietnamese pancakes, meat prawn on sugar cane and crispy quail are all superb. Highly recommend.
