This place looks popular for business lunch.
The chicken Katsu Sandwiches was crispy and quite enjoyed it.
Short black was beautiful and my liking. I think it was Columbian coffee.
Latte art looked perfect and strong latte tasted very milky. They made another beautiful latte art but it tasted light roasted coffee. The best way to order 3/4 next time for myself.
Friendly staff and service was greatš
Northcote has so many great cafes and visited a new one today! This cafe was bustling for Friday lunch and was glad to be seated at a table. Service was quick, staff were very friendly and they had a great system to abide by the new regulations.
I order an oat latte for the first time and liked the different taste of the milk as I usually used to soy. Food wise I had the bircher muesli which was packed with fruit, nuts yogurt and topped with chocolate pieces which was a nice touch.
Keen to try their savoury dishes next time as they have a great menu!
Bicycle thieves is a bright vibrant cafe with wonderful staff and a vast menu filled with dishes that offer something different from a breakfast ramen to a roasted pumpkin salad. You can find exactly what tickles your fancy here.
I opted for an almond milk chai latte. It was perfect. Probably in the top five chai lattes I have had in Melbourne, it was perfectly smooth.
Food I went for an egg white omelette with miso baked salmon and it was ace. The portion size was spot on with two slices of sourdough, a full salmon fillet baked inside the omelette and the omelette itself was big! There was additions of kimchi which added the kick the omelette needed as well as some picked veggies and spinach.
It was great. Friendly staff, good buzz about the place and tasty food.
Iāve wanted to go back to Bicycle Thieves cafe since I first saw the Breakfast ramen. So off we went!
My partner and I had a strong almond latte each and they were both really tasty. Ok we are off to a great start here.
The service was excellent, friendly and the food came out really quick. My breakfast ramen had pork belly, shiitake mushrooms, chilli pangritata, a poached soft egg, boo choy, spring onion, ramen noodles, ramen noodles. Everything was soo tasty, the broth was delicious and the pork belly soft and juicy. I absolutely loved this dish!!
My partner had some crispy potato Rƶsti, smoked salmon, avocado, herb Creme friache, 2 poached eggs and pickled onion. This dish disappeared in what appeared to be seconds so there was no doubt it was yummy hahaha.
This cafe is still awesome and definitely worth a visit!
Early 2019
I was fortunate enough to be invited to visit Bicycle Thieves for brunch. Walking into this cafe is was packed which was a great sign, especially given the amount of cafes along High St.
This is a large contemporary cafe with neutral colours and it's modern industrial. With wheelchair access this place is accessible and there is ample street parking. With communal tables, single seating and tables for 2 this place caters for everyone.
I ordered a chicken burger which came with a potato bun, which was soft and light. The burger was served w crispy chips and a crispy lettuce salad to balance the heat ... phew hahaha
My partner ordered chilli scrambled which was delicious and the eggs were fluffy and the spice was initially mild but it certainly crept up on you. Yummo
The crowd was really mixed w people of all ages and the Dukes espresso coffee has a nice earthy flavour
This is definitely one place to visit!
Good menu. Good kids menu too! Coffee is good.
The aesthetics & vibe of this place was great, the menu was exciting and coffee was on the money, unfortunately I have to say the waitress serving us was really rude which was a bummer. The food was good, the egg white omelette had tons of flavour and the pulled pork was delish. Overall worth visiting.
Busy place. Service was very efficient despite how busy it was, coffee was great. Food was a bit of a let down, had the schnitzel?, or something. It was pretty bland, despite looking great. It might seem harsh to judge on just the one meal. Would return to try other things.
Great local cafe to hang out with friendly service. We tried the Vietnamese salad that came with a generous portion of chicken and was tasty. The coffee was good.
First time today and we will be back. The best breakfast weāve had in a long time. High quality and very generous servings. Cauliflower fritters were unbelievable as was the egg white and salmon omelette. Coffee was perfect temp. Staff fantastic. Ambience great. Couldnāt fault a thing. Packed out which is expected with this high quality cafe. Sorry thereās no photos but it was just so good we didnāt have time for a photo!

Service was outstanding
Fit out is gorgeous
Food was very good
Coffee very good
Iām actually not to sure what is stopping it being higher, but something is!
Had a fantastic experience
Brunch is a busy time for Northcote cafes and this one is no exception. The big inside area means that you won't have to wait long for a table, if you visit during peak times. The food is contemporary Australian and has a few influences from Asia, America and some fusion styles. The portions are decently sized and prices are standard for the area. Most full sized items are $20+
The service is very good even when the place is busy. Staff are polite, knowledgeable and efficient. They let our table split our bill too, which was nice.
I had the brisket special with corn bread. It was delicious but needed more sauce. The bread was a little dry.

Nice ambience and services. I had the mee goreng jaffle with super side salad - absolutely loved the salad but the jaffle was unfortunately not for me (but definitely worth trying tho!). I have tried all the jaffles they offer; the winner for me is the potato bravas. The cubano toastie was above average. Always order a mocha here as it is very good.
Went for brunch on a Saturday morning, really good variety on the menu, but I chose the special, which was a crumpet benny on in house crumpets - it was delicious and the added pickles had the perfect crisp acidity to cut through the fat š¤š»
Perfect coffee blend and food was tasty! Melbourne offers a great range of coffee spots, and being a coffee connoisseur myself, I highly rate this place! š
The BLAT sandwich was delicious & full of flavour. Friendly staff and the menu looks like something to come back and explore. Great first visit here!
Good presentation, good service. Coffee is average. Mushroom on toast was amazing, salmon pastrami looked great but taste was ok
Coffee was really good and yum crumpets! Need to try their other food
The food was absolutely amazing. Well done kitchen staff. On the other hand the service was substandard. VERY unfriendly staff that clearly have forgotten the basic rules of hospitality. It doesn't take much to smile nor be personable. Very disappointing especially considering the food was exceptional.
