If I could give it minus 9000, I would. Where to begin. It's xmas eve and we just wanted to order takeaway to complete a quite night in. What we recieved was $50 of flavourless, burnt, totally inedible food that so sadly had to be put to waste. Burnt noodles. The dumplings were supposed to be fried but were doughy and the mixed contents inside, unknown to what they should taste like. The two mains were just mortifying mush.
In all honesty you must go elsewhere. This place is an insult to the chinese cuisine and to the owner you should choose a new profession. This may seem harsh and I almost never write a review but I question how this place is still open.

Very nice service and best Chinese food in the valley area, we have the warm soup and best dumplings and stir fried vegetables after the puffing billy train day trip, thanks for the services and will come again.

Usually, ok
I’m times of peak trade (Mother’s Day) they lose any ability to answer phones or respond to customer queries, despite being obverse an hour outside quoted delivery window.
Has to collect ourselves, with no remediation provided.
Ok food, but won’t be back…

Was looking for quality dumplings, certainly didn't find them.
Taste like they are reheated from frozen. The pastry tasted raw, like they were microwaved poorly. Rating 3 out of 10. As had way better for way less.
Will keep searching.....

Had the sweet and sour pork with rice and the Xiao Long bao(pork dumplings).
Sweet and sour pork was nice but pork dumplings broke and didn’t have soup on the inside

Best Chinese food in Melbourne especially if you’re looking for Vegetarian as they’ve got plenty of options. Had fried vegetarian dumplings and vegetarian soup. It was so far the best I’ve tried in Melbourne! Must visit if you’re coming to Dandenong!!

Dumplings are best in area, always great.
Fried rice and stir fries certainly not at the same standard.
Nice people, decent delivery times.

Sorry we've tried time and time again. Tonight's meal was delivered soggy and lacking in flavour. For the price it's just not a good choice. We tried calling last time to say the order was wrong but they didn't understand. Today the only good dish was half the normal size and nearly cold. Will order elsewhere next time and let this local previous gem fade away.

New owners? We have watched this little shop change hands many times over the last 20 years. We are both keen cooks and have commented after our last three eat-in visits that the food is currently close to perfection. Well done.. look after your current cook.

Ordered the vegetable Korean soup which was lovely. Warming and full of flavor and crunchy fresh vegetables. Ordered pan fried pork dumplings. These were ok. Not wonderful not terrible nice enough. Service prompt and friendly. Friend ordered steamed dumplings and said they were just ok. Value for money if eating off lunch menu.

was there after thousand steps, I was my friends, we all love dumplings, so we ordered the panfried pork dumpling, spring onion pancake, shanghai dumplings, and black pepper beef on rice. they were about the normal price (compared to cbd and clayton) but the food was absolute not acceptable. (I think the pork dumplings are frozen dumplings you get from supa), sping onion pancake had no spring onion nor flavour (I make better ones at home), shanghai dumplings were ok but you can get better ones in cbd or clayton, black pepper beef came in really small portion.

wouldn't recommend at all.

Ordered delivery yesterday and it was pretty good. Loved the spring rolls and wontons, roti was nice too, noodles were a little bland and oily but still alright. I'd like to see vegan Singapore noodles, vegan kimchi and vegan fried rice added to the menu.

I really enjoy ordering take away from here. Small, family run business. Great veggie menu. I love the veggie steamed dumplings. Always friendly and helpful.

Got take out from here last night.. waited an hour and the food was absolutely disgusting! Spring onion pancake was overcooked and so tough it was like chewing a brick. The vege and tofu had a rancid smell almost like old meat???? Totally inedible. Never again.

I like their dumplings, sweet and sour pork, delicious and quickly, good shop, I like it........................btw the wonton soup is good.

Got the vegetarian wonton soup. Filling was OK but the wonton skin was way too thick and undercooked. The "vegetarian soup" was probably just powdered vege stock or at least that's what it tasted like. Very disappointing meal.

I spent over $40 for two people. Male and Female. I had to stop at a pie shop afterwards because I was still hungry. Small meal sizes fit for children only.

Got take away Pork & Veg Steamed Dumps and Satay Chicken Skewers. The satay is one of the best I've had. Dumps were very tasty but the dough/casing a little too thick. Cooked well though. Will try some of the mains another time

It's a shame the friendliness and the enthusiasm of the staff doesn't translate into excellent food. The dumplings aren't bad, they are okay. Skins are probably a little thick. Comparing the price to other dumpling houses, this place is at the higher end. Place is clean. The condiments that in other places usually sit on the table in grimy bottles, come in your own little serving bowls which is a nice touch.

Delicious! Would definitely recommend.
Staff are friendly, enthusiastic and are willing to make orders more customisable.
And the food is delicious. The Vegetarian Mushroom buns are AMAZING!
They are updating their menus sometime after mothers day so I'm super excited to see what new yummy things they are adding to the menu!

Have eaten take away from here twice now and both times it was absolutely perfect. I don't know why people are saying it's expensive, $10 bucks for 10 dumplings? Seems great to me! I am a huge fan of dumplings and it is great to have some so close to home 😊
The service here is absolutely great, very friendly people and amazing food! My new favourite!!!

This was probably the worst Asian I have eaten in Australia. Severely over-priced for what you get. We spent just under $50 for 2 people and I had to stop in Upwey on way home to grab a meat pie as I was still hungry.

Lily in the Valley lives up to its tranquil and inviting name. It is a lovely, small restaurant with a welcoming vibe created by its enthusiastic and friendly owners. We couldn't help ourselves and had to order a second plate of the delicious vegetarian dumplings! The tea was presented in very pretty pot. The décor is fresh, clean and sweet. The atmosphere could be improved by dimming the lighting as it was too bright and detracted from the otherwise warm atmosphere. We will definitely be going again for our dumpling fix!

The staff who run the place are friendly and bubbly, making the experience of being in a tiny shop front more than a pleasure.
The tea collection, while not massive, has plenty on it and for a great price.
The dumplings were hand made (and the impression we received was that they were made to order) fresh and delicious. While slightly on the expensive side (but not massively) for dumplings, it was well worth it to not have to travel closer into the city for fresh, hot and delicious dumplings. (If you're a sweet tooth, we recommend the pumpkin dumplings for a final hoorah. )

The place has the space for about 12 people at most, and as we went at 6:30pm on a Wednesday night, the place was full with people occasionally waiting 5 -10 minutes for a table to clear.
Keep in mind that they keep the place fairly cool, possibly to compensate for the kitchen out back - so just make sure to take a jumper or jacket with you.

There is plenty of parking due to it being in the shopping centre, or there is the pub carpark across the road if need be.

We will be back in no time! Thanks to the crew there for such a delightful experience.

Stumbled across this place recently with my wife for dinner. It's a very small cafe style Chinese-fusion restaurant with a modern and clean feel. The service is very good and the owner/manager is efficient and very friendly. The presentation of the food was very good - even the beautiful teapot with the generously-leafed Chinese tea - although I've had better tasting food and the price was on the high side for an outer-suburbs restaurant. It was also too bright in there with both ceiling downlights and pendants turned on, but I appreciate they're a new restaurant and still finding their feet, and once I asked if they could be dimmed it had a much better ambience.
We had peking duck wraps (very well balanced, tender meat and tasty - 8.5/10), pork spring rolls (bit oily but otherwise not bad (7/10), Grandma's king prawn spring rolls (very different / interesting, but enjoyable - 7.5/10), steamed dim sims (bit bland, corriander-infused dipping sauce was odd - 6.5/10), honey pepper beef fillet with broccoli (bland and lacking in flavour, broccoli was cooked perfectly but without any flavour whatsoever, and the sauce from the meat was too watery and flavourless to season, but the onions were good - 6/10), and Singapore noodles (decent, but average - slightly bland - 6.5/10). However, all dishes were well presented and my wife thought it had a really nice atmosphere (personally I prefer the dimly-lit 80s-and-in-need-of-renovation traditional Cantonese restaurants). We didn't finish everything and the manager even gave us some complimentary bbq pork buns to take home with the leftovers which were great (8/10). I love Cantonese food and we regularly eat at Chinese restaurants (I have tried almost all within a 10km range). I can think of a handful of places off the top of my head with better food / value but would probably go back as my wife liked it, and it's nice to support new and upcoming small businesses. I imagine other people who like more modern / fusion restaurants would rate this much higher. Worth a visit - try for yourself!
