Review Industry Beans Lt. Collins - Melbourne

Jimmy LEE
As of today, a quality of roast coffee beans from the Industry Beans is one of the best in Australia. Swing by this city store located in Lt. Collins street every morning is a joy of opening the new day in Melbourne CBD. Staffs are very professional, welcoming and friendly. Nothing to add for roasted coffees in this store as I believe this is the top quality. The taste is full of aromatic, smooth, and tempting flavor. Recommended!

The customer service was friendly and no complaints there. The quality of the soy flat white I ordered wasn't the best unfortunately. The take away cup was almost too hot to hold, the coffee was too hot to drink, the coffee was a bit too bitter for my taste and the soy milk had "curdled". Judging by the other reviews it looks like it's a hit more than it is a miss - so your experience may differ!

Tried a few places while in Melbourne and this store definitely had one of the best tasting coffees around. The store has a lovely atmosphere, cool minimalistic aesthetic and friendly staff. Would recommend the "Fitzroy Iced".
Sonia
Nice professional coffee I got, coffee is sour and strong and fully feeling full taste of body once breaking crema for the first sip.

My absolute favourite place to buy coffee beans from. Not only is shipping always so quick, they’re coffee is of the highest quality. I recently ordered their new Fitzroy Iced Coffee to try it and it tastes wonderful!! Will definitely be restocking when I run out. Will continue to purchase from Industry Beans for years to come. They’re the absolute best.

Famous coffee brand in Melbourne. Must visit. I loved their long black. Strong and tasty. not bitter at all. The staff are amazing. Specifically the barista guy. He was very welcoming and friendly.

Nice and clean interior. I found the regular coffee pretty good but do not bother with bubble cup it's not worth it.

Update Dec 2021: Coffee was good and the staff are friendly. I would happily have coffee here if I was in this part of the city. Check out the updated pics! Ok coffee and great interior fitout... It looks very promising so I might check it out later to see if the coffee is any better the second time... Second visit and the coffee was a smidge better so I chucked on another star. I reckon it can still be better though 😉

I went to grab a coffee and the man w a beard who served me couldn’t manage a a smile or a verbal response to my hello. Obviously I wasn’t cool enough lol<br/><br/>Then I asked for a piccolo latte and was told it was $4.50 what the ?<br/><br/>When I said $4.50 for a piccolo he said yep!! <br/><br/>Don’t go here if you want service.

Didn’t feel like a stressful breakfast at The Westin. Just don’t like the vibe of hotel breakfasts and putting up with other people’s ways this early in the morning.<br/><br/>Sunday morning in Melbourne CBD is like a ghost town. Finding a quick breakfast and coffee is not as easy as a week day. <br/><br/>Choice for food is very limited here though involving choice of two croissants and a sandwich. Coffee was pretty decent.<br/><br/>What impressed me was the use of sound proofing as a feature giving the space a minimalistic look.<br/><br/>Take note establishments of SYDNEY sound proofing does exist and people like to talk and not be forced to shout!

Visit this place many time. A petite coffee bar in the city, coffee focus, offers pastries, great place for quick coffee break. Nice service, the staffs are very friendly and welcoming. Had many nice experience here.

Nice little cozy cafe with few seats. Ordered cold brew single origin. It has a nice cacao taste, not too acidic and very light. Really refreshing for hot weather. <br/>

I wanted to have a cuppa in store but the guy didn't ask me and came in a paper cup. The coffee didn't taste as good as I hear.<br/>$5 peanut butter brownie was pretty good, very sweet though.
Alfred
Nothing short of exceptional, but be warned, this place is for coffee, NOTHING else, but if you are a coffee fiend this is a sure bet for guaranteed excellence in Melbourne coffee practices.<br/><br/>It is also stylishly designed with the new modbar under counter machines which are just sexy as espresso pulling gets.<br/><br/>Only downer is they don't take cash, c'mon guys what happens when that unbanked melbite wonders in with his gold coins in a little string tie satchel, I often don't carry a card and it was fortunate my partner was with me.
Sunny Days Melbourne
We were really looking forward to trying the coffee at Industry Beans after hearing so many good things about it. They certainly did not disappoint. <br/><br/>We had a cappuccino and a Bubble Cup original. The cappuccino was full of roasted coffee flavour and the milky froth on top was delicious. I wasn't a fan of their sago in the Bubble Cup but the drink itself was sweet and satisfying. I still prefer the good old black pearls. <br/><br/>This is an excellent place to get a reliable good drink on the go.
Little Bit Of Everything
Industry Beans Lt. is one of my favourite coffee stops. I like trying out coffee&#039;s from different cafes and speciality stores. They have really cool and simplistic interiors. I admire the fact that they dont take cash. ive physical receipts, every little bit counts and makes a difference. Note that they don&#039;t take cash which shouldn&#039;t be a big issue as we live in a world of smartphones. <br/><br/>I generally get their cold brew which tastes delicious. Their protein balls and Almond croissant is a must to try. Quick and friendly service.

Delicious and smooth coffee in bright white cafe on Little Collins street. You cannot miss this place as it stands out amongst the darker corners of Little Collins. Perfect spot to sit and people watch!

I came here as part of the Ritual promotion and paid $1 for a gluten-free peanut butter brownie which is normally $5. I was super impressed with it. It's got the same texture and consistency as a non gluten-free brownie and the portion is bigger than what you get at other places. For this price, it's an absolute bargain. It's a truly delicious brownie that was moist and not too sweet. Definitely recommend. I took away the brownie but the place looks bright, sleek and clean.<br/><br/>P.S I cut the brownie in half then realised I didn't take a picture!<br/><br/>By the way, if you're not on the Ritual app yet, you can redeem meals for $1 each until 28th June and you get $10 credit if you use my code CHERYL50296. You're welcome!

I chose to come to this cute little cafe after reading some of the reviews here and also because of the $5 welcome gift on their app. The staff was really friendly. I tried their original bubble cup and almond croissant. There's a small area to eat, but most people take away. The bubble cup is interesting, with small tapioca. The paper straw makes it a bit hard to suck them up. I think I'll bring my reusable straw next time. The ice coffee is not overly sweet like most bubble tea, which is good.
Food For Thought
A lovely futuristic cafe with a modern white setup. I love trying coffee in different places in Melbourne and this was definitely one high up on my list. Will definitely return again.

You'd think a place advertising itself as coffee only would know how to make a long black. Watery, thin - really terrible. I'd advise hiring a barista.

Overall score: 19/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️<br/>in 5 words: they take their coffee seriously!<br/>*<br/>Taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- i always order a skinny flat white so if that is not your preferred drug, this may not apply. Good coffee after taste, very yummy milk, they managed to balance the caffeine and milk well (a flat white always has the risk of tasting too milky. Only good cafes preserves coffee flavour and intensity in spite of the milk composition! YUMMY<br/>*<br/>Ambience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- the coffee stop maintains an almost all white design, not many seats available. Not a lot of food selection but you can takeaway a croissant/pastries<br/>*<br/>Presentation⭐️⭐️⭐️ - can’t comment on presentation cos coffee is in the cup.<br/>*<br/>Price ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- a regular coffee costs you $4.50 which isn’t the cheapest. BUT if you download their industry beans app, your first coffee is free! Plus, you get to collect points. I love the convenience and how they levelled up the customer experience through the option of ordering ahead of time.<br/>*<br/>Service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- i got my coffee in almost record time, barista remembers my name (always a plus point when people in the service industry do that!)

Ordered a cap and a Fitzroy Iced Coffee. Cap was just fine (too much bubbles, not smooth enough), but the Fitzroy nailed it! Fresh, with very mild taste...feeling like a breeze after an afternoon workout.
Quince And Cheese
Had a very nice coffee on my way into work. Staff were a bit abrupt but otherwise friendly. If you haven't been, check out their interesting setup of individual shot stations rather than one large machine. This place has obviously got their system down to an exact science and it works for them.

This location is very easy to find just off Elizabeth street. It’s rather small but very clean. It doesn’t offer much seating but it doesn’t feel suffocating and cramped. We tried their on tap cold brew (both the regular w/ milk and the other in their bubble cup version) and both were extremely delicious and unlike other cold brews. Their bubble cup drink is sweeter and has an obvious texture from the consoy tapioca pearls and it’s very refreshing on a hot day where you’d still like to enjoy some coffee. They have an app with a free $5 credit for new users which you can use to order ahead if you’re on a time crunch! I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quick pick me up ANY time of the day (within operating hours of course!)

Good spacious place with nice ambience, Industry Beans offers you good brunch menu with amazing coffee.<br/>Food presentation is beautiful with delicious taste.<br/>Overall dining experience was okay, although the staff could be more friendly though :/

My go to place for my coffee hit at mid-morning and it sure hits the spot. App is easy to use. Quick friendly service ... just hope the customers get the cards out earlier before payment to speed up the process!
Juhi- Culture And Cuisine
Hands down one of the best coffees I have had in Melbourne. Perfectly, smooth and strong and simply amazing!<br/><br/>Also love the beauty of Industry Beans. A very pretty place for coffee!

It is actually a nice small space to have a coffee break. The coffee is nice and I also like the croissant. Staffs are friendly and it‘s never get too packed, so I like to chill and enjoy my break there.
Mustard
No real brunch items here, just a caffeinated beverage stop with nibbles. You can also get a bubble cup which is their take on bubble tea. It's cold brew mixed with condensed milk as a sweetener, soy milk and coffee soaked tapioca pearls. <br/><br/>You have to give it a good mix which was difficult with the paper straw which broke due to the sharp plastic lid opening, they need an open lid (I've seen a different lid on different articles). Initially I got a lot of sweetness due to it not being mixed well but I really enjoyed the fruitiness of the blend and it was quite refreshing. Thankfully it wasn't overly sweet and didn't mask the coffee's characteristics (I probably sucked up all the condensed milk at the start). The tapioca pearls is not comparable to actual bubble tea pearls, they are small and soft (not in a bad way) rather than large and bouncy.<br/><br/>Worth a try? Yes.<br/>Worth the price? Pushing it.<br/>Bubble tea or Bubble cup? They're different, but bubble tea.<br/><br/>I'd come back for their cold brew however, that stuff is great.
Fulloffood
Very minimalistic place. Staff was friendly and service was fast. Ordered a black coffee that was slightly sour, but had a nice light fruity taste. BTW they only accept card payments, but that's perfectly all right for me.
Jessica
Pretty place but honestly had one of the rudest workers served us. we requested to have some sugar in our cold brew and he responded super judgementally asking “are you sure you want sweetener?” and then literally threw a packet of equal on the bench to my boyfriend.<br/>such a bad attitude, i also work in coffee and i would never respond in such a way to a customers request that made them feel belittled. people are 100% entitled have their coffee however they like and shouldn’t feel judged about it. considering they are paying, i see this kind of thing often and it’s ridiculous and unnecessary. work on your customer service if your going to be in the industry. <br/>
Some Bunee Loves Food
I love their coffee here. The flat white is good, non bitter but still have the coffee flavor and no sugar required. I do not like their bubble tea though.

Best coffee in the CBD!<br/>Consistently good coffee and very friendly staff. Cold brew coffee was delicious on a hot day, also had the Fitzroy Iced with almond milk which was great.

Visit this cafe last Tuesday and the service from this friendly (& good looking) team was perfect! <br/>Coffee was also amazing! Must try the food there next time, the vegan protein balls looked yummy!

Found out that Industry Beans serve Bubble Cup Coffee and there was a store in the CBD.. I couldn’t wait to try this cold drink since the weather was getting warmer.. I ordered the salted caramel as the staff claims that is their best seller for bubble cup series.. you will need to stir it quite well before drinking otherwise you will get whole mouthful of caramel in your mouth and it’s just so sweet.. when you stir it well.. it tastes a lot better.. the coffee taste is decent & what I do not like is the tapioca balls in the drink which are a lot smaller than regular “bubble teas” this small tapioca balls are not chewy and makes it feel like you have a mouthful of soft wet flour.. it was quite disappointing..
Vick Eats
Novel cafe, I tried the bubble tea, and I definitely would not recommend. Overly sweet and not pleasing to the palette, nothing to rave over. The staff even made one of the flavours incorrectly.
Tinmans Treats
I wanted to try the iced coffee with tapioca pearls. Kind of like bubble tea but hipster. To be fair, its only marginally more costly than a bubble tea but you get good coffee/caffiene fix, and some tasty pearls. Would be great on a hot day.
Notaregularfoodie
Ordered a Salted Caramel drink. It didn’t taste like salted caramel at all. All I tasted was the bitterness and that’s it. No sweetness or soy milk just like what the lady said.

I visited at around twelve. Due to the photos of food on Zomato, I thought that they would be serving cooked prepared food. However, this is not the case. They serve coffee and have a small cabinet with prepared rolls, sandwiches, raw balls and cupcakes. <br/><br/>The place is cute, modern and in a killer location.  <br/><br/>Coffee was well prepared but one of those too-much-milk coffees that is spreading like a plague throughout Melbourne. It might be just the beans they use or the roasting, but it was a mehh coffee, totally postmodern meeeh. <br/><br/>I tried one of their cranberries raw balls, and I have to say it was absolutely delicious, filling, filled with goodness, totally tasty, not greasy and not sweet. One of the best raw balls ever! <br/><br/>Staff were underwhelming, reactive to any comment or action,. Thank gosh for Mr "Skinny Water', who understood what customer service is all about.  <br/><br/>MIND<br/>No large size coffee cups or takeaways. <br/>No cash accepted. That's right!<br/>Receipts on paper not given. If you want yours, you add your email and they email it to you.

4.5<br/><br/>I am a big fan of their cold brew bubble cup. Today, I got to try the salted caramel bubble cup, which I ordered in advance through their app. I think it was pretty good, something to change it up. It feels like a westernised version of Asian bubble tea (which I love). <br/><br/>Their coffee has been consistently good so that's another plus!

Nice space, but my soy latte was not properly made. The staff are nice, but not as nice as other cafes’. The girl who was serving me greeted me not in the most welcoming way. The staff also talks amongst themselves a bit too loudly. I’ll keep coming in every now and then, but hope to see improvements.

Very nice designed cafe. Simple but fashion. I am in love with the coffee machine as my job is a barista as well. It looks beautiful. A lot of different options of coffee. Also many beans different that you can choose to buy. I had a cold drip, it was nice and strong flavour. Waitress is friendly. Will be back for coffee for sure.
Pandy
Modern interior with under-the-counter espresso machine which made the bar look very slick and streamlined. But what about the coffee you’re asking?? Well I have to say the coffee can be good one day and sub-par the next day. Same goes for the service.
Custardbun
The coffee has been consistently good, but I prefer my flat white without a dose of attitude! The baristas are super friendly, especially the guy with the beard. However, when the waitress taking my order rolls her eyes at me because my friend and I want to enjoy our coffees in the cafe, rather than to go (she had started writing our orders on a takeaway cup), I make a mental note to go to one of the many other decent cafes in the vicinity the next time I need my daily caffeine fix.
Charlene
No doubt great coffee and atmosphere/interior, however the customer service is appalling, compared to other cafes with equally good or better coffee. Total lack of enthusiasm and interest to engage/serve (wasn’t even busy!) - i will give it a pass next time.
Lovelovekc26
I don’t even like coffee, but I find myself going here every week! Why?! For the gluten free peanut butter & chocolate brownie! Seriously the best dam thing on this planet 🤤🤤🤤 The staff are always super friendly too!

Came here few times with my mom when she was in Melbourne. Lovely place and staff. Always pool of people order here, tbh I really love their latte and flat white. My Top5 in Melbourne for sure hahah.
Ivy
I went there so many times when the shop just opened, the coffee were very good. Recently every time tried the coffee, not even can compare with the coffee shop near around that used the same bean. Preferred taste does up to personal, but service is making me kinda disappointed. I asked a warm soy coffee, at the end has been ignored and without apologize, and even heard the barista whispered to mocked at my order.... Actually she burnt the milk last time therefore I ordered warm on purpose this time. Never ever take risk in this shop again.
Cookielessvee
Amazing coffees. Service is great and the interior is clean and modern. The bubblecup is cold dripped coffee with tapioca balls which melt in the mouth. Coffee is smoothe and well made.

Came down to see this awesome set up and I was really impressed! My coffee had some really nice notes to it and what made this a pretty good experience was a hi and bye! Not many places nail both

Ventured down after reading about it from social media. First impressions is the interior design is wow. White walls with soft toned timber benches that gives you the feeling of cleanliness and contemp. <br/><br/>Ordered the bubble cup straight off, cold drip, vanilla consoy and tapioca pearls. The eftpos machine needs a kick in the bum to speed things up especially when it does get busy guys. I noticed there's sparkling water for free much like the upmarket expresso bars whilst everyone was busy taking photos.<br/><br/>Verdict, cold drip strength dose is on point, just right with the vanilla consoy and interesting pearls much like sago. Though I think a plastic straw will be better as the paper straw digs into the plastic lid later on. Great invention guys.<br/><br/>Looking forward to trying a proper hot flat white next time, it seemed pretty inviting from what i saw.

Came by quite excited to try the cold drip bubble cup. Unfortunately I can't say it lived up to expectations - tasted pretty average. Would've preferred larger pearls over tapioca; I think the texture would be nicer. The drink itself was quite sweet in my opinion. Staff were friendly and the interiors were quite modern and relaxed.
Flying Forward
Points for: interior design, coffee<br/><br/>I really like the all-white design of the café, everything looks so clean & sleek. They've gone upmarket and installed the benchtop espresso & steaming spouts, I assume with all the pressure machinery under the bench.<br/>The coffee is light on taste - I usually have a strong latte and I always find it a little too thin and milky. The bubble cup is made with the small clear tapioca pearls, so not the big dark ones most "bubble cup" places would have. The Super Grain Bowl is very healthy and made on the spot, but add chicken and it goes up to $16. <br/><br/>In the end, it's all a little pricier than normal, but give it a go anyway.
