Delicious fine chocolates and some great gift choices too which are reasonably priced. Free chocolate test with your coffee and don't miss their fig cake - yum! Only negative was they didn't have any lactose free milk left which forced me into a short black.
Love heading down to hahndorfs for a milkshake. Great size millshakes, staff are friendly and you also get a complimentary chocolate from their enormous range. Coffee isn't too bad either.
Staff are so friendly, I felt a really warm vibe here. We ordered coffee, milkshake and a cheesecake and received complimentary handmade chocolate :)

Great milkshakes, poor coffee. Being going here for about 1 year now, the coffee is not to great, but the milkshakes are amazing definitely worth it. Sampling the chocolate only adds to it's vibe and has a overall great atmosphere. Staff are not the friendliest and can somewhat tend on the arrogant side
Unfriendly and undrinkable coffee. They use that awful Ducale coffee which is cheap and old. I ordered an espresso and it had no crema just a puddle of muck. The old dude behind the counter barely snarled at us when we greeted him. He did offere chocolate with the coffees which smoothed things over. There's no reason to ever return here
Milkshake and coffee fabulous. They give you a free sample of chocolate with your drink. A winner with kids.
Best Iced Chocolate in Melbourne. Quite simply the best iced chocolate in Melbourne. Their chocolates are delicious as well.
I've tried Balwyn North and Blackburn. The iced chocolate in Blackburn is decent, but it is superb in the Balwyn North store.
A few people have commented on the average coffee (and rightly so) but this is a chocolate shop, not a coffee shop.

Quality hot chocolate, milkshakes and chocolates ( I don’t drink coffee).
Some girls are young.. yes (as stated in previous reviews)…. but at least they are working and learning. Encourage the girls … don’t put them down for showing initiative!

Best Staff and Priced Iced Mocha's/ Chocolate/Coffees out of ALL the Hahndorf's Fine Chocolates. Love that they are Open Later too. We used to Ride up here along the Koonung Trail when the Kids were little. Now that they're in Secondary School they can Ride themselves to get one. Plus the Best thing about this Cafe is you always get to Choose a Complimentary Chocolate with your Drink or Food Purchase.
Always welcoming staff and well made hot chocolates and espresso coffee. You receive a complimentary choccie with your beverage, I usually go for Devonshire Cream. They have five packs of a variety of choccies too. The choccies are pretty nice quality and comes in a good variety of flavours, some of which are limited edition in that they're phased in and out. Most of these five pack types you receive an espresso freebie, which comes with a "piggy-backed" free choccie which is good value. ☕🍫 Staff are friendly and polite, sometimes you need to wait a while for your beverage to be served, due to how busy it is in here - but it's always worth the wait.

The picture below was a photo before the virus happened. I ordered a Mocha and it was fantastic! They gave me a free handmade chocolate to try (Dark Chocolate Mousse) and it was so good!
DURING COVID-19:
I was working nearby and tried to have some chocolates. I had a Dark Chocolate Caramel and (again) a Dark Chocolate Mousse. The Caramel one tastes so amazing. I know now where to go to have my chocolates.
The staff was very helpful in walking me through the selection of handmade chocolates, too.
Amazing artisan chocolate and rich chocolate drinks of hot and cold. Very friendly staffs and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy their lovely sweets.
Wonderful range of chocolates and gifts. Really appreciate the complimentary chocolate with each coffee purchase. This shop has been a favourite in the community for years for good reason. It's a great place to meet for a coffee and the staff are lovely.
