Review Weirdoughs - Melbourne

Mark Marky
After an average lunch across the road came here for a fix up with a treat a Almond Latte which was amazing, I opted for the salted caramel doughnut which also didn’t disappoint, sooo many treats to choose from and cute comfortable space in the heart of it all, will definitely be back to taste and sample more. Staff are super friendly and informative. All plant based and amazing!

Been waiting for this kind of cafe and finally discovered a whole plant-based croissant and donut cafe. Pleasant looking, good taste, and well-decorated place. Offer many alternatives of plant milk. They only take card, no cash, so be prepared.

Weirdoughs is a funky little bakery that is 100% vegan and plant based. It’s so impressive what they’ve done to get their doughnuts and croissants tasting this good - we had the croissant with raw cookie dough. Pro tip - they only make limited amounts of the cubed pastry, so get in early to get your hot little hands on one. Also massive props to the staff member who served us, so friendly and knowledgeable.

Only for the vegans and the curious. The donuts are dense and overly compensated by a thick sugary coating. The croissant is dry and not flaky. If you are after a delicious donut or croissant, and not a vegan, go somewhere else.

Weirdoughs is a plant based patisserie serving up some unique croissants, rolls and coffee. The signature is a cube shape croissant. It's much denser than the normal croissant but it's still flakey. The Apple pie croissant was very good. It was light, flakey and tasted like an apple pie. Being plant based however the rich buttery flavour is missing. The Apple pie latte was not very nice at all. It had a strange sourness and spice to it. A big dusting of cinnamon on top made the first sip dry, gritty and unpleasant. Also being a latte it should be more mylky, that would of helped with the overall flavour as well. Overall the pastries are good but the weird latte was not enjoyable.

Wow, just wow. I am so impressed by the colourful decor and artistic space. I was met by the handsome and kind Juan, who explained the ethical product line so well. Everything in store is vegan and their milks for the coffee are dairy free and they offer th entire spectrum of alternative milks. I am also taken aback by the creativity of ice creams and pastries. They are presented really well and a delight to consume. I had the vegan ham and cheese croissant myself and was blown away by the smokey flavour hit as a non vegan. I had a joy conversing with Bella who was very well presented and engaging with customers. I will definitely be back to try the assortment of products here, it is more than an ethical colourful cafe. It is a work of art that is doing a service and bringing light to the world.

How creative can a bakery be? A gingerbread donut with ginger custard filling with fresh ginger flavors. And a decadent chocolate filling in delicious pastry. Not your place if you want a predictable and traditional slice of something. It's your go to if you want creative and delicious baked goods. That happens to be plant based.

It is a very interesting little cafe. Staff are very friendly and energetic. Their food are yum and often sold out quickly. Due to this is newly opened, they don't have full menu yet. They made their own chai, it is yummy. Their coffee is very good too. Price is on the high end, but worth it with the quality. The café have very limited tables. They only accept card payment. This café is very close to train station. Parking wasn't easy to find nearby. I can't wait to go back and try their full menu soon.

Went in for morning tea and was barely acknowledged. Had to get out own menu and water. My chai (with macademia milk because they were out of soy) was vey bland and the almond croissant was overly sweet. Would not recommend or return. Everything was also grossly overpriced.

Nice inviting store with mostly all menu items on display. We ordered a cube croissant with strawberry ice cream and peanut butter chocolate. Decided to sit in and eat to find the table dirty from the last customer but we still sat down, thinking it’ll be cleaned but never did. Anyway, the order arrived and looked decent but as soon as we tried cutting the croissant with spoon, we realised the it to be quite hard and not crunchy at all - as if it was baked a few hours ago. Overall, quite dense as I guess they used way too much pastry. So hard to chew that we needed a knife to cut the croissant and still struggle. Overall the dinning experience wasn’t great and way overpriced.

I have been to this cute vegan cafe twice now. The first time I ordered a cube croissant with cheese inside. The second time I got a croissant to take away. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a vegan treat while in the city.

Cool little vegan shop run by very helpful staff! interesting menu where you can create your own filled donut or croissant! Tried the nutella PB and salted caramel apple pie donuts which were nice..abit expensive but decent dough and flavors! Very eager to return to create my own donut with PB cookie dough filling!

I was SO excited to try this place. We got the waffles with fudge sauce and cookie dough.
It came out and it looked so disappointing. The waffles were GREEN and the fudge sauce wasn’t remotely thick at all it was so watery. The waffles weren’t even cooked through, I couldn’t even swallow the first mouthful and neither could my partner. We left shortly after. The staff didn’t seem to be too fussed about doing their jobs either.

Hopefully the donuts are better.
The place is super cute.

This is probably the shortest review I’ll ever do and it’s not because I didn’t like the food - purely because I am even crying of happiness of what this place will always represent from now on and how amazing this meant to me. And I also make it short so that people will actually read it (🙃) and take a lesson from this.

I’ve actually never had a ‘birthday’ cake. Surely,I have treated myself to some goodies and some desserts over the last years, but I’ve never had someone else buying some cakes or treats to specifically celebrate my birthday. Yes, it’s true. So while at work, being surprised by my orthopaedic team was just unimaginable 😭❤️ I am seriously so grateful for the kindness of people lately and for how people have been acknowledging my work and ethos of always aiming to make other people happy and making those little things count.

And of course that knowing that I’m dairy intolerant and eat mostly plant based they ordered a few cakes from Weirdoughs to celebrate my birthday 🎂 all their food is vegan and here’s what we tried:

- FRIED CHICKEN CROISSANT - from the deli, a ginormous croissant with such an incredible dough, came cut in half and inside it had some vegan fried chicken, on a great portion and serving, some rainbow salad mixed in some sauce that tasted like mayo and some pickles that surprisingly made it taste even better (and with that slight salty taste the flavour was enhanced a million times and WOW 👏 I’m starting to add pickes and olives to my own meals as it sure makes a huge difference!). This tasted really good not even heated or pressed but I think that pressed could be a major win too 👌 I would see this as a perfect brunch meal paired with some sides!

- CHOCOLATE CROISSANT - to be honest I had already tried these before at a launch event and it was possibly why I never visited the store as I felt that the croissant wasn’t that special and even lacked in chocolate and overall taste. And truth be told this time was the same. I can tell the croissant is definitely of good quality and flawless but it is quite dry and inside there is minimal chocolate. The size is admirable, yes, but I wouldn’t recommend having this as the price is quite significant for a pastry that lacks in chocolate and that gooey, soft and mouth drooling consistency. If I were to rate this place solely on that croissant it would certainly be a 2 star and I would undoubtedly recommend to anyone to get any of the other cakes instead, because those, yes, were good indeed! Just as a final note and constructive feedback for this specific pastry, I think that microwaving it might make it slightly more pleasant, and should be the norm while delivering it to costumers (obviously here it came with uber eats and it would not make sense, but I’m just giving an objective impression that I would personally would have enjoyed more if eating at the venue) as well as make the chocolate filling more substantial and not as hard ☺️

- GF MATCHA GREEN TEA WAFFLE - if there is one thing that was AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING was this one. And it wasn’t just me that agreed on this - for the whole team, we loved this one the most and it was gooooooood. The matcha green tea waffles are of good consistency and very enjoyable flavour but certainly they know that just that wouldn’t be enough and they added a topping of maple syrup, ideally thought of and incredibly delicious combined with the waffles, as well as something similar to a cookie dough. I actually do not know what it was and while it doesn’t have such an ‘instagramable’ look, I have to say that THAT WAS THE BEST THING WE HAD. Soft in consistency and sweet in taste it resembled an almond paste, red bean paste or something like marzipan but more gooey and pairing it with the waffles was INSANE 👏 do yourself a favour and get these if you visit as it’ll probably be one of the best things you’ll ever try!

- WEIRDOUGHNUTS - there were two donuts to complete the feast and both of them were of good portion and again of great quality and ingredients.
1. The first one was a Nutella one that looked quite simple on the outside with a slight drool/drip, coming from the upper part of the donut, and with a single hazelnut. It looked like chocolate of a semi dark colour and the surprise came when we cut them in pieces - a semi explosion of chocolate came from the inside, so semi thick consistency and the most mouth drooling smell of nutella! And once we tried it we certainly confirmed that it tasted EXACTLY like nutella 👏👌🥳 I assume that it was a hazelnut cacao spread and if I didn’t know these were completely vegan I would say it was the real nutella (with dairy). Wow 👏 great job done here! I would definitely not recommend if you’re not a massive chocolate fan 😂 but I mean who doesn’t like chocolate? It does have the right amounting chocolate spread inside (more would definitely be too much) and even if you like chocolate but not toooooo much, this is just perfect 👌
2. The second one was so cuuuute! It came again looking impressive and of good portion and with some powdered sugar outside. On top there always a little round red section that obviously looked like jam and it was indeed jam 😂 and on top of that there were some sprinkles! Yaaaaas 🥳 birthday donut! 🎊 Not being surprised this time once we opened it, there was, as expected, jam inside that was surprisingly good again! We thought that it was lacking in jam in the case actually and having more of the strawberry jam inside would have been massively appreciated! Nonetheless this was my favourite donut between the top as I found it more balanced in terms of sweetness regarding the toppings/ingredients used ☺️

I think I kept it quite short (if you don’t think so just read my other reviews) and I hope this benefits someone and gives an idea for some people when they want to surprise someone (even not on their birthday!) 🤗 it sure made my almost cry of happiness and be very grateful to be able to receive my first ever birthday treat bought by my wonderful future orthopaedic surgeons ❤️

The service I cannot rate as it was a delivery from UberEats (I think it came on time, so that’s appreciated 😂), the chocolate croissant would be 2/5 and the doughnuts a 3/5. The fried chicken croissant a 4/5 and that matcha green tea waffle dough surpasses everything and is definitely a 5/5 for the waffles. As an overall, I would rate it as a 4 star, considering the food and the experience it meant to me 😊
Flying Forward
Seemingly inspired by the labs of Willy Wonka, Weirdoughs' design feature psychedelic pinks and greens. Even the oompa loompa staff are uniformed in pink overalls, as they usher people through, thanks to the huge marketing push just before launch.

Vegans and vegetarians will have peace of mind that everything is made from plants, so no butter is used in the dough itself.

* Cronolli - Surprisingly reminiscent of a buttery chocolate horn from Breadtop ...but without the butter. The chocolate custard is nice and smooth.
I do get that plant based ingredients can be a little pricey, but I do question myself when I buy 2 pastries at $19.
Cookielessvee
A retro kind of cafe.

Staff are very friendly. A wide range of select doughnuts and bakes but quite pricey. Although the pastries look good the taste is the opposite. Plant based ingredients, the Cube crossaint with nutella hot sauce was cold. The crossaint itself was so hard and tough outside that it was a struggle to even eat it. Texture wise dense and plain.

First, no one serve me when I was waiting in front of the counter wait for the order at least 5 minutes, then I saw 2 of the staff are talking to each other without doing anything. Ok, the. After I ordered my drinks( 1 chocolate & strong latte), the staff didn’t tell me which one is coffee and chocolate, even not write on the cups! Fine, I was trying to ask them to get a receipt, one of the staff( maybe Indian or Asian) has annoying to ask my email box to send it to me. Ok! So this is the very bad experience for me today, if you want the returning customers, you should focus your service.

As the order, I’ve order strong latte, but taste milky, the reason I want to try when I see this shop is just because St.Ali’s name at the front door, but unfortunately it was a very bad experience for me today!

I don’t think I will go back to this shop again.
Terrible experience. Waited too long for this tiny bowl of MELTED(?!) ice cream. Will never go back there!

Food 1/5
Service 1/5
Environment 4/5

Now I understand why the rate only two because the brand is tel me that so weird. The food is terrible and expensive. The coffee taste average and the service is not that good. The only advantage of this shop is the decoration.
Always Hungry
I was super excited to try this vegan croissant and decided to go all out and get the one with cookie dough inside.
It was yummy but the croissant itself wasn't amazing and I kind of felt like I had diabetes afterwards but overall it was yummy.

We wondered into this little shop because we couldn’t get to degraves street.. in first look this place just looks like one of those fancy doughnut shops.. however don’t be fooled.. this is actually a vegan coffee shop, not that we have any issues with that.. they had a variety of doughnuts and pastries on display but non were priced.. we decided to have what the barista recommended which was the croissant square with cookie dough filling.. it was horrible.. the croissant was cold, not fresh and not fluffy.. the cookie dough was overly sweet and felt like something you could have easily bought at Coles.. the coffee was worst.. having not realised it was a vegan cafe we were given a choice of almond, soy, oat, skinny milk & etc.. we had a piccolo with soy and a cappuccino with skinny milk.. coffee wasn’t up to scratch and coconut milk with espresso is a really bad combination.. prices of the pastries were not cheap too.. the croissant set us back about $13 which was ridiculous ($9.80 for the square croissant + $3.50 cookie dough filling + $1 chocolate drizzle).. overall very bad experience and won’t come back here even if it was the last coffee shop in Melbourne..

2.5 I honestly love the design of this place. It is nice to have some vegan ice cream, pastries, drinks and cookie dough.
Sadly, I didn’t like the ice cream’s flavour and it’s texture. The cookie dough was too sweet. The croissant was too hard and not flavourful.

It just wasn’t for me.
The idea is great. Staff is friendly and helpful.
The taste just wasn't for me.

It's a typical Melbourne hipster café which was enthusiastically recommended to me by a friend. It was okay, but didn't live up to the expectations. If you're in the area, give it a try but I wouldn't recommend specifically planning a trip there.

Nice concept, I will watch though and see how it evolves!

Interesting new hipster cafe and ice cream shop with weird and quirky flavours that are surprisingly pretty good! The name says everything! ☕️🍦

I thought I’d try this place because I really wanted a ham cheese croissant. I got the smoky BBQ ham cheese croissant. Instant regret after one bite. Croissant was half toasted and bready/slightly doughy in texture. Ok I get that they are vegan croissants but you’d expect to have a fully toasted croissant when you buy one. The cheese was only partially melted, bacon tasted a little weird along with the BBQ sauce. Worst of all it cost $9.50. Ridiculously overpriced for a not very tasty croissant. Don’t think I’m ready to go back and try the other baked goods for a long time
Don't Mess With Me
I've been hanging to try the famous square croissant for so long. Today I finally dragged myself down to grab one. I don't know if I built it up too much in my mind, but I felt it was disappointingly bland, dry, stale and lacked appeal. It definitely didn't taste fresh. I felt that the square croissant was so flavourless, I had to ask for butter. The coffee was OK, but quite bitter. I guess that is the great thing about trying something new, one gets to experience it all personally. You should definitely go down and try one for yourself, because that's the great thing about diversity, one person's 'bland' might be another's 'delicious'. 🥐
.
.
#squarecroissant #croissant #brunch #weirdoughs #flinderslane #caffeineinjection #coffee #coffeelover #melbournefoodie #instafood #melbourneeats #instafoodie

Ummm yummm!
It’s so amazing to find a place offering vegan pastries like croissants! Not a huge fan of the apple pie latte, but instead of ordering that next time I’ll just grab more croissants 🙊

I’m not one to review, but honestly the customer service and friendliness of the staff particularly yuan is second to none! The staff are accommodating and the food is ever changing and tasty. Best vegan bakery going around. Would highly recommend the choc filled croissant and the cookie dough! Thanks guys!

Heading in on national doughnut day I decided to get their pistachio doughnut. This came with the extra of cookie dough stuffed. The cookie dough was so rich and waz oozing out leaving my hands all covered in deliciousness. Staff are extremely friendly.

I like the whole concept it’s really quirky and fun. The interior is brilliant. However once you have a croissant from somewhere like Lune you can’t compare it to this. I understand they are vegan however I won’t be going back for a second helping.

The guys that served us were really nice.

The coffee was great.

I had the Cube Croissant and it was average. The French Bread at Be.K in Maribyrnong tasted more like a Croissant compared to this one. Nonetheless, it was still good.
Theycallmemaggie
Ever wondered what a vegan croissant tastes like? (And why someone would even want to go down this route?!) Me too. Curiosity won out and setting all judgement aside, I decided to check out Weirdoughs and their vegan pastry offerings, which included their famous cube croissant. As we proceeded to cut the cube in half, the resistance against the knife and the crunch were all good signs of a crunchy croissant. Tasting it confirmed this crunch and produced some flaky mess, so in this regard, they’ve managed to do pretty well with the exterior.
Masterbudget
$10.50 for a croissant?!
And a very condescending waiter!!

No wonder some people cannot afford to buy houses, they skimped on smashed avo and splurged on $10+ croissant!

What a mindset, being good with money is looked down upon!! But splurging on a $10 croissant is applauded?!
Affogato Addiction
Matcha affogato $7, your choice of mylk item and your voice of ice cream. Almond milk and pistachio coconut ice cream was an excellent combo.

A small select of baked goods. Doughnut was ok, about 50% jam that oozed out quickly and everywhere when bitten into.

This is a vegan cafe. A lot of the negative reviews are probably from people who immediately dock 2 stars for that, so the average rating is not a reflection of the high quality of this place.
Michelle
I had the pan au chocolate while my companion had the ham and cheese croissant. Not too sweet. A bit dense compared to a normal pastry but hey. You could say it was adoughquate.
Timinmelbourne
I’ve heard about this plant based cafe so I was keen to try it when I was walking past.

I ordered a strong skinny latte and the woman in front of me walked out after she ordered which was odd. To be honest I couldn’t understand what the man who was serving said but it mustn’t have been good.

So I ordered my coffee and I paid with my card, and the same fellow walked away and started making my coffee.

I quickly looked at the computer screen to see that my coffee was $5.50!! Wt???

I now understand why the lady in front of me walked out.

And I literally walked around the corner and got an excellent coffee for $3.50! Go figure

This a rating solely for the ice cream there.
Me and my friends tried Eggplant lavender, the mango passionfruit and tumeric, strawberry, and sweet potato, chilli and pecans and blood orange with aperol.

All of these flavours were fantastic!
My favourite was the eggplant lavender, in which it had cold eggplant chunks in it that provided great texture. It wasn’t overly flavoursome which I prefer, and it was overall a fresh and refreshing taste.
The mango, passionfruit and tumeric was funky in flavour. Instantaneously, the tumeric hits you in the tastebuds, but after 2 or three scoops the mango and passionfruit come out and nicely complement the tumeric- which was such a surprise to us.
Blood orange and aperol was mediocre to me, but it was probably because I’m not at all into spirits. Everyone else however enjoyed it immensely. Its texture was more like a sorbet.
The strawberry was good too, but I guess since it was just strawberry it didn’t stand out to me.
Lastly, the sweet potato had a dense flavour that reminded me a bit of taro. It was interesting overall, but eggplant remains my top pick.

All in all, I do recommend weirdoughs for its ice cream. Not sure about the actual pastries since I have not had any, but the ice cream is definitely worth a try.
Allison
Where does it say it's a vegan cafe? Where does it list the prices for coffee? Where does it list that "butter" is a dollar? Where does it list that jam is a dollar? Where does it list the milk options and prices?
I'm not bothered about it being vegan as I am a vegetarian but IT SHOULD STATE THAT somewhere visible!!!! It should also state the milk types and the fact that coffee is $6!!!!!!
The girl serving us was so confused with the most simple of tasks - taking an order!
It honestly just feels like a total ripoff - despite the concept being fabulous - and they have just failed on all counts. Will not ever return.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Got two of the lobster croissants and an almond croissant. The lobster roll had meat like those crab stick ones in the sushi, which wasn't what I was expecting reading the description. It had zero taste except some soury mayo sauce. It was very oily and soggy. The almond croissant was hard and not much of the almond paste inside.

Finally a fully vegan pastry and ice cream store in the heart of Melbourne! Fun interior and cheerful service. Had the pavlova crossaint which was pure flaky goodness, not too sweet and loved the custard part which I usually hated in no-vegan versions. Tried the eggplant lavender ice cream which was recommended, and was surprised by how good it is! Basically no eggplant taste but the best natural lavender without being overly sweet. Coffee was good too, with options for soy, almond, coconut or oat milk. Highly recommend for pastry cravings❤️
#vegan #plantbased #veganinmelbourne

I actually wanted to give 3.5/5, don’t want to be that harsh hahaha plus I only got a thing or two dislike about.

So I went here with my mum yesterday, I guess I’ve put some expectations on how weird it would be. But tbh, the price especially for the ice cream is quite high, and the scoop you will be given is just a small amount. definitely cannot compare with other vegan ice cream places I’ve been to. Besides, if you put it in a cone rather than a cup, you’ll be charged more, which is kind of unreasonable lol.

For the ice cream itself, we had two flavours. Salted caramel was delicious but a bit sweet. However the lavender one wasn’t that ok probably because they put too much lavender thingy in it? Idk

The staff there are nice FYI. :)
Its All About The Food
I was very excited to visit Weirdoughs, as it's an all vegan/plant-based bakery, so I really wanted to like it. The shop is airy and bright, a subtle amount of neon to be on trend without being gaudy. The staff were very friendly. My excitement had further been peaked by their strong Instagram game, so let's try some delicious plant-based baked goods.

So as I walked in their excited by what I saw, I was happy to pay $18.20 for two croissants. My happiness soon faded.

I tried the Cronnoli, a chocolate croissant roll with piped chocolate. The chunk of dark chocolate on the top was great, as vegan choc can often be powdery, the piped chocolate was good a little heavy, but the pastry was dough and did not have the crisp of a good croissant not the snap of a good cannoli. It was OK but at $9.20, you expect more than OK.

I was excited to try the Cube Croissant, as this is Weirdoughs signature dish, their unique selling point, sadly it was awful! It was awful, and the plastic pot of cheap jam that accompanied it, awful! Now for the sake of it being a fun cube, I was not expecting it to be the quality of a Lune (https://www.zomato.com/melbourne/lune-croissanterie-fitzroy) croissant or the less celebrated gem of Eclair in Hampton (https://www.zomato.com/melbourne/eclair-hampton). However, this "croissant" was undercooked in the middle, super dense, and really not good. It tasted like a pastry that had not been allowed to prove for long enough. Had they perhaps used a 1/3 less dough it could have been airy, crisp and delicious. I don't know I will not be back.

For those thinking, "What do you expect, it's vegan", I suggest you go to Mister Nice Guy's Bakeshop (https://www.zomato.com/melbourne/mister-nice-guys-bakeshop-ascot-vale) in Ascot Vale, try the cinnamon scroll, try the sausage roll, try anything, I can assure you it's all delicious and all VERY VEGAN.

This place... they basically change trading hours every week(or day?), and the food just sweet as hell. Luckily the staff is really friendly or it will be a no-star experience for me.

Weirdoughs are weird, and not the good kind of weird... more like the I-can’t-bear-to-have-a-second-bite weird.

I wanted to like Weirdough, I really do. Their staff are so happy and smiley and their selection looks so good. We chose the gingerbread donut and a red jam donut. Firstly the texture of the donut is weird... it’s too heavy and stodgey for our liking. The red jam donut was awfully sweet, and even though I don’t like ginger anything, the gingerbread one actually taste better, not by much though.

The gingerbread one is less sweet, but that meant we tasted more of the donut and it tasted really doughy.. like it was half cooked.

I know they are trying really hard to make vegan donut taste good, but this is certainly not my cup of tea. I think I had two bites of the gingerbread donut and gave up. The jam one I barely touched because it was just too sweet. I definitely won’t be visiting again.
LydiaOZ
I had the least sweet option which was the “Pan Au chocolat” Vahlora chocolate croissant. It delivered on taste and had layers as expected but if you are a patisserie purist, you might find the slightly chewy texture a bit strange, especially on the top where the painted chocolate glaze appears. It is a great concept to offer vegan and dairy free alternatives. The downside is that they don't let you know that they only have credit card “taps” as they carry no cash at all until at the point of sale (useful to know in advance if you tend to use cash). I would be tempted to visit again even though I am not vegetarian.

What an awesome place this is! Vegans, vegetarians and people who eat everything unite! This place is for everybody. Everything is plant based, but it’s all so unique and delicious I highly recommend.
Each donut and croissant I tried was so good. The turmeric donut was perfectly fluffy and the flavours were light. It was so good!
The croissant with the rainbow flakes was exceptional, perfectly flaky and their vegan butter was perfect.
The hazelnut hot chocolate was my fave drink.
Thanks for having me at the launch!
Tinmans Treats
If I was a vegan, this would be a 4 to 5 star place. A great option for those who want a dairy free, vegan sweet. Weirdough is filling a gap in the market, and the vegan market is passionate, and gets behind vegan food. Top marks for the name. I've enjoyed a lot of vegan products this year, and truth be told, we probably should be eating less animal products.
For non-vegans like myself, it's a 3.5 with the extra half for innovation and technique. I had the croissant cube and the beetroot red jam donut. I could appreciate the artistry and the technique of this place. But I sadly have this love affair with butter, and butter is not vegan because COWS. It was flaky and soft and crunchy like a croissant should be. perhaps a bit compact because of the cube shape. The experience was pleasant enough, but I don't necessary have the desire to return, unless I was with a vegan friend.

Service is friendly, and the location is prime. That said, the place deserves to be here and will probably do very well.

7/10
Food For Thought
Interesting concept and unusual flavours created in pastries and donuts, great that it's right next to my favourite coffee place. I did not know that the bakery was vegan until I read about it more on the website. There was a label near the display area explaining what was inside the baked goods. It would be great if the concept was clarified to me in the store. Had the pain au chocolate - It's really yummy for a vegan croissant but I can't help comparing with the usual buttery croissants. Payment was only by card in the store today, fine by me!

Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my godddd!!! Uffffff

There’s finally a vegan croissant bakery in town that’s 100% plant based. I CANNOT contain my excitement.

It lives upto every bit of hype.

Plain croissants ❤️
Almond croissants ❤️❤️
Chocolate ❤️
Sweet potato ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I love how they experiment with new flavours like sweet potato. I love it even more because they distinguish themselves from all other vegan joints with funkiness and quirkiness. Delicious doughs / weird service

Got there a few past 7am, but the delivery hadn’t arrived yet, which was strange for a bakery that advertises being open from 7am.

Ordered when the goods had arrived, they made a mistake with my order, handing it to the people in front of me, and taking down my name incorrectly: weird as I was only the second order of the day. Here is hoping they got into the groove as the day went on.

My friends loved the croissants though - I got the plain and the almond.

Rating : 3.5

This bakery is all I ever wanted in the Melbourne CBD. It's probably good for my wallet that I don't go to uni there anymore because I would surely stop by here every single day if I did! I had the pleasure of attending their opening night party with a friend and got to try out a whole lot of different stuff off the menu. Their pastries are amazing and so is their Icecream. I love the look of the place and the staff was nothing but super friendly to me. I would love to see this place expand and open more locations around town, preferably somewhere where they'd have more space for seating as well! The only drawback with this place I'd say is the prices, as their pastries are a bit expensive. However I feel the quality of the food does make up for it.

I was really impressed with the food. The flavour, texture and appearance was exactly like a regular dessert, but knowing it’s all vegan made it taste even better. Great news for vego’s, vegans and earth lovers in general. Keep up the good work!

Before actually tasting it, I didn’t have high expectation tbh bc I had some vegan desserts before which were not very nice. But this one , really tasty! Not overly sweet or artificial felt like! And the soy latte was spot on too! I had one more almond croissant take away for my mum and my doggy was like hmmm it smells good lol (don’t worry I didn’t feed him). Will definitely come back to taste the rest!

SO impressed by this new vegan bakery. It's small, but they bake a diverse range of sweet and savoury goods, plus rotating seasonal specials (like the Thanksgiving themed pecan pie croissant, my personal favourite and a nice dose of nostalgia for me as an American).

The sweet potato cronnoli (croissant cannoli) is a other delicious special, although I prefer their chocolate variation. If you fancy something less sweet, the turmeric custard donut is great, or even a pizza Danish if you're after salty. None of it tastes "vegan", it just tastes good.

But while the pastries are stellar, they're not the only reason to pop in. Interesting ice cream flavours are also available, perfect for those who love anything experimental. I'm talking slightly candied eggplant and lavender, guys! Or perhaps pea, mint, lime and wasabi sorbet. To wash it down, a creamy oat milk hot choc (milk from Minor Figures) or vegan PSL should suffice.
But get in fast- this place sells out quick.

I was invited to the launch of Weirdoughs last night (what a FABULOUS name) a new bakery specialising in some amazing donuts and croissants. Best of all it’s entirely vegan and completely delicious.

Operated by the same team as lord of the fries, this small space on flinders lane boasts intriguing ice cream flavours (I sampled the eggplant and lavender en route out the door) as well as pumpkin spice lattes which are so on trend.

The popularity of a vegan lifestyle continues to grow as more people search for an ethical alternative and in this case they will be rewarded with a chocolate crostoli which is a hybrid between a croissant and a cannoli filled with chocolate custard. This was my pick of the night but I also adored the quirky cube croissant to which you can customise toppings such as avocado etc.

I’ll also give an honourable mention to the gold custard donut for its super intriguing turmeric spiced vanilla custard filling. What an exciting new addition to the Melbourne food scene

Incredible vegan treats in the centre of Melbourne!

I had a ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was flakey, crunchy, delicious and light. The filling was good too.

The coffee was excellent. St Ali bean, La Marzocco machine, just absolute brilliance.

It was a little pricey, but a good occasional treat.
