Like other markets in Melbourne inner suburbs, it is good place to shop for your fresh produce and dairy, and if you are into middle eastern / Mediterranean / Greek staples , fresh pasta etc.. It has a great variety of shops!! I can't believe I have never been to this market until now though. Having said that I wouldn't come here to do my regular just because it's a little bit out of the way for me to drive and find parking in the busy area.
P.S. I got stung by a bee there so my personal experience of visit was only pleasant up to that point 😅
An interesting market with a wide varied and cooked and uncooked food available. The market is generally quite tidy for the most part, and some of the cakes from here are delicious. Lots of fresh fruit stands and uncooked meats to take home, and there's generally something for everyone here.
Interesting market. A wide variety of cooked and uncooked food available. Flowers sold there were pretty. The meat and seafood area caught my attention the most. Meat sold there by the various stalls were amazing. Duck, lamb, beef, pork... Anything you can think of. The sushi sold at one of the fish shop was simple but amazing!! Didn't have enough time today as I parked my car at a 1 hour spot. Will park in the multi storey parking next to the market next time.
Prahran Market at South Yarra is a nice market to visit.
Smaller in size and crowd when compared to Queen Victoria Market and South Yarra Market.
A good numbers of shops, food, eateries and goods to satisfy all your needs.
The flowers at the florists are lovely.
Highly recommended if you are visiting South Yarra.
Great little market. When comparing to QVM, South Melbourne & Dandedong, by far the smallest. I drove and found easy parking at the back and the parking rates were very reasonable ($4.10 for 2 hours).
In short, I found the eateries and delis to be awesome, but the produce section (fruit, veggies, meats & seafood) to be behind the other markets in terms of variety and price. My highlights would be Wasshoi to eat and Sweet Greek for little deli snacks.
Of all the markets around town, this is probably the one that’s worth the time. Lots of fresh fruit, deli items, flowers and plants. Worth a visit if you are exploring the neighbourhood.
It's a market with everything you need under one roof. There are cafes, fruit and Vegetable (green grocers), delis, butchers, poultry, seafood, plants and flowers, dried foods, Asian grocery, ice creamery etc. There are few food outlet to fill our tummy and tackle the hunger after finish shopping. The price of fruits and vegies are much more expensive than other place. But the price of meats, poultry and seafoods are comparable to other place and the quality are fresh and stunning.
