Sarawak Kitchen is a very underrated Gem in Clayton.
What it lacks perhaps a bit in terms of ambience and service is more than made up by mouth watering traditional Malay dishes.
Been dining here for over a couple of years.
Must Try-
Nasi Lemak
Sarawak Laksa
Bakuteh
Pepper chicken and rice
They have amazing lunch specials too which are value for me and offer a pretty good portion as well.
The place could do with a bit more overall cleanliness but overall the food is delectable and definitely value for money!

Sarawak specialising eats in Clayton.

The place is medium sized and well lit. The staffs were friendly and food came out pretty quick.

Their kampua noodles (L) were definitely large, though note that different size only apply to the noodles and not the toppings so yeah the ratio was off. The noodle was on the thicker compared kolo noodles, cooked to perfection but it was just too salty. ON the other hand, the vegetarian crispy chicken noodle was bland, so WE MIXED THEM UP LOL. The chef really need to be consistent.

That aside though, theyre actually yummy, the pork were crispy and the prawn were quite fresh, portion was great.

The seafood fried rice was also great (we asked them not to put the ketchup on top), flavor was spot on, as well as texture and portion size. Recommend this for sure.

Bak kut teh was also great, meat were quite tender and soup had a nice herbal flavor. the size was generous, same with the rice.

Their barley was good, just tad bit sweet and bit small. Didn't have the teh tarik myself due to sore throat.

Overall a great place for some reasonably priced and tasty malaysian food that DESPERATELY needs consistency in their food (CITY BRANCH YOU TOO).

( follow for more!✨)

Ordered takeaway Kampua Special here today. We really like the food at their CBD branch and tried this branch for the first time today. The decor was surprisingly modern and pleasant, and very well maintained. The air conditioning was nice and cool which was important because the weather was incredibly hot today.

Ordering was quick and easy, though they do have a minimum order of $30 for EFTPOS, which is a bit excessive in my opinion, but considering the very reasonable prices for their food I don't really mind the extra hassle of paying cash.

I've raved about how they serve authentic Malaysian food at a very reasonable price in my review of their CBD branch, and this branch was no different. Because I arrived after 3pm, I was able to order the mid-afternoon specials and my noodles only cost me $9. Even at full price it only costs a couple of dollars more. The Kampua Special has BBQ pork (char siew), prawns and pork belly on top of handmade noodles. The noodles are really good, bouncy and silky. The meats are all great as well, carefully prepared. The prawns were plump and fresh, and they even bothered to de-vein one of my prawns that presumably had an obvious poop-shoot. If I must find a negative, it is that the pork belly skin wasn't crispy, but I didn't mind it at all because the cut of pork belly itself was great - not too much meat or fat.

I'm very glad I had this for a late lunch.

After being shocked by discovering the permanent closure of Wah Kee, we crossed the road to try Sarawak Kitchen instead.

It was a pretty bustling place with many people ordering dishes other than their famous kolo mee and kampua mee. From what I could observe, their serving sizes were quite large (especially the char kuay teow and hainanese chicken rice).

We went for our usual though. The noodles in both the kolo mee and kampua mee were al dente. The sauce used was savoury and eased all our Wah Kee sorrows. The soup was pleasantly un-salty and washed everything down beautifully.

The only negative today was the wait staff attempting to clear our plates before we had finished eating...ease up guys, it's not the Formula One!

We thought the food was good. Nothing to shout about. Good for a quick bite. Ordered the Nasi Lemak. The sambal was good, and chicken was tasty as well. 2nd item was the fried Kampua noodles. Good sized serving, good texture and tastes good too. Will definitely come back time and time again.

Previously located in Glen Waverley, this franchise has now moved to Clayton.
Ambience: 3/5. Ambience was average. Simple decors with menus ready on the table.
Food: 4/5. Ordered the kolo mee combo, pan mee and the special soup. Was a big fan of the special soup. The meat was tender and portion was reasonable. However, the taste has changed over the years. The soup lacking in flavour and was not hot enough when it was served.
Service: 4/5. Good service. They were quick to serve us and take orders.
Overall a good place to go to for a quick and simple Sarawak Malaysian food.

Being a Sarawakian, I have been following Sarawak Kitchen around for awhile. They have a big menu and most of their Sarawak dishes are very close to what I used to have back home.
Kolo mee is amazing! Please do not complain that you have very little veggies in your noodles as this is how they serve in Sarawak with a much smaller portion of noodles. The noodles are cook much better at this site compared to the one in the city.
Nasi lemak with fried fish is very good. I like how the fish is fried until crisp and even the bone and tail are edible.
Childhood memories at very affordable price!

Like any restaurants that you go to, they will have some dishes that they do really well and that becomes the house specialty and some that taste meh. Sarawak Kitchen is no exception.

Hubby and I often dine here so we have the opportunity to try different things from the menu from bak kut teh to kampua mee to the main ala carte ones. Our favourite? Ala carte mains. They are tasty, reasonably priced and decent size. So gather a few friends or go after running a marathon and order a variety of things from the mains!

Food was a little on the salty side, but everything else was still very delicious. We ordered a few dish but amongst ourselves and overall was good. Pleasant experience.

Delicious Malaysian cuisine from Sarawak with great presentation and pricing. Food was served hot and the noodles were unique. Staff were polite and attentive even though it was busy when we visited.

Once upon a time, there were no specialised Indonesian Bakmie restaurants such as PBK or Bakmie Kitchen, so the closest we can get to Indonesian bakmie is Kolo Mie and Sarawak Kitchen is the place that introduced us to Kolo Mie. The texture of thennoodle is a bit different than Indonesian bakmie. Kolo Mie is firmer but we like them as they remind us of one of the bakmie places we used to go in Jakarta. We like the Kolo Mie better than the he Kampua mie. Kolo Mie comes pork mince which adds more flavour! Get the special and large portion if you are hungry!! Definitely will come back.
