The Chickerie

The food has been amazing ever single time I have visited this place, my favorite being the spicy chicken wings, the wasabi mayo chips and of course the bananatella rolls, and the owner is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. Would definitely recommend getting down here as I have had nothing but positive experiences with the food and service. Best wings in Melbourne, easily.

When this place opened just around the corner from our house, we weren’t sure what to expect. From the first visit we were hooked! The food is bloody lovely & so reasonable! Angelito’s gluten free crispy chicken recipe is THE BEST! Great choice of sauces and sides. He does catering too, and will be using him when we have a party. This humble looking little take away counter is just the start for him, he has a very impressive CV in the food world,(yes we’ve had many chats as the chicken is cooking!!) and although I hope he stays around the corner from us, I can see this is just the beginning for this talented little chef! Angelito is very friendly & happy too, which makes the whole experience very well deserving of his 5 stars! Go Chickerie!!! ❤️ Go Angelito !!!

My family and I turned up on a random tuesday night and was absolutely blown away by chef angel's delectable food creations! We started with Samurai Wings and Sweet Chilli, and a ricebowl with original chicken wings for my son. Samurai Wings: A wasabi inspired sauce blend. Spicy, but not too much. Easily gobbled up a few of these. The chicken was nice and crispy, Chef Angel's secret blend allows for the chicken to crisp up nicely without soaking up oil. The breading was light and satisfying, without being greasy, leaving the palate to savour the sauce and texture of the chicken. The Chickerie Wing (Sweet Chilli): Inspired from his Filipino roots, Chef angel uses a banana based concoction to supply a unique sweetness to this item. Chilli flavour was again not too strong, but after a few of these, the sweetness became overpowered. The chicken was served with a very generous serving of hot chips with a dry coat of cheese and we also had a BBQ flavoured helping. We were also graced with the Mexican Wing. An interesting wing which incorporates the basics of a taco, heaped on top of crispy fried chicken. It was very refreshing, and provided respite from the salt of the chips and allowed to reset flavours when we returned to the Sweet Chilli chicken. And lastly, we were served bananatella. Banana fritters with Nutella! Reminiscent of Banana-que, the filipino community will find this interesting. Chef Angel was extremely hospitable, and as always, is a great conversationalist. He makes you feel very welcome. We will come back as frequently as we can! I've got my eyes on those dragon wings! :)

FINALLY!!! No pretence "And" amazing food. This is the best chicken I have had. EVER. The burger is Incredible too. The nicest man, running the tastiest hole in the wall food stall. It's about time in this area. I was ready yo move. Im stayin!
