First time trying Bornga at the Lonsdale street branch for dinner.
Their condiments were really good! Sweet potato, seaweed, Kimchi (the only one which was soso) and bean shoots.
We ordered the seafood pancake which was surprisingly really large! The squid pieces were really big and soft and the accompanying sauce was really good.
We also had the beef bulgogi which was juicy, tasty and well done. We liked how it had lots of veges as well, tonnes of onions and beanshoots.
Service was friendly, and because it's normally a kbbq place you/your clothes can get quite smoky so they had about 8 bottles of perfume at the payment counter you can spray yourself with. Thought it was super cute!
Would come back again (:
Came for jajangmyeon and i enjoyed it. Sweet soy fried chicken tasted great though its more flour than actual meat. Nengmyeon was okay, portion was quite generous. & they serve a number of different side dishes, especially enjoyed their mashed potato and seaweed!
A nice excluded Place upstairs with good views if you get a window seat. Great food with free lollies and cologne to try at the front counter. I ended back for the cologne and the Fried Chicken.
We chose the $69 for 7 dishes BBQ set. It has both spicy and non-spicy meat. The meat was seasoned very well. Tho should eat immediately or else it will become dry and cold. Staff was nice and the atmostphere was really great.
Rating: 4Food: 4Value: 5Ambience: 4Service: 4Will always be a favourite of mine. Next to the busy shopping centre of Melbourne Central, a good place to rest up and fuel yourself would be this traditional Korean restaurant that serve a variety of dishes for a bargain, especially when eating with family and friends and enjoying a hearty and cozy meal. The set comes with a hot steamed egg, which I loved for every bite I had. It was so fluffy and creamy, maybe just slightly bland, but I couldn’t complain how it made me feel like home. We ordered sweet and sour pork, a $69 lucky 7 meat set, kimchi pancake and spicy rice cakes. All seemed to tick the criteria, and there was nothing I could fault. If I had to choose a Korean dish to recommend, I’d say tteokkbokki, but it could be biased since it is my favourite dish that they managed to execute very well. Other dishes I would recommend are the bulgogi, fried chicken, and their bibimbap. The black bean sauce noodles (jjajangmyeon), however, tasted a bit weird, very different from the ones I’ve tried at other Korean restaurants. Service was average but staff were definitely friendly. Will return to this number one kbbq spot.
My cravings for black bean noodles lead me back here to this Korean restaurant. I remember enjoying the noodles the first time I came here years ago and devouring it once again brought back happy memories. It’s one of my favourite Korean dishes and I wish more restaurants made this dish! I will definitely try other places to see where it measures up but for now it’s my go to! The noodles are delicious and I feel like the flavours are well balanced! The beef bulgogi dish here was also delicious I like that they were generous with the beef portion considering it was only $12!!!
One of my favourite Korean BBQ joints for sure.
They have an incredibly tasty selection of meat and marinades and side dishes that aren’t seen at other places. The pork and beef bulgogi here is so good! So tender and juicy. The meat sets and options are quite steep especially for their portion size (the only let down). The side dishes here are excellent. I’ve never had Korean steamed egg as a side before and it was to die for! Literally melts in your mouth and full of flavour. Moreover, Korean potato salad and seaweed salad is uncommon as banchan from my experience but they go so well with the meat. I also adore their fried chicken! We got sweet soy flavour and it was so delicious. It’s also BYO for $3.80 a head so it was fantastic (we bought our soju from KTMART for $4.50-8 and the place sold a bottle for $15).
Services are also excellent. Super patient and friendly staff.
I highly recommend this place!
I went to this restaurant with some friends the other night, we had the bulgogi jeongol(hot pot), which was amazing, the meat was tender and flavorful. I really enjoy the happy service we are met with and the food came out quite quickly, another thing I am loving is the Kimchi pizza! everyone at our table ate everything and not a single bit of food was leftover. I will be returning based on the awesome flavors, kind faces and comfy interior!
Recommended by Korean friends so I we were happy to wait for 20mins. Quite spacious there and the restaurant make me feel like I'm in Korea. Recommend the fatty beef strip there. Got strong smoky taste which I like it a lot . We have to order one more plate coz it's really delicious. But don't really like theirs plum wine, taste like Chinese coughing syrup..... in general, it is good
Mouthwatering Korean BBQ with a nice ambience. Service is prompt and efficient like most Asian restaurants. Ventilation is good which is important in a barbecue joint.
