We really enjoyed the ramen and Gyoza. They were tasty and fresh. However service was very slow. Restaurant was quite but had to wait over 45 minutes for our meals to arrive
Great food, terrible service.
This is highly popular in Mullumbimby. The food is good, though they dont really have enough vegetarian options (e.g. without Dashi broth). But the service is awful. They are so busy they dont really have to care about that end of things it seems. Always booked out. Every time I have gone there, the wait staff are floppy, way too young. This recent time, went there with my 4 year old grandson. At 6.30pm, they told us all the tables were booked, though there were not a lot of people there, and we would have to wait till 7.45. So we ordered takeout. As it happened, it took 25 minutes for some of that to be ready. The tables were still empty. We could have eaten there with our grandson, finished quite in time for the next bookings. But really, this is a place so successful they just dont care.
Come to Mullumbimby and get better Japanese than at most Brisbane restaurants. We had two extremely nice Sushi rolls, a great seaweed salad and a beautiful Okonomiyaki. We'll be back!
Fantastic food and great place. Since they opened this place has been busy and rightly so - the food is great (eggplant with miso being our favourite at the moment). Service is friendly and sometimes a bit chaotic but in the end you get what you order and we have enjoyed every visit. Book ahead as it is small and busy.
This restaurant is very good!! We had a selection of 4x dishes to share and each were great. It gets very busy so book ahead but well worth it.
Wow Japan in Mullumnimby! The last thing I expected to see but so glad I was here tonight. Good is great, authentic and the vibe in the restaraunt was addictive. Got to give this place a try.
Just love this place! The food is consistently delicious and super convenient for lunch. The rolls are great value for money and the vibe is inviting. ❤️
Delicious and reasonably priced along with the best service we have had in a long time.
My 22yo son and I shared the Agadashi eggplant, Teriyaki Tofu and Karage chicken and a couple of beers for $52. Ended up taking a little home for lunch. Tayo (Dao) was so warm hearted and there was such a nice vibe from the kitchen too. After all Mullum has been through recently it was pretty special to sit here after a beautiful afternoon hiking and swimming in the hills and share this amazing food with lovely humans on a stunning evening.
First time coming here... didn’t really have much expectation but after trying several food. I would say this is a pretty good food for the locals here.
Yummy...and is a good Santori beers. Wish it could be colder.
Exceptional food and wonderful service. I have been going to this restaurant for 5 years plus and can’t fault the quality, freshness and authenticity of the food. Beautiful little restaurant tucked away in Mullumbimby with cozy and relaxed ambiance. Would recommend to order different things to share between guests as they bring it out as it is ready and this makes for a tasty dining experience. Sometimes the wait time can be a little longer than one might want however everything is made fresh to order so this should be expected especially when the restaurant is busy. Really can’t speak more highly of this local business. Also I suggest to book ahead as they can get full in the evenings and you definitely want to make sure you get a spot. Spicy Prawns are my family’s favourite :)
Although I got my hand slit by the sharp lid on the bottle, needing band-aid. The food was good, very friendly staff, everyone says hello and goodbye.
Excellent Japanese food. Really OG spot. Good cooking. Even the sushi rolls for take out are freshly made and really delicious.
Loved this place! Cute and cozy but we didn't feel cramped at all.
Tao looked after us and made our dinner so much better just by being an excellent person/waiter.
It's pricey like you would expect Japanese to be, but so very worth the price.
This is my favourite place to eat in my favourite town.
It was a great Japanese place and all the plates we got were easy to split between three of us
