One of the best Thai place in Sydney, awesome place to hang out with the friends, or for a date night. Staff is really friendly. Massive portions of food, but it doesn't effect the quality of the food.. my top pick is chicken pad or buddy bites.
The menu is very extensive, so much to choose from! The service was quick and friendly and the food was fabulous. Large serves and so very tasty. Plenty to take home for lunch the next day.. thoroughly recommended!
I have walked past Bangkok Bites so many times and it’s always packed. Going there last night, I understand why. The food is delicious and the service is quick and efficient. It’s the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat before a movie at The Dendy. #bangkokbites
One of my favourite Thai places in Newtown! The pad thai and pineapple fried rice are especially good. We have been to Bangkok Bites on multiple occassions and the food has been consistently delicious.
Food was served quickly, waitress was polite and really made my day cos i was out with this awful guy who kept complaining about the door and somehow she never kicked us out. good stuff :)
I can’t give half stars on my app, otherwise I’d say 4.5 - mainly as this is a bit of a local so I love having this close-by. I’ve eaten here twice recently, the first time by accident and then soon after as we had some good noodles the first time. Menu is quite large and some interesting choices too. If you like spicy, let them know (this is Newtown so I think they tame it a little to appeal more to all). Food was all fresh and delicious and staff were friendly. Nice casual Thai in Newtown!
If you are looking for one of the most authentic Thai restaurants in Sydney, look no further! Bangkok Bites will truly give you a food experience straight out of Bangkok!
Service might not be the best, but as long as the food is great, then I’m good.
My personal favourites are the pad thai which comes with an egg wrap just like the one I had in Thailand, the masaman curry with roti (not pictured but boy isn’t the roti the best) and Tom yum with thai omelette. YUM.
Newtown and especially King Street has always been a Thai eatery heartland, and while you can't go too wrong with many of them, Bangkok Bites is a reliable performer that has very reasonable prices, food quality, and friendly service.
The chicken satay skewers are always a favourite Thai entree dish, and here they're nice and lean breast meat with two sauces.
The soft shell crab from the Light Bites section is a beautifully crunchy and perfectly seasoned dish that lets the crab shine.
The oddly named Why Duck is a delicious plate of de-boned roast duck pieces paired with a sweet and sour sauce, mushrooms, Chinese broccoli, and pineapple. It's nicely balanced and is ideal paired with rice, especially the moreish egg fried rice which is lovely and fragrant.
If you're in Newtown and craving for Thai food, this is one of the best.
I had this beautiful laksa like noodle soup with egg noodle, on coconut broth, some pickle vegetables to cut trough richness of the soup.
As protein I choose roast duck.
I wasn’t wrong, this dish “kao soi” was a perfect lunch for me.
Broth are rich with full flavour of spices and herbs to compliment the coconut base broth.
Thai style milk tea, that I ordered, in my opinion wasn’t a correct choice because slightly little heaviness add to after meal. Oh well...
Still a good lunch! 😝
Phenomenal food! Very generous servings for the price of deliciousness. We ordered Beautiful Bangkok and the Bamee Ped Hang, recommended. The flavours are sensational with little twists to some of the ingredients such as crispy basil to garnish adding that extra texture and pocket of flavour.
The staff are friendly and the chefs cook along a galley kitchen allowing that interaction for the customer experience, hip interior also!
Fast service, value for money and lots of yummy dishes which are far better than the average Thai place. This has become our favourite Thai place in a very competitive Newtown landscape. Masumam beef is a top dish and love the nutty money bags.
Cash only, atm next door though. Super tasty, authentic, quality food for the price and so much choice and variety on the menu. A large chunk of the menu can be made with any meat, or meat replacement, basically. They're usually super busy with Uber eats orders, so it did take a little while for a waitress to serve us but once she took our orders, it came out in about 10-15 mins and was so fresh and tasty. $50 for two mains with a delicious Thai iced lemon tea I highly recommend to have with your meal. Sit at the front table to people watch as you eat if you like that kind of shit, Newtown is perfect for it of course ;)
