Brilliant place to eat and drink! Whenever I’m in Sydney, it’s the first place I go to for refreshment, knowing that they treat all drinks and nosh equally.

So I thought I’d come for dinner tonight to show support after all the bullshit that went down this week. Before the mural was defaced, I didn’t come here much given the menu was a bit bland. However i was pleasantly surprised to discover the menu has had a serious overhaul - as has the dining space(s); there’s a whole new area downstairs that’s nice and quiet. I’ll certainly be back to work my way through the menu. More power to the team at the BVH.

Dog friendly pub with absolutely everything. Staff are great and very friendly. :)
They show every sport you could possibly wish for down stairs, UFC (best UFC venue in the area in my opinion) Boxing, AFL, Footie, NBA, the list goes on.
Upstairs, great relaxing alfresco area where the the pups can play.
Best of all the food menu, second to none! Catering for everyone, Vegetarians, Vegans and meat eaters alike. Just did a new menu and they have managed to top their old one. Weekly specials are always a winner.
Our favourite local and a must try in Newtown.

My pal who lives near the St Peters Station tells me that the pubs have some of the best food in the area. It’s the quiet end of Newtown and King Street is dotted with restaurants, but it is true: it’s hard to know where to go. This pub, the Botany View Hotel, is apparently famous for letting dogs have the run of the top floor, and I have to say I loved the neighbourhood vibe. A young couple managed to have a nice night out with a toddler, there were some folks who might have been taking a break from gambling, there was a guy at the bar with a full mullet. It was fantastic.

This is truly a pub you go to for a great meal,a glass of red, great staff and a comfy feel. Like many pubs in the area ,this one is dog-friendly..of course, not in the bistro area. upstairs is such a great vibe.  There are specials each night. The monday night schnitzel is a favourite  but on any night the meals are great value and made with loving care. Located in the south end of Newtown towards St Peters..chockers with energy and it seems to attract a nice crowd of people..

$10 meals on Monday and Tuesday and 2-4-1 Wednesday’s are a great deal. The $3 taco night is okay, not true Mexican tacos, but good value for money regardless. Classic pub with a bit of character and doggo friendly, cant ask for much more really. Would go again.

Holy moly.. had the pumpkin nugget special. Took a foreigner here and quote ‘best meal I have had in Sydney’. Was super healthy and impressive for the price tag!

The Botany View Hotel is having a red hot go at being a gastro pub. They've carved out a new dining room in back, brought in a hip inner-west menu of fattoushes and panko-crumbed stuff and are spruiking a wine list at odds with the otherwise exhausted look of the general bar. They have also been getting as many local residents in as they can to build up a return clientele. The missus and I popped in recently to check it out. Staff are really on point, friendly, helpful, hepped up. The dining room is mostly small tables, tables for two and they're all a bit close together. It's a smallish room. Although there is an upstairs, which I didn't see. We ordered the chicken and wild mushroom pie, which came with a sweet potato purée, and one of the daily specials, a baby octopus risotto. The individual pie was large and very tasty, lovely in fact, and the risotto was excellent, with a more generous portion of seafood within it than most pubs or restaurants normally observe. The meal options ranged from $19 (the pie) to $36 for 400g grain fed ribeye. There are a couple of good vegetarian options and mixed plates for $18. Overall a promising start to the restaurant. They could use some spot lighting over tables for better instagramming of photos though - apologies that these are a bit dim.
