Have been meaning to pop in to this place for a while and did so post a show at the Enmore. What a great spot, good selection of drinks, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and a very congenial host. Love the idea of selecting an album and hearing it played on a lovely Rega p7. We were a little late to sample the food but the menu looked yummy. Great concept, great place. Just go!
A really great place to catch up and enjoy the cocktails they have on offer, 'happy hour' is quite the bonus ! A relaxed and very inviting place, cracker staff and awesome owner, well worth a visit, plus, your choice of vinyl is terrific! Unreal :) , Ben.
Great place for social Hangouts, unique menu however the food does not taste anything special
Awesome little restaurant. I am not a vegan myself but found the boscaiola pasta as good as any other, with great prices and generous portion sizes. Must try!!
I recently went on a Sydney Vegan tour in Newtown. Have you seen part 1 of my tour? Part two takes us to the next two stops at Dr Earth and also Deepgroove Newtown. Our tour leader Anna continues the walking tour in Newtown and I am getting my steps up. It's been some time since I've been in Newtown so I'm enjoying the walk along King St. There's a lot of individualism in Newtown that I've always appreciated.
Lovely owner, great portions with fantastic flavour. I loved the creamy mushroom pasta!! Cheap happy hour too 🥰 would definitely return
After a gig at the Vanguard, Deep Groove was our choice of venue for drinks and a bite to eat. A licensed venue, it is a spacious and comfortable spot to kick back and relax. We had the grazing board and a couple of different tasty small plates including zucchini koftas and smoked cigars of stuffed chilli black bean and caramelised potato, plus some raw desserts. Everything on the menu is either vegetarian or vegan.
I've tried out Deepgroove twice - the first was to smash a great plate of vege nachos late one evening, and the second was for a proper dinner.
The food is absolutely delicious - we had the pizzas, the tahini cauliflower (must must MUST order this! It's so good), and the beetroot patties. Everything was fantastic and there was a great mix of vegan and vegetarian food, with the ability to make everything vegan.
Nice ambience and good drinks as well, and the staff is super friendly. We'll definitely be going back soon.

First try to eat in here! Whole based plant , vegan and dairy free cafe in Newtown! Love the place and ambience . I ordered no bun red magic and naked lasagna. Their favourite red magic made from beetroot veggie patty, with lettuce, lotus root and cheese in burger stack.
The naked lasagna made from all veggies with cheese, coconut and tomato juice.
Love it .
Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago due to the line up at the Marlborough being ridiculously long. What a great little find!!! Bar staff are super friendly and the cocktails are great. The whole concept of picking a record for them to play is quirky and lots of fun. Am returning again very soon.
Realistically 3.5 stars. This is a good solid vegan/vegetarian restaurant. Sadly the staff don't seem all to happy about their roles, I'm hoping I got them on a bad day. The food is ok, nothing I'd go back for - but good nonetheless. I wish them all the best. They have a great menu (sadly our dishes didn't quite live up to our expectations, both in size and flavour). I'd still definitely recommend you try them, in you're in the area. They're in a great location on King St, Newtown about 5-10 minutes walk up from the train station. Some street parking is available, if you're prepared to walk a couple of blocks.
The service was timely, even though they were a little busy. We ordered a pizza & pasta dish & finished off with a desert. The food was tasty & flavorful and portion sizes were just right. The deserts were divine.
Only 4 stars as they were out out of one off the desert options we wanted & given the price of similar desserts elsewhere, they're over-priced
The food was delicious and nutritious. The staff was very friendly with a jolly smile on their face always. Music and the decorations keep the place always lively. A must visit when you are thinking about a dinner around Newtown.

Oh so nice and so good, wait staff are friendly and very competent they helped us for a wheelchair access from the back entrance.
The food was so good too.
I'll come back soon.
Thank you.
Fun, mid-scale vegan and vegetarian pizza, pasta and Tex Mex in the heart of Newtown.
Considering the popularity of GiGis and the Italian Bowl, it's clear Sydney wants more affordable pizza and pasta restaurants with good vegan options. Deepgroove fits the bill here and the decor is a cut above casual or takeaway dining but below somewhere like GiGis.
The same can be said for the food. It's better than the average vegan offering, but again below GiGis in terms of quality. Don't get me wrong, the food is still good but the menu seems like it could do with some refining. It also seems like one of those restaurants where there are a few too many items/cuisines to choose from and this resulted in some confusion on our visit.
For example, it is printed on the menu that each pasta option can be made vegan. After taking our order, the waitstaff returned and informed us this was not actually the case. We reordered, but then they got the order wrong. Despite this, the staff were very friendly and overall it was still an enjoyable experience.
The pizzas were a standout, and the whole restaurant is a very comfortable space to enjoy a drink and some good food. I look forward to visiting again.
Great vegan options including cocktails and delicious food. The Impossible Burger was just that, great but I couldn't finish it. Great courtyard at the back. Not the cheapest place but worth it.

It's the wheelbarrow of Nachos called Rainbow Nachos ($17) that takes everyone's attention. There's cornchips, chilli black beans, pico de gallo, guac, coconut smoked jalapeno sauce and a huge artichoke flower. I like the coconut flavoured sauce that goes over the nachos and I enjoy scooping up the blackbeans with the chips. This dish is hard to stop eating once you start.
