Went here for mid autumn festival celebrations. Peter is a nice and funny guy, the waitresses were attentive, changed new plates for us, gave us warm napkins, helped us with our requests. The service we received here was excellent. Food came out at a good pace. Highly recommend the free range chicken, one of the best I’ve had in Sydney. Super fresh and not too fatty. The crab was delicious too. Their food isn’t too oily like some chinese restaurants and the flavours are good too. Looking forward to going back again to try their other dishes! Hopefully the sashimi chef will be back by then :-)

The only Macanese cuisine offering in Australia is now at House of Tong in North Ryde. A special nine-course Macanese banquet for Taste of Macao Food Month in Sydney. One of the things I love about living in Sydney is my food cravings are generally easily satisfied. If you search hard enough you will find a restaurant for your cuisine of choice. Sure, there are a few holes in our culinary landscape, but they are slowly being filled.
Came here for a family dinner, the service is excellent and staff and very attentive. The food is fantastic and didn’t have to wait long, highly recommended
Macao ninja
We we're lucky to get to try flavours of Macao which is available until mid November.
Macao flavours are fusion between Portuguese and Chinese flavours which created a Macanese style cuisine ... It's a must try.
My favourite Chinese seafood restaurant in Sydney. A go-to for family dinners and special occasions.
Always a consistently high standard of food here for dinner - quality ingredients, fresh seafood, generous portions, all the dishes are delicious. Especially love their mango pancakes for dessert.
Perhaps not the classiest ambience or decor, but I don’t mind, given the quality of the food - and not to mention our favourite waiter (Patrick) who’s so passionate, hardworking and knowledgeable!

A constant visit, great ambience and outstanding yumcha food and dinner food.
First of all, their yumcha, the 金钱肚 otherwise known as tripe is the best in sydney, very flavourful and makes me crave a second serving. Additionally, their egg tarts are also amazing, the flakiness of the outer an the perfect amount of liquid and solid proportions in the egg custard reminds me of the old Hong Kong style egg tarts.
For dinner, their chef is AMAZING, dishes such as fresh barramundi two ways is absolutely perfect, do not forget to try the fried oysters. Might sound weird but the boss freshly chooses each oyster every morning to ensure the customer's satisfied. The pudgy oyster fills the mouth perfectly with a rich sea taste, along with the crispy outer shell it never disappoints.
A need to mention is the shanghai delicacies such as xiaolongbao and the green onion pancakes a must have, the chef is situated in a small corner with glass panes for easy view as he skillfully and single-handedly whips up the great dishes in minutes.
Last but not least, dessert at House of Tong is something you can't miss. Complimentary cookies and fruit is made fresh daily but the mango pancakes are the definite hit. Perfectly whipped cream with fresh mangoes wrapped in a thin and smooth pancake ends the night with a pop!
A worthy visit especially it's easy parking, a far walk from the station but worth the uber/drive!
Top marks for service and ambience. Staff are attentive - your teapot is topped up without asking, and empty plates and bamboo steamers promptly cleared. There's a nice choice of yum cha delicacies as well as shanghainese dumplings. The restaurant itself isn't particularly large and is split over two levels with trolleys only servicing the upper level, and staff circulating food on trays to the lower level. It is one of the more expensive yum cha restaurants with the small plates priced from $7.80, and the food isn't all that differentiated from other yum cha offerings. But it's worth it if you're after premium service, and there's easy parking as the restaurant is located inside North Ryde RSL.
Love it. Amazing food and friendly service. Price is about 10% more and I can understand given the price of grocery in shops. This restaurant's waiters are elderly in their late 50s and 60s, do cut them some slack if they are not too attentive. Will be back to try their other dishes.
Had dinner on a weekend with the fam. Service was lacking, a little feel like they wanted to turn around the table for second seating, but efficient. The food was pretty good, the crispy roast pork and the pipi with rice noodles were exceptional.
Tasty Food! Typical Chinese restaurant, lobster 🦞 is huge and every dish is big size, haha I think good place for family. 🙌🏻
Nov-21: the club does not allow Australian citizens who have been fully vaccinated with Pfizer in Singapore into the club. This is not an issue with House of tong. But an issue with the club. Be warned
3 stars for waiting half an hour for our 7pm booking (many guests waiting in close proximity in the waiting area for their 7pm booking), but 5 stars for food. The vegetarian "spring roll" was probably my favourite thing, roast pork was generous and tasty, seafood pot was generous and the Chicken was debited and awesome.
My family and I loved House of Tong. Great view, good prices and loved the Yumcha.
Shall be back!

House of Tong is our favorite Yum Cha in Sydney. We have celebrated many different occasions as well as just having casual yum cha over several years. The food is exquisite, fresh and generous portions. Sometimes there is a wait for a table but that’s testament to the quality of food.
As for the service. I am having trouble believing the negative reviews to be authentic as one of the things we love about this restaurant is how accommodating, caring, and attentive the staff are especially the manager whose name I cannot remember but he always goes out of his way to assist us as my mum is in a wheelchair. They have the friendliest staff of any Yum cha I have ever been to and we never feel rushed.
All of the food is yummy and well priced but our favorite thing is the mango pancake. We have learned to order these at the beginning as it’s a very depressing day when they have sold out.
After lunch, we love to take some time enjoying the beautiful Avery downstairs.
I don’t care what anyone says, we LOVE you House of Tong 💜🥰💜
