Found this funky lil cocktail gin bar while walking around northbridge. The employees here are amazing (great for a chat), I'm not a gin person (more of a tequila drinker) but they listened to the flavours that i like and recommand a couple of cocktails based on that, and omg they were delicious!!! They have other options also, definitely worth checking out.

Organised a work function at this amazing bar for the weekend just gone, the food, drinks and ambience were on point!
John was wonderful to deal with in the leadup to our event and everyone had a great time. The bar staff were super attentive and drinks were made with quality ingredients and care, which you don't usually find at many establishments these days, especially not for a large event.

I had such an incredible time at this bar! The bar staff were very knowledgeable and great at recommending drinks - everything they made was exceptional and conducted with real old school class and modern banter! Lynden, Dane and Brendan have my highest regards! The owner John was nothing short of exceptional at answering any and all questions I had about booking the venue for an event plus his taste in film and everything artsy is undeniable. The entire vibe of the bar is niche and unmissable - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Came here with some friends last night and was greeted by the loveliest bartenders! I almost sentenced myself to an early death by ordering a martini instead of a margarita but John saved the day. What an awesome dude full of personality and charm, and one hell of a margarita making machine. You’d think it’d be a fluke finding one kind employee but Dane served up the same lovely service! Good drinks, lovely staff and board games, what more could ya want. Thanks guys!

After a wonderful dry martini and a sloe gin on ice, the venue hosted a wonderful beer tasting by moon dog which blew my mind. The vibe was amazing, the drinks incredible and clientele colourful ✨️ 10/10 highly recommend 👌

I have been here a few times as I enjoy trying new gin. The food is good, typical bar tapas, which works well when on a date. Sometimes the wait staff can be a bit dismissive but it’s rare.

Frisk – if you are on the lookout for gin, then this is the place for you – with around 100 gins ready to go it is an essential stop for gin lovers. Up the Russell Square end of Francis Street, it is quite small inside with exposed concrete ceilings and walls, while outside on the footpath are a number of tables, benches and chairs, under shady umbrellas.

Wasnt happy with the service. Wait staff wasnt friendly and didnt inform about the different gin flights they served. Waited 20mins for my drink as well. My friend's flight took equally long even though the place wasnt crowded. The drinks were soooo diluted with ice water. Tasted bad!! Just wont be visiting this place again. Disappointed!

Gin lovers little piece of heaven... in Northbridge 😇 . I've been popping in for late night gins over the past couple of years, its always great stuff. Had a couple of creative off- the- menu gins here before which were truly impressive 🍹 The bar staff are very knowledgeable and theres definitely other drinks and bites that you can indulge in. Gin Mare is my favorite , who would've thought a simple herb like Rosemary goes so well with a drink.

So much gin. If you enjoy your gin, you'll be spoiled for choice here. The $10 ramen and house drink special on Tuesdays is decent value. There's a wide range of sauces to choose from. It can get a little crowded, but there's always the outdoor tables (which will be a better option in warmer weather). The staff are nice and quite efficient.

Although I haven't eaten here, I did attend a birthday party one evening and it was so nice. The staff are so friendly and helpful. You are instantly made to feel like a local. A warm cosy spot to go to on a winters evening, or a well air conditioned bar to hop to in summer.

A great spot to pop in for a drink or three. Staff are vibrant, very knowledgeable and know how to make a drink! The bar menu is gin focused, but trust me, I don't know alot about gin but the staff recommended a goodie! Give the Gin Mare a go - it's a beautiful drink, and goes down very smoothly with tonic. None of that "after burn" you find with cheap spirits. The venue is cool, love the art on the walls and the bathroom, ha! Nice spot for a function too.

The best tonic has a large gin in it! <br/><br/>With over 100 types of gin Frisk is definitely worth a visit. If you are gin novices like us, the friendly bar staff will assist you. We tried the Gin mare and WA gimlet.<br/><br/>For non gin lovers there is a decent selection of beer & wines along with a small selection of rum, whisky and vodka.<br/><br/>The vibe of the place is great, with well spaced out seating, not too loud music and interesting wall graphics. <br/><br/>Somehow this place sat under my radar, now that I've tried it, will definitely be back.

Not a huge fan ... when you walk in its not obvious if you need to ask for a table or help yourself, food menu is very strange, some of the specials are good eg, baked cheese with bread. It's the second time we have chose this venue for a function, another great night was had by all! You can't beat the location, ambiance & service, not to mention the choice of Gins! Our party was for 100 guests with function platters. Highly recommend the roast pork belly, steam pork dumplings, assorted sushi & mini beef pies. We love the 'chilled' feel of the place, our guest could sit inside or out and at the end of the function they could head off to their favourite night clubs within walking distance. Thank you to Michael & his great team - we will be back!

Being a recent gin convert (last May), I find this place to be a delight when my best friend brought me to this bar. <br/><br/>This bar is nicely situated in a quiet street in Northbridge close to Hestia's and whenever I go there, I usually try different gin and I trust the bartender's choice because she is very knowledgeable about gin and she is quite lovely to talk about gin. I normally recommend this place for gin lovers like me, but even non gin drinkers should give it a shot. :)

Nice place! Loved the Gin Mare, and the soft pork jerky! Excellent service as well. Love the artwork on the wall. The tables and chairs were well spaced and there was a good amount of sunlight in the bar.

Went here for the negroni and Mac and cheese toastie night. Couldn't handle the negroni but that's my taste buds, the Mac and cheese was nice but could've had more flavour and more in the bread, the bread was also cheap bread and didn't taste great. Looked forward to it all week, my body was so ready for it.<br/>There were two choices of pate available.... chicken or trout.<br/>Bit of a surprise when we were presented with a pot of white "chicken" pate that just tasted like fishy cream cheese. Swore we must've been given trout by mistake so we doubled checked with the nice bar lady who said their pate isn't made with any liver??!?!?!<br/><br/> oh. righty-o then. disappointing.

I love gin! Frisk have a whoooole lot of gin, including my current favourite Gin Mare. They also have drinks for people who don't love gin. I like that even when it's busy I have never had to queue for the toilet. Maybe gin doesn't make you pee? Usually a cute French bulldog chilling outside. Cool, friendly bar staff. Was a fun place to hang out after the equality rally last weekend 🌈

The bar team at Frisk can churn out some of the best cocktails in town and I had confidence that they could pull this combination off with a hit. They have one of the most enormous and amazing gin collections that I have even seen and I figured that if anyone could match a cocktail to an oyster they would be the ones to achieve it.

We have been to Frisk Small Bar a few times before and we both liked it. Frisk is gin bar, so if you like gin - that's the place to go to! There are 209 varieties to choose from so do go wild ^_^ We arrived just after 4pm and there were couple of people there already. Hubby is a fan of cider so he ordered the Lobo Cloudy Apple and I am a fan of lychee... so I ordered ' That Lychee One ' cocktail from the menu to try That Lychee One cocktail has gin, lychee, elderflower, mints, lemon and topped up with lemonade. I left the lychee to the very end and I must say - that was a potent thing to do but hey I like it!

Marvelous little bar with a huge menu of GIN!!. I hadn't researched this bar before I arranged to meet some friends for a pre-cinema drink so I was pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful little bar this is. Plenty of seating outside on the street (although it was quite dark) and very dark and dusky inside. The bar and menu is an array of GIN! Although we rather stupidly ordered a glass of Pinot Noir before realising it was a Gin bar. Our second drink we chase 3 different types of Gin and mixers, the favourite was the grapefruit mixer with Juniper Berry Gin. Prices range from $10 to $32+

I recently had my 30th birthday at Frisk. From the get go they were super easy to deal with, nothing was too difficult. On the night, the staff were fantastic. They added so much to the night and ensured that my friends and I had a great time. The drinks were amazing and the food platters were great too. I can't say enough good things about this bar. How did I not know about this place?. Its tucked on the other side of Northbridge than I'm used to (I tend to find myself more on the William Street end), but it's the business. It was a Saturday evening spent celebrating a friends birthday. Having spent the evening in floreat having dinner at the lovely Boulevard Hotel we decided to make our way to Northbridge for a few casual drinks.<br/><br/>Having heard a lot of good things about frisk and it's casual atmosphere we took the punt and rocked up to this funky little bar.<br/>There were 10 of us in total with a huge amount of money to spend and a desire to sample each and every gin on the menu. :-D<br/>We were greated by a lady who was very much in charge of the bar but who emitted an attitude that ultimately ruined out experience and left a sour taste in our mouth. Grunting and hissing at us throughout the night a variety of sharp comments along with sneering at us from behind the bar counter this lady has the wrong idea of what hospitality should be.<br/><br/>Frisk is well known for it's selection of gins, and understandably so. So you can imagine my excitement (as a hospitality head myself) at the opportunity to taste a new gin in a new way. Asking this lady's advice as to which gin to get and what to have it with, I felt like I was bothering her and wasting her time.<br/><br/>Such a disappointment. I won't be back.

Cute but overpriced. $19 for bread and dip... there wasn't enough bread for the dip so we asked for a top up. 4 extra slices = another $5. Sorry Perth, I know you're expensive, but 24 bucks for bread and dip is a little extreme. Other than the exorbitant prices for snack food, Frisk is a pretty great place for an after work drink.

We had a birthday function at Frisk Small Bat and it was a fantastic night. The Frisk staff were extremely accommodating, really friendly and always had a smile on their face. The service was impeccable and they were more than happy to help us put up some decorations to personalise the venue. The cocktails were original and delicious. We ordered food which was also delicious and overly generous in portion sizes ensuring there was enough food for everyone. Overall it was a great night, perfect spot and nice atmosphere. We would recommend Frisk to anyone for a function or just a casual drink.

Worst service I have ever had. Stopped in for a beer on my walk home - will never make that mistake again. The rudest service I have had for a very long time. <br/><br/>I waited patiently in line while the six people before me were served by the two staff behind the bar. When it was my turn, I ordered three drinks. Once the female waiter had taken my order and poured one of my drinks, the guy behind me in the line made it to the bar and placed his order with the male staff member.<br/><br/>For some obscure reason, the female waiter, thought it appropriate to stop serving me and said to the male waiter serving the other guy behind me 'I'll get that' the male waiter, looking confused and surprised said 'No, that's okay, I am doing it.' <br/><br/>Exceptionally rude female waiter ignored the male waiter, stopped serving me and served the guy that had been behind me. <br/><br/>No apology, no reason, no respect. I don't like to be treated like a second class citizen, I shan't be back.

Bad service. I went to frisk to have a coffee there on Tuesday night. But the Aussie barista was so rude to me. He was taking my order and talking to his friend at the same time! He even did not looking at me when I was ordering. So that he tried to use the take away cup to make coffee when I did not order a take away coffee. Is he selling what he wants or what customer wants? After making the coffee, he kept talking to his friend so my coffee was not delivered to me when it was done. Is it serious? In the end, I paid the money and he just put the change on the table without saying any apologies. That was not my first time to have a drink in frisk but it is first time to encounter an unprofessional staff there. Hospitality is not just about service, it is about creating relationship with customer and how they experience your service. You should re-assess your standard, frisk!

Gintastic. Absolutely love this place, I've been here plenty of times, most recently for some midweek drinks for my birthday. My friends have been converted to gin drinkers by the excellent bar tending and advice. Great service and the birthday martini made for me with William Chase (which i haven't been able to find anywhere else) was an absolute bonus. <br/><br/>I would recommend frisk to everyone, I'm a gin drinker but even if you're not you will be by the end of the night!

Lovely spot for some time-out. Been here a few times now, love the cosy feel of this place, although the wooden seats can get uncomfortable if you want to sit there for a while and unwind, so I'd suggest trying to shotgun the sofa instead. The bartender can whip up amazing cocktails if you're unsure what you feel like, and is always friendly and accommodating. I do enjoy their selection of books too =).

I lost count of how many types of Gin they serve ... but there is a lot! This goes right up the range through to ones that have been discontinued.<br/><br/>The service is friendly yet efficient and they have recently started serving bar snacks now. I didn't eat as we had just come from dinner in West Perth. I know this bar has been around for a while but it somehow sat under my radar until this night.<br/><br/>Now that it is tried and tested I will be back. Seems to be good for almost anything, a date, a few friends, a birthday but maybe not more than two as it isn't THAT big.<br/><br/>Yet another cool little bar hidden away in the back streets of Northbridge. Amazing Variety!. As a whiskey/scotch lover I found this place everything and more! They have so many different types to try and quality ones at that! Not to mention they have an assortment of other liquors. They also really understand liquor and how it should be served. The staff was amazing and friendly and the atmosphere is great! Would you go to a bar that employs a woman that calls customers a "f'n arsehole" just for getting a straw for a drink? If you say no, then avoid this place. A friend asked me to grab him a straw, so I saw them at the bar and got one. The woman at the bar gave me a mouthful (it's a straw) about having to ask her first for a straw. I was in disbelief and said nothing. Then she said I was rude and a f'n arsehole. <br/>Hope the woman involved is dealt with, but again I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else who pay money to this place.

Service was appalling. The number of staff was clearly not enough. The person at the till seemed annoyed that we were asking questions about what was in the cake (food allergy). Our order then took ages to arrive. Coffee was very average. Wouldn't go back again.

Hit and miss. I must have hit it on a bad night - the coffee was terrible - too strong, grimacingly bitter and far from hot. The bartender walked past and asked how things were, when I said 'ok' he didn't hang around for an elaboration. I've had coffee here before on several occasions and it was more acceptable, however, I haven't had that 'best cup of coffee' experience that so many others have mentioned.

Thought we'd try out this place with two sober friends for a quiet drink on a Thursday night as we'd heard good things. Turned away extremely rudely at 11pm by a rude male bar tender, although the website clearly states open until 12pm! Bar tender was very rude. We like to support small bars in Perth but definitely won't bother with this place again... Could have turmed into a local for us and and a lot of our friends.. Wont ever bother again. First meeting means everything. Disgraceful service!!!!

Been here a few times with friends since they first opened (from serving non alcoholic beverages only till they obtained their small bar license). Best Small-Bar In Perth?. After moving to Northbridge last year, I was very quickly on the hunt to find my new local - and boy did I find it with Frisk! There is no easy way to make nice coffee, everything needs to be perfect - from the roast, to the quality of the beans and milk, to the cleanliness of the machine, to the skills of the barista, and of course the ambience and friendliness of staff ^.^ <br/><br/>Consistency is the key with coffee, and Frisk get it right every time; and not just with the Coffee :) The cocktails are to die for, and their selection of spirits rivals anywhere I have seen in Perth. <br/><br/>The interior undertakes some changes every now and then, and there is always something new which is really cool. The ambient tunes in the background always give this place a laid-back chilled feeling, which helps keep the atmos alive all the time. Come down and see what all the fuss is about with the whole "Small-Bar" concept, its a nice change from the usual!

Chorizos, coffee and biscotti. The chorizos were grilled to perfection, and the right amount of spice. But $7.. I admit I'm a stinge, but that's a high price for chopped up sausage in a small venue like that. My soy latte was made nice, but my partner's flat white was not nice. The biscotti there is also really yummy! But $2 a pop for a small piece.. I'm not bought.

Meh. Don't see what all the fuss is about. Coffee tasted nice but was too cold, on the verge of being room temperature. I get that coffee has an optimum temperature, but surely this was not it. No ice cream or cream available with the ice coffee, and a slightly bitter taste. Average service. Nice atmosphere though.

Awesome little bar!. Ventured here with some friends after a delicious dinner at Dusit Thai. Was excited to see that they were serving coffee as well as all the usual alcoholic delights as I was driving. Nice cosy atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. LOVED the fact they had board games on offer- Guess Who, Scrabble and the likes. Great end to the night :) : ) : )

Rude staff!. Anyone having lived or travelled to Perth are acutely aware of its dismal service with the obligatory obscene prices to match, espcecially when compared to its far better eastern state counterparts. But my god the other night I and my group of friends experienced quite possibly the rudest, abrupt, blunt service we have ever encountered in the Perth dining/drinking landscape. <br/><br/>Whilst the decor should be commended for its unique Melbourne styled theme the self-indulgent, rude, pompous, hipster wannabes that work or own this place are an absolute disgrace. Give it a miss.

Limited review. I normally do reviews on my blog but there's genuinely not much there so I felt a short review would be enough. <br/><br/>I honestly held high hopes for this place. When it first opened, the good barista made coffee was a godsend for this part of town. <br/><br/>Recently went back for a look to see what the fuss is about with the new "bar" menu. For me small bars are about the alcohol and the tiddie-bits they serve on the side. Food is very important especially if you're socialising with alcohol in one hand. I was sadly disappointed by the "cupcakes" and pastries available. Seeing the individual behind the counter wasn't the familiar barista, we decided for 'fresh juices' on a hot summer day. <br/><br/>Pineapple was not available - the wait person didn't know this off the bat. So I ordered a cranberry with soda water. It came with minimal ice cubes. The tomato juice was from a Berri bottle + loads of ice. The bar wasn't packed, but we had to wait at the counter. Maybe I'm just too used to having my drinks brought to my table after I order at small bars? The decor was fun & funky, but in day light just a bit over the top. Some might like this "urban arty" feel. <br/><br/>After we sat down and was chatting the bar guy kept looking over with concerned look on his face. Then he came over and asked if we had ordered anything else. This was in the spate of less than 10 mins from when he poured our juices - I mean what's going on here? Confused service over simple orders just doesn't bring confidence. All the other people around were just using the free wireless and maybe having 1 coffee or an alcoholic beverage. There's no sign of this fabulous "toasted sandwich" thing I keep hearing about... and Frisk's menu shows it's BYO food?! I mean the concept is cute and friendly to those who couldn't get a table at the restaurants around the place but... is the alcohol here really worth it? You'll have to work that out your self if you go and try the place.

Ho hum... I am not sure what all the fuss is about with this place. I had a pot of EB tea and eyed the stale looking pastries but wasn't game to try one. They just didn't look very nice.<br/><br/>The tea was weak and tepid and the table I sat at wasn't very clean.<br/><br/>All in all I was rather disappointed.

Appalling coffee and service. I'd heard good things about this place, so we thought we'd check it out.<br/><br/>They had one barista there working alone, and I'm not sure if he was new, but he was utterly hopeless. He took forever, mangled more than half our orders, us and the people next to us both wound up with free coffees because he got confused and made things no one ordered and needed to get rid of them - and after all of that, the coffee was pretty miserable.<br/><br/>The decor and the atmosphere is pretty awesome, but after that experience I don't think I'll be going back.

Great coffee. One of the very few places in Perth that serves great tasting coffee. That is not burnt, needing a lot of sugar, bitter tasting coffee which you seem to find in my most coffee joints. We went a weekday night, so it was quiet. Ordered a lemon lime brulee which was delish as well. Definitely will be going back.

Wow, what a great find for us. After some Chinese down the road we had a hankering for coffee and cake, and then we spotted frisk. A quirky new age decor adorns the interior, which just screams im cool but dont tell anybody. Our long Mach and chai latte were wonderfully smooth with good depth of flavor. A definate return visit!!

I like it for the coffee. It seems that cafes using five senses coffee seem to know what they're doing when it comes to a good cup. Frisk is no exception - very well made. The service on a not-too-busy Sunday was friendly and prompt.<br/><br/>As for the assortment of second-hand shop furnishings... well... it only works sometimes, not all the time. Regardless, the atmosphere is as relaxed as the pricing making this a worthwhile visit when you're up this end of Northbridge - and it's early to late-night hours are a great bonus for coffee lovers.

Good coffee and cupcakes! I had the cookie dough cupcake and will definitely have to come back and try some other ones again soon. It was a bit quiet because it was a hot sunday afternoon and it's not on a street that many people walk down but it's well worth a visit!

I chanced upon this place when I was exploring Northbridge yesterday (am currently holidaying in Perth). This place caught my attention immediately. I simply love the retro furniture and the laid-back feel of the place! The staff was really friendly too! Ordered a soy latte, but thought it was not creamy & sweet enough for my liking (probably the soy milk used). Still, I would think this is the perfect place to spend the afternoon away (both alone/with friends):)

Great coffee with a kick. Funky little eclectic cafe with a mix of different tables and sofas, which gives the place a casual and comfortable feel (there's even some stools made of fake grass).<br/><br/>Had a soy cap ($3.90) which was very good and had a nice kick to it. Definitely woke me up - haven't felt that alert that early in awhile. It was strong but smooth, and not bitter. Service was also good, friendly and relaxed.<br/><br/>Breakfast choices are limited - I got there just after they opened at 7am and they hadn't yet received their muffin delivery. The had a number of delicious looking cakes and cookies, and they can make up toasted sandwiches, but don't serve typical hot breakfasts.<br/><br/>A little out of the way but worth visiting for the coffee.

We ordered the chorizo with lemon, grilled haloumi and cheese fat bread (not a typo, it was chunky bread). The food was reasonably priced at $7 a dish, came out quite quick and was delicious. Nothing fancy, but did the job well. My only criticism would be that they should drain the haloumi a bit before serving it, it was just a touch too oily.
