Came here on a Friday 5.45pm dinner for 4. Service in the restaurant was really good.
They had drawing packs for the kids. Bonus.
They have an extensive drinks menu but of course, when you're in an Irish pub, you drink real (imported) Guinness not the fake stuff from CUB.
Had the Beef & Guinness pie which was outstanding. Also enjoyed on the table was sausages and mash. Kids had the fish & chips which were both great.
Interesting fact, they make their ice-cream in house (except the kids vanilla ice-cream).
Pricing is pretty good. Definitely walk out full and happy.
Highly recommend!
Best Guinness & Kilkenny in Perth. Atmosphere is enticing and intimate. Food is wholesome good Irish tucker. Close to public transport. Close to public transport.
Delicious food. Great music and atmosphere at the weekends. Traditional irish feel, always busy, good atmosphere. Great for those winter warmers.
On a rainy day in February this year, my work colleagues and I went to JB O’Reily’s to celebrate my colleague’s last day. How dare she leave me! And on my birthday as well. Anyways, all is forgiven because she is happy in her new role and we still catch up J so no hard feelings there. Upon arrival we were seated in the back and told to place our orders with one waiter at the bar. To avoid any confusion we were only allowed to place our order with that one particular staff member. Food came out reasonably quickly and were hearty serving sizes. I ordered the beef pie which came with mushy peas and mash. This dish was rustic and lovely – buttery and flaky pastry and lovely slow cooked beef on the inside. The mash was silky and creamy and the mushy peas was well-seasoned. I shared this meal with one of my work colleagues and we were both happy with our choice. Overall it was a decent meal. Decent price for pub grub.
We came here on Saturday night. Best Guinness in city by far and at $10 pint awesome. Other drinks are reasonably priced as well.
Entree of croquettes which were yum. I had liver and bacon. Really tasty, loads of food. Great value. My partner and mate had the Guinness pie which was also terrific. Really hearty food and good value.
The bar staff are also really friendly and the service was quick.
All round great place.
Went here for lunch today and loved it! Great atmosphere, great food and drink selection! Had the garlic bread, cheesy wedges and croquettes. Was amazing. Would definitely go again!!
Solid Tucker. Very good wine selection. Excellent specials. Generous portions while maintaining high quality food. Inventive menu for the city it's in only gripe is that you can't order bar food in the restaurant regardless of how much restaurant food you have already ordered. Also a bit anal not allowing take out. That said a phenomenal local. Great spot to spend an evening with friends. Hands down the best Irish Boozer in Oz (god knows I've been to plenty) that happens to serve really good grub.
Ordered the fish and chips, burger and pork belly.
Let's just say thank God for the pork belly because the other meals were a super let down. You can see by the photos the chips were super average for both dishes but the $24 fish n chips was the most dissapointing, even my local can do it better (and for half the price). The pork belly was the clear winner, it was delicious and highly recommended! The overall atmosphere was really nice with some Irish tunes and friendly staff. Would go back, but not necessarily for the food anytime soon.
Excellent food, generous portions, great prices. All pf our party loved it. Nice that the restaurant is away from the bar so is quiet enough to have a conversation. Disappointed I didn't have room for dessert...next time!!!!!
Always have a great meal at JB's be it Sunday Roast or special of the day or just a craving a touch of home.
Great atmosphere and always good for some tunes and Craic at the weekend
On the high recommendation of an Irish friend, we choose to dine at JB O'Reilly's over the many other options in Leederville.
The bar is a feast for the eyes, with virtually all the wall space covered in relics and rusticated signs and art work that add to the warm ambience of this Irish pub and restaurant.
They were pretty busy for a Monday night, but the service was friendly and quick. After checking out the blackboard chef's specials, I chose the The Little Pigs special ($34) while my two companions opted for the fish and chips with mushy peas ($24). The trio of pork offerings - medallion, belly and rillette were served on a very tasty pumpkin, sweet potato, spinach and cider jus. The medallion was full of flavour and very juicy. Mrs Kiwichef and our friend devoured their fish and chips, which had a crispy batter, and creamy mushy peas.
JB O'Reilly's boasts an extensive wine list, with a huge range of beers on tap, bottled, and lots of ciders. The rest of their menu looks inviting enough to warrant at least another visit in the future, and it's easy to see why this place is a local favorite with both the Irish and the rest of us! 😄
I went here for dinner 2 night ago with the Irish in laws. This is a great Irish pub with hearty food and apparently the best Guinness is Australia or W.A. We had 2 steak sandwiches which wasn't your typical steak sandwich... Was more of a beef/steak n gravy roll however was still nice and you can't complain as what the menu reads is what you get. The warm lamb and feta salad was fantastic with one very happy diner and the roast and pint special for $17 was a clear winner for value. (Bar menu)
The restaurant upstairs looked great however you could order of both bar and restaurant menus in the bar but couldn't order of the bar menu upstairs.... Strange
This is a good spot for a reasonable priced pub meal and great pre football drinks location! No complaints from the party of 5.
Beautiful chicken and leek pies and also beef pies. Mash was yummy. Too big to eat it all!
I always love a pie with fully enclosed with pastry but because this filling was so yummy I could handle only the pastry kid. Fluffy and crispy.
The entree sausages were amazing! Ordered as bar staff recommended.
Great for quick tasty meal before movies at Luna.
Will return in winter when weather is it more pie friendly.
Do yourself a favour, ignore the doctors best advise, eat a boxty burger every day for full week. I do it once a year and look at me.
Magic! Thanks Paul
Been here a couple of times with my parents and our kids. Good hearty food and very generous servings. Great service too.
Nice. Been here twice now, two different menus. Food was great both times. Lovely dining atmosphere. Decent serves, sadly we barely had enough space for dessert at the end, we ordered some to share. Delicious entrees, mains and desserts. The panna cotta on our latest visit was amazing! Would definitely go back again.
Plus they always have at least 1 vegetarian option :)
Beautiful cosy atmosphere- reminds me of living in Europe! Amazing food and very attentive staff- great place for special occasions and anniversaries
A hidden gem filled with an old world charm. Completely understated, the food comes in generous portions and a little oiled up but worth every second of that gym time. Don't bother with the health kick if you come here, go all out.
Good Irish pub food. Good place to go for a hearty pub meal, they usually have a decent special running as well. The place has a pretty good atmosphere, it's pretty much packed every night of the week. Noticeably large amount of Irish patrons, which hints that the food is quite authentic.
Love the cosy atmoshphere. We booked a meal in the restaurant for a friends birthday last weekend. Overall the food & service was good and loved the cosy atmosphere. Was disappointed however with the ravioli as the sauce was much too rich and heavy and 3 of us ordered it. It was tasty but could have done with a little more veg and a lighter sauce. Otherwise, the garlic mushrooms & deep fried camembert were lovely starters and the bread & butter pudding was delicious! Portions are generous too & great selection of daily specials. Will go back :)
We decided to try something different and try the restaurant, it was good food with huge servings, and great value in a very relaxed atmosphere. All meals came out exceptionally fast. The pork and beef are our recommendations. Staff were friendly and efficient with some of the best service in Perth.
Best Irish Pub in Perth! Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, live music, yummy food and yummy Guinness. My favourites are the soda bread, liver and bacon and the bread and butter pudding. Always a winner!
Good, hearty meals. Make sure you're hungry before you go to JB's, the meals are huge and you can't leave without having dessert. The bread and butter pudding is tops. All meals are well cooked, flavoursome and great value. They also do great chips :) The owners are lovely and the service is fab. Winter is prime time for JB's, hearty meals, cosy setting and beers. Don't miss it.
Unfortunately we had another disappointing dinner in the restaurant this week. My fish was under cooked and the pies weren't great. The Sunday roast is still good, however the restaurant needs a revamp. The dining area is starting to get very tired looking. A few small tweaks would do the job. Great pub but the place seems to missing the spark that it used to have!
Sunday Night. I came here with my partner and two other people and it was flat out, luckily when we went in to the restaurant the staff were kind enough to ask us to wait 5 minutes for them to rearrange a table and set us up a place.
I ordered the handmade spinach and ricotta ravioli and I absolutely loved it, it had tasty sauce and crisp vegetables mixed throughout it.
The other three ordered the Sunday Roast meals, one beef, one chicken and one pork. The pork and the chicken were cooked to perfection but the beef I was told was over cooked, the roast potatoes needed improvement I always have them with a nice crisp skin but these however very much lacked that.
Overall even though it was an extremely busy night and the service was a tiny bit rushed at parts we enjoyed ourselves and our meals and will be returning here again.
Finally remembered to book before the football. We had dinner here last night before the game and it was a great idea. Squid to start was nice, mussels were good but if you like chilli at all go for the hottest option - the 'medium' had a nice taste but not enough heat. The baguette that came with was nice. The Guinness pie on potato and mushy peas was the standout. Nice to sit and have a drink rather than being jammed in the bar.
Live everything about this place. Live music in the bar area, tasty wholesome pub grub and great service. Well recommended
Everything in one place music bar, dance, out sitting food as well I love this place .
We felt like pub grub in a cosy place with fireplace and it didn't disappoint. Our special main steak arrived before our entree. Waitress very apologetic but after seeing the large size of the mains we declined our forgotten entree. Steak was tender. Chips veggies and sauce yum. Great meal. My partner also enjoyed his apple crumble dessert. They also have great deal bar food. Will go back again on another winters night but may take a taxi next time so we can hang there longer and enjoy few drinks in the nice atmosphere
The meals here are really tasty working-class feeds. This is where I come for hearty comfort food. Casual, relaxed, warm yet the standards are high compared to other pubs of similar ilk.
Was eating at O'Reillys for the first time and had high expectations after all the positive comments I had heard, and yes it was pretty decent. I had the Beer and Guinness pie...delicious, others at the table had the chicken hotpot (?) and fish and chips...all good comments about their food. Decor is a bit cluttered but the service was great, our waitress didn't write a thing down but no mistakes were made...brilliant.
Went there for dinner with the GF Cosy dining area out the back Make sure u book it gets busy! The food there was A++ fantastic quality steak which was cooked perfectly and the bangers and mash with bacon were Awesome Pricing is mid range I would say and the serving sizes were fantastic!! You will not leave hungry!! Great to see you get good value for your $$ here with quality and serving size!! Look forward to going back!
Great food, great atmosphere. As my Irish hubby says "no real pub in Ireland has this amount of shite stuck up on the walls", referring to the plethora of old advertising signs/Irish photos/portraits etc etc - but we love the food and JB's pour the best Guiness in Perth. They have very Irish fare - you can order a pot of Barry's Tea if you don't feel like drinking the stronger stuff. Many of the regular patrons are Irish, a strong endorsement indeed. Try the cooked Irish breakfast with bacon, beans, pork sausages, eggs, black and white pudding with chips on the side - or the Sunday roast special or Beef and Guiness pie (the best in town) followed by a dessert such as traditional Spotted Dick (a steamed pudding with raisins); bread and butter pudding (heavenly) or Eton mess (broken meringue with berries, cream and sauce). Kid friendly restaurant, on upper level, the bar meals available on the lower level are great but on a Saturday night it does get rowdy. Can't get near the place on a Sunday when there's an AFL home game, very crowded and very loud. Overall, a great pub.
Neighbourhood Gem. We have lived in West Leederville for 12 months but had never been to JB O'Reilly's. The exterior of the building appears quite non-descript, but we thought it must be good as there are always lots of patrons spilling into the carpark.
What a gem! We could have been in Ireland! Decor is what you expect with an Irish pub - cosy and quaint. Service was brilliant - attentive and really friendly wait staff and the food was wonderful - Salmon cooked perfectly, rack of lamb that melted in the mouth and apple crumble just like Gran makes. All this and the prices are reasonable. We will be back.
Nice Surprise. "What a nice surprise", TimTam thought after walking into this Irish Bar. The outside might be less than attractive but the inside is a homage to all things Irish, menu includes. TimTam ordered the Salmon on Soda Bread ($15), out came (quickly) beautiful fresh salmon on buttered bread with capers, dressing and a side salad. All very good. One small compliant is the items on the menu could have more details. TimTam will be back to try the restaurant menu soon.
Can't recommend JB's enough. Wether it is for a drink, pub grub, dinner or to watch sport on the big screen. Great bar service with the best Guinness outside of Ireland, informed waitresses in the restaurant section with a fantastic selection of wine.
I haven't eaten in the restaurant part but have heard good things, lunchtime food in the pub has been excellent the last couple of times, the burger is recommnded.
Delicious and hearty food. Been here twice now, both times we enjoyed the food and will be going back. The offerings on the menu are great. Even the kids have some choice including irish sausages. Good atmosphere too - the restaurant is inside an authentic irish pub ... its separated from the drinking pub part, and is not noisy or anything.
