thanks for providing me with the best espresso and the grooviest music in Perth.
Consistently the best coffee! The owners Will and Jamie are so lovely!
Just had an iced latte and it was amazing, awesome beans great brew.
Highest quality coffee lovingly prepared by expert Barista’s.
Always up for good banter too!
Amazing coffee, has the fruit flavours from the beans
Seriously good coffee served with a small glass of sparkling water on the side. I look forward to this whenever I'm in the CBD.
Always good coffee and friendly baristas keen to have a chat! Sometimes a bit of a wait if they're busy, usually only 1-2 staff members there which means one person taking orders and making the coffees, but worth the wait for a good coffee :)
Good coffee and a really simple layout as implied by the name. Definitely worth a stop if you want a good cup of coffee, care is definitely taken with the product.
Yesterday, I ordered a "double espresso " It was one of the best I have ever had ,hot & strong , just how I like it .It came with a small glass of sparkling water . Perfect.
This hidden gem in Piccadilly Arcade serves only coffee ,nothing else .There is no food & no chairs ........just fantastic coffee .a local one called "Grand Central " The service is also excellent. If you love good coffee ,run ...dont walk to this fantastic place . It also won "Best coffee in Perth for 2017 " . BRAVO
Went there particularly after reading a 2017 review from Bean Hunter where this little cafe in Perth CBD was voted best in Perth last year. Was there in the morning just before 9am. There's quite a few customers ordered and waiting for their coffee. And three gentlemen was standing outside to enjoy their coffee, looks like some of them are new to the cafe too. Our coffee was made. No latte art was made, reckon they are too busy. And they pour the milk into three jugs to smooth the bubbles, end up the coffee is not quite hot, even warm. The flavour was excellent, with layers of complexity and long finish. The only issue for me was the temperature, it got to be hotter to enjoy for every cup of coffee !
Where’s the best coffee in Perth’s CBD? You might have missed it! Down the city’s many laneways and arcades, you’ll find some hidden coffee spots that are not to be missed. If you’re a street art fan like myself, and like a bit of culture with your caffeine, you will be able to spy some of Perth’s most vibrant works near some of these spots too. So follow the aroma of freshly ground beans and discover a favourite new coffee haunt today!
I walked pass SRO so many times but always hesitate to try their coffee. Decided to try last week and got blown away by their Candyman beans from Melbourne. It's really smooth and nice, surprised me big time. Barista knew what he's doing and friendly too. I would not look at them the same way as before again. Hat's up!
Very impressive! Smooth and strong coffee and the price isnt higher than other 'averaged' coffee shop ($4.50 for a large cappuccino). Lucky for me, there was not a long queue at around 8am but the guys look very efficient. Keep up the good work guys!
Seriously in the top 5 coffees I've ever had. I work in specialty coffee, so I know a good coffee when I taste one, and they were just fantastic. The milk temperature was perfect and the coffee was smooth. We tried the Kenya and the Guatemala, both were amazing. Highly recommend this place! Service was notable too.
Great little place with staff passionate about good coffee! Strong and flavoursome. Follow the owners recommendations, he knows what he's doing.
This is a little gem, I love their coffees and have never been dissapointed. Perfect balance and pure euphoria. Its only a little tiny shop and there can be a little wait at peak times.I'd honestly have their coffees every day if I weren't so lazy to walk over into the CBD. Owner is also super friendly, dont know him but hope he serves us coffee for many years to come.☕
These guys put an air of the fantastic about the way they take your order, manufacture and deliver your coffee. Don't know why but I always seem to wait soooo much longer here than other places. Coffee is good, service ok, love standing at the tall table and sipping from my espresso cup al la Europe.
Walked past this GEM of a find on way to hbf walk, the guys were really under the pump but were cool as under pressure. A slayer coffee machine, candyman espresso, I felt like I was back at home in melbourne! Love this place and highly recommend for all coffee fans!
Liked the interior of this cafe (I found the map shows how coffee spread to the world) and espresso machine. People here are always smiling. Espresso is quite strong but worth drinking.
Nearly a 5 star this place! Excellent hole in the wall with perfect coffee. This should be every persons go to place for a weekend coffee when perusing on Murray and Hay Street.
One of my fav grab and go coffee places in the city. Prompt service and friendly baristas, nice decor! The name is pretty self explanatory "standing room only" so don't get disappointed for the lack of seating there. Enjoy!
Small but an interesting concept. Manager of the place is friendly and he is also the barista. I enjoyed the coffee there. More for take always. As the place is not the cafe style whereby you can sit and chat with friends over forever.
Rather grab and go. While waiting you cannot help but be attracted to the machines used for the coffees. Very nice blue.
So if you are passing that alley, go grab one coffee and give it a try.
A small, retro styled coffee joint situated in Piccadilly arcade. Their name represents the concept of their shop as there is literally nowhere to sit apart from the cold floor. I've always walked past it many times, enticed by its rich aroma of fresh coffee but only after walking past many times, I finally made the decision to try it, mainly because of pulsing migraines caused by coffee withdrawal. So a quick order&go meant sitting wasnt an option. I wanted to try one of their 3 options of coffee beans from Columbia if I remembered correctly. I opted for the Candyman blend and ordered a takeaway traditional long macchiato. Amazing aromas and rich bitterness of the perfectly brown crema of fresh double espresso with a dash of hot milk to make it all the more creamy. On top of amazing coffee, the friendly baristas answering my questions on their types of blends made it all the more hospitable and inviting. Definitely a good place for a quick quality coffee.
I've always walked by this little nook and been intrigued by the 60s style diner interior, bearded smiles and the buzzing vibe. The two baristas were calmly and steadily rolling out the Wednesday morning orders, taking time to ask about my morning and the correct spelling of my name (I have had some interesting interpretations of Mikaela over the years.) Service was prompt. With no room to sit I relaxed on a sofa across the mall in enex 100. My latte ($4.50 for a large) was pleasant and just the right temperature. It wasn't quite as silky and creamy as I would of liked. Although I felt mildly disappointed there is no doubt these baristas know what they are doing. The number of blends and contraptions in that place are mind boggling. Worth a visit but maybe not all the hype.
While you can't sit down and linger awhile it is well worth a visit. It is one of the favorite places to crab a coffee on the run.
These guys really know their coffee and are the ultimate coffee connoisseurs.
I Eat Therefore I Am
+4.5
Black and white photos on the wall - check.
Fancy looking machine with retro styling -check.
Hipster barista with a bow tie - check.
Palpable atmosphere of disdain when someone orders a decaf chai latte -check.
Great coffee - check motherfuckin mate.
Their coffee is excellent. Their humorous sign game is consistently en pointe. I'd really like it if they could endeavor to be closer to where I work.
Hole-in-the-wall coffee works in the CBD where many of us just need to grab our fix as we dash onwards. Standing Room Only in the Piccadilly Arcade is a welcome (if brief) respite to the daily rush. Very good flat whites!
Absolutely incredible coffee!
Great coffee. Nuf said. If you're in the area try a coffee from here, one of the cbd's many little hidden gems.
Long mac. This is my local for coffee and sometimes gets so busy the queue is out the door, the man that makes the coffee knows about milk so thick and creamy and the decor interior suits the place too well!! keep up the good work
I love this place! I always struggle to find good coffee in the CBD that doesn't have overly pretentious staff. The coffee here is just to my liking, long mac topped up from these guys is killer! Always welcoming and very friendly. This is the only place I get my coffee now when in the CBD.
Best coffee in Perth. Love the flat white and long Mac here. So far the best in Perth! Tried the tonic espresso and coffee lemonade today. Yummy!
My new favorite coffee place
Best coffee in Perth. Pourovers are absolutely devine and the guys are the coolest of friendliest cats.
Perth's best speciality coffee store in my opinion. Fantastic staff who treat their regulars well. The following speciality blends I highly recommend: Candyman and Dukes. Try the filtered coffees if you have time!
Yeah boy!. This place is what the city needs. A great spot to stop and recharge whilst in the city. 8/10
Awesome little place for a great coffee and good service.
Ultra cool. This place is really cool. In the Perth coffee scene, this place really stands out. Whilst the coffee is great, customer service is somewhat slow - probably due to the big line waiting each time I pop in.
Favorite spot - best coffee in the CBD. I've been patronizing SRO several times a week for over a year now, and it has become one of my favorite spots, consistently offering (in my opinion) the best coffee in the CBD. Friendly baristas who are passionate about coffee, deliver fast service yet are more than happy to have a lengthly chat about bean origins and processing, brew ratios, pressure profiling, and all the other things that we coffee people geek out about.
Aside from offering pretty much every brew method there is from cold drip to cold brew (yes, there is a difference), siphon, etc., they have a constantly rotating offering of single origins from various roasters around Australia. There's always something new to try, from the big guys like Five Senses and Proud Mary, to smaller and local WA roasters that are difficult to find anywhere else.
Their only food offerings are pastries and various types of toast, but it allows them to focus on what they do best - turning out some of the best speciality coffee in Perth.
Great. The blend may not be everyones preference, but these guys actually know how to make coffee, a rare skill in Perth it seems!
The place is most often busy, and waiting times can be a bit lengthy but, quality is worth waiting for!
Great Coffee. Nice Coffee
Love it. Coffee is amazing!
OutStanding.. I have been to SRO many times before and see it as the benchmark against which to compare coffee places in Perth. Evidently, they are getting more of a reputation as they are getting busier and today was no exception. Upon arrival there were a few people in there and, as the name suggests, it was tighter than a baby mouses ear as we maneuvered to the register to place our order.
The choice of blend is harder to pick than a broken nose due to the wide array of quality they have on offer. We settled on the house blend 'Rock'n'Rolla' and while we were waiting we read up on the origin of the blend.
50% Burundi : 30% Ethiopia : 20%Brazil. I'm not Ghana lie, this unique type of blend is what sets SRO apart from the pack.
Hakeem Olajuwan would be proud of the authority with which the barista slam dunked the extraction on this occasion. It was a near perfect espresso shot, which is what I have come to expect from this place. I have nick named the barista the 'Mailman' because he always delivers.
The blend was unique. I can't say it's a favourite of mine but it's definitely.... different. I'd be lion if I said it wasn't worthy of your money. African love this place but at the end of the day my opinion is irrelephant because I think anyone who enjoys a coffee owes to their taste buds to go there.
I rate this 17 out of 20. I should point out that customer service was straight from the top shelf - polite, helpful and laid back, without the pretentious and self-important vibe that a lot of 'indie' coffee shop baristas convey. Two marks were lost on this occasion purely due to the blend. Granted it was my choice but that's the nature of the beast. The other mark was for the choice of music. Either way - the double espresso made this reviewer purr like a wolverine.
SRO, it's going to take a whole lot to take me away from you. There's nothing that a hundred other coffee shops and/or espresso bars could ever do.
Your coffee rocks! The 20% of people who did not like you , clearly don't have any appreciation of coffee or great service!
Flat out Freshness!. Huge thumbs up to the boys at Standing Room Only. The service, coffee and ultra modern vibe to this place is second to none. Wont get a coffee anywhere else in the CBD. Keep it up! Until next time ... 8/10.
Machine!. So glad a friend told me about this place, it is my new favourite. The place lives up to its name, once you have 5 or 6 people standing, waiting, in there it gets a bit cosy. The machine is amazing and great to watch the barista's who take their art quite seriously. Delicious coffee, big on caffeinated quality!
Charming and tasty. Cheerful staff, atmosphere and coffee :) Not obnoxiously cheerful, but bright, despite the mood lighting.
I love this place, especially on an early commute to work. Swing music and decor are lovely, plus I am a fan of 5 senses who makes the house blend. I always savour the toasty lattes. If you have a taste for it, they also offer a range of brew methods (cold, siphon, machine). The colour matched paint job, mood lighting and decorative wall of vintage mirrors open up the space while creating a cosy haven of style and comfort just off the mall thoroughfare. But the people and the coffee really make it.
I most recently broke away from house to try their Ethiopian guest blend on my way to work - it was really *really* tasty. I think it was my favourite experience of coffee to date - not just contemplating the flavour, like I normally would with a good coffee - but I was really surprised and delighted, it was hard to throw away the cup.
Awesome espresso. I wouldn't normally choose Yirgacheffe as an espresso, but I am glad I did. Really bright and sweet fruit flavours, clean and in balance, surprising creamy body. Highly recommended.
Great Work. Best coffee in Perth, hands down. Good guys too. Keep it up.
Only of the best coffee's i have ever tasted.. I'm a Barista my self, trained, worked and spent 4 months of my time in Melbourne drinking really good coffee, then later moved to perth. I thought i would never see good coffee again once i left Melbourne. But i stumbled across this place. I think it was one of the best coffees i have ever had. The single origin is the best. The house is rather fruity. Cold drip is really good, got a chocolate taste to it. 100% from me. Coffee machine is beautiful, very retro.
I will be back every time i go to the city
Awesome. These guys know what they're doing.
Sweet digs. First visit. Like the concept, good vibe, friendly crew. Have only tried the syphon, but will give my usual beverage a whirl when I revisit. Guys are very knowledgeable and happy to share the information with those eager to learn. Will be back soon.
Is that a Moped or a Coffee machine?. Machine with vavoom I think...good coffee...had a double espresso last week - a bit bitter but probably my CBD number 4. Will return for a Ristretto soon and give it another shot. Recommended...they just opened...people who try hard and want to improve should be supported. These guys should be supported.
Normally love going here for consistantly good coffee. Today was a bit of a downer- milk tasted sour? Refrothed milk? And the shot seemed to not shine as much - tasted way too bitter than usual. And most of all, a whole bunch of coffee grounds found at the bottom of my cup. Baristas getting complacent?
Best espresso in a long time. Quality coffee blends, resulting in the most distinctive and memorable espresso I've had in a long time. Guys behind the counter are friendly and seem passionate about coffee. There will be an again!
Lived up to my anticipations. Soy cappuccino perfectly delicious
Smooth coffee excellent brew. Ordered short macchiato with dollop of froth, so gooood. Can't wait to try their cold drip coffee and siphon coffee.
I'm not Ghana lie, this unique type of blend is what sets SRO apart from the pack.
Perth's newest espresso bar is Standing Room Only. As the name suggests, there are no seats in this closet-sized café. Instead, there's a gorgeous sky blue Synesso espresso machine and - if you're lucky enough to find a place at the miniscule "brew bar" - the open invitation to chat with the barista and learn a thing or two about the coffee these guys are passionate about making.
Lovely small space with the biggest coffee machine I’ve ever seen.
Stepping into Standing Room Only, I couldn't help but feel transported to Europe, minus the foreign language aspect. It's typical to find a small bar in Italy where you can pop in for a quick shot of espresso before heading out again within a few minutes. I am the first to admit that I have a sincere love of coffee and will be cranky for a few hours if my first (and typically only) cup of coffee is burnt or weak. It was a weekday when a friend and I headed down to the Perth CBD from our office in West Perth. We were keen to make the journey down to try the newest coffee bar in Perth. It is classed as a 'bar', because there are no chairs, no tables and very minimal bench space for you to sip your coffee. Never fear though, there is still a reason to visit. My friend David was welcomed warmly, as he is a frequent visitor of The Lounge Room, a café in Guildford that is the sibling of Standing Room Only. I left the ordering to David, who quickly asked about the single origins on offer and
Great service and very friendly staff, and excellent coffee as well, deffently going to SRO when ever I'm in the city for my coffee
great coffee here, one of the best, if not the best, in Perth City. also, i don't normally go for the cold ones, but their ice mocha is pretty awesome too. and very friendly staff.
Probably one of the best coffees in Perth. Great espresso and service.
Good coffee, easy and quick. There's one table you could stand next to and that's it. Not always crowded.
Coffee is really yummy I love it. Will go back soon
It's amazing! Pricey but it's all quality. I would highly recommend it. Also the coffee wasn't too hot for the first sip which I would agree is the one most pet peeve for coffee drinkers. A smooth taste and amazing coffee overall.
Nitro cold brew on tap! What’s not to love
When I buy coffee out, it has to be at least as good as what I make at home, and this easily surpasses that benchmark (many do not)! To get a recommendation on coffeesnobs is no small thing, SRO surpasses any other cafe in Perth. The SO was awesome. The queue at 6:30 is telling of a local favourite.
