Lit Homie
Summary: Almost lit/10. Meals approximately $15 + drink. Free water
Pretty good tried the basics as a casual. Two mixed meats with rice was pretty good, had the boneless duck and bacon for $14.50, the sauce on the side made it taste so good not sure what it was.
The fried rice was okay, had with prawn and chicken pretty sure won't really recommend the prawn as a choice.
Curry was good, good portions tasted fine.
Overall price is very good, cleanliness is not perfect but pretty high, customer service is excellent although no younger staff though from what I saw, the basic foods were good value for money especially compared to other restaurants in northbridge

Nice little restaurant hidden amongst the many restaurants in Northbridge. The noodle soup was delicious and the serving size was spot on (decent). Food was very fresh and cooked very well. The place was quite busy however food was served quickly and staff were very pleasant. There were a few staff around to help, which is always nice. Street parking in front of the restaurant is available but there were not many spaces. Chinese tea was only 50 cents pp which was great. Overall, this is a great restaurant and I will definitely be back to Ming's BBQ House!

A good place to dine in. Food was good, the price is reasonable, the serving was fast, the owner is polite & nice and the background music was some traditional Chinese music which was calming & suitable for the dining environment.
Over all its good. I've keep coming back here several times.

A solid choice of restaurant in Northbridge for Cantonese BBQ and Roast meats as well as Cantonese rice, noodle and side dishes.
Perhaps the speciality being the Cantonese BBQ and Roast offered very good roast pork, and a decent roast duck. However, the other food on offer is generally up to the mark too for a casual Cantonese meal centred around BBQ and roast meat.
They offer an a la carte menu with both sharing and single meals, with special deals available for lunch. Prices are reasonable.

~$14 for 2 mixed meat rice and veg. I paid another $1 for more veg. The duck was most bone but that's ok as the roast pork was really nice. For the price I'm very happy.
Shallot pancake was too oily - I think it was double fried from the colour.

I don’t usually review restaurants but was compelled to on this occasion. Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in Northbridge! Food was top notch and service was great. Highly recommend the banquet which has generous servings and great variety. Presentation and overall experience was awesome. Coming back again for sure 💯

Loved it. Cheap and Cheerful little hole in the wall. $8.90 for noodle bowl with pork, dumplings, tofu and the tofu was excellent 👍

Walked pass this place many time but decided to go in last weekend. The food was nice and well seasoned. The price was good. Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely go back for lunch sometime 😊

We came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and left utterly disappointed. We ordered a platter of roast pork and roast duck to share and noticed the chef chop off the meat, put them on a plate, and put the plate into the microwave, which meant they must have turned off the meat warmer a while ago. The plate came on to our table piping hot, but the meat was incredibly dry. Roast pork was fatty and skin was not crispy due to having been microwaved, the duck was chewy and tasteless. It was only around 8pm and their restaurant wasn't due to close until 9.30pm. We also ordered chicken porridge, expecting the porridge to be cooked in yummy chicken bone broth but we what received was plain porridge, and a few pieces of tasteless chicken on top. Needless to say we would never return.

We've found ourselves becoming regulars at Ming's now! The food is amazing. Melt in your mouth, super tasty, tender duck, crispy yet juicy, cooked to perfection!! The service is generally pretty good, can deteriorate when the place is very busy, but on the whole the staff are attentive and helpful. The restaurant isn't licenced but it's BYO and they don't charge for corkage. Highly recommended!

Been coming here for many years and the servings have been getting smaller and smaller with new management along with price increases and mediocre service. Won't be coming back.

Delicious, Quality food and service at a very reasonable price

Again, good food, good service.....good choice...

Great food and service!! The honey chicken is amazing!

Great food. Wish I could go back soon. It's BYO so take a bottle or some beers.

This place provide the best roast duck and roast pork in Perth...sucked in other places who had gone downhill since the generation change at Good Fortune.

Duck was always tasty without being over powering.
Roast pork was always freshly cooked and has the right balance of fat and lean meat.

This is one of my favourites, and I don't have many.
They serve a complementary broth (Asians call it soup, but its a broth) at the start, either a chicken broth or a pork bone mei chai soup. Its one of those little extras that I look forward to.

The only negative is the constant change of "chopper", the guy who cuts up the meat...This affected the way meat was cut and presented. To me, if a duck is cut up the wrong way...its ruined the hard work of the chef who roasted it
Alice H
They do very tasty BBQ and stir fried dishes. One of our regular dining place in Perth. Hubby and I always go there very late and they still serve beautiful food with a big smile. Very friendly place, highly recommended.
Hysteric Ape
The roast pork with egg noodles is delicious. Really nice crispy pork skin and the sauce on the noodles is tasty. Quick and efficient service and great for fast lunch-

As we explored the streets and back alleyways of Northbridge, my tastebuds got a workout too! Roasted ducks hanging in the window of Ming’s BBQ House enticed us inside. Here we tried roast pork, as well as delicious shredded duck in lettuce cups. Yum!
Grumpy Diner
Always good value, friendly and courteous staff. What more can you ask for. We will return again, and again....
Second best duck on William Street.

$12.90 for this kind of portion. You would assume that it tastes good for the price, but it doesn't. Yes it is pork FRIED RICE, but the PORK should be proportion too. Very bad. Never coming back.
Paul McDonagh
Hands down the best Chinese on William St, I've been here a few times, the service is always good, the food is great and it's reasonably priced
Eva Ou
The portion of the dish is large, I can not finish by myself as a girl. The food is good for the money. And the service is good. I am sure I will come back again. It is one of my highly recommended restaurant.
Tyson Jon Cable
One of the best menus I've seen in Northridge. Portions are large, tastes are authentic, and price is very reasonable. I'd recommend this place and go back again.
Lou
Great food with large portions. Definitely value for money! BYO is also free of charge which is great for weekend drinks with friends! Really friendly service! Definitely will becoming more often

WENT here for lunch with Tracey and both of us agree that this ordinary and common chinese restaurant is actually quite different. For one, it is actually clean and tidy. The staff is polite too. They even served us a big bowl of soup as a free entree. I tried the boneless roast duck and roast pork. The portion is big for the already slightly below average price it set. The roas pork is juicy and thick, but the roast duck is average and a bit tasteless. I'm glad they provide sauce (taste sweet like honey). Overall it is a great lunch experience!

My wife and I went to this place with a Scoopon voucher and found it a delightful experience. Lovely, delicious authentic Asian dishes. Also a great environment with polite and professional staff, fast service and nice location! I'll go back to try more.
UPDATE: Went there again last night, and became a bit disappointed due to weak service and extremely noisy environment as they had a party going on with numerous numbers of people. When we reached there everything was normal and we entered before more guests coming. They brought the drinks, entree and main meals all together giving the feeling you'd better finish off and leave sooner! The main meals became cold and hard to eat and digest later. The meals were still delicious though. It is definitely better to organised such events well in advance by closing the restaurant doors to public or at least leave a sign on the door to notice customers before coming in!

Yummy comforting food. Had a 4 course dinner for two, went home with a full tummy and 3 containers of leftovers, while my pocket is still alive.
Star Lady
The restaurant is located in a busy street with ample parking close by. The food served was plentiful, tasty and extremely good value for money. Whether you are looking for a quick bite, or a relaxed evening with friends, Ming BBQ House is well worth a look. Being greeted on arrival by a smiling, friendly face is just the start!
Jemma King
Great food and a value for money not often found in Perth. $11.50 per head and we could it finish what was on our plates. We'll definitely be returning.
Truth Be Told Australia
Went here for lunch today. Really enjoyed it. We had steamed pork buns, and soy chicken and Rice. Tasty, Fresh and clean restaurant. Loved the broth at the start too. Cheap too and service was also good.

First time we've been here since it was changed to Mings BBQ. Nicely renovated inside however the food was quite average. We shared a wet and dry mixed BBQ pork, roast duck and roast pork 🐷🐔 The meats were not bad. The dry one was SO dry tho, was like 😐 We also shared baos, one was steamed and one grilled. Both were not very good. Wouldn't rush back. Good Fortune is still number 1 👌🏻

Attentive service, food was great value. Mongolian beef was excellent.fried vegetables very good and noodles ok. Chicken and corn soup lacked flavour and was not warm hence discounted rating by 0.5
Steve Evans
Excellent food all freshly cooked after ordering. Service was good although a bit haphazard at times. Duck seemed to be a favourite with diners and my adult son thought it was good. The hot and sour soup was the best I've had in Perth for some time.
Janie Nuggets
Came here with a $49 Groupon 5 courses for two people. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and then we were seated. About 10 minutes later we got the first course- chicken and sweet corn soup. It was nice and hot and tasted like the traditional soup. Then we received the Peking duck with pancakes. They were very tasty. Next was the stir fry veggies and Mongolian lamb. The veggies were nice and still a bit crunchy, I don't like overcooked veggies. The Mongolian lamb was very average. Probably the worst dish of the night. When we received our duck noodles we were more than full. The portions were really big for two people. The noodles were bland and halfway through eating it, we discovered a fly in the noodles. We showed the girl and she asked if we wanted another noodle plate but we were full so didn't ask. Would come back again but will only have the Peking duck
JuJu
The food overall is okay. Staff were really nice and attentive.

We were given a large bowl of soup to share, it was pretty good, taste just like home cooked.

I ordered the mix meat lamien (bbq pork and duck). The noodle was kind of soggy and bland, even with the bbq pork sauce that came with it. The bbq pork and duck itself was okay, had better ones.

Went with a scoopon. Arrived at 5.30 as had master 3 with us. Soups were very tasty, lemon chicken breast battered perfectly sauce on side in a little jug. Sizzling pepper beef, succulent beef with a nice hit of pepper. Plenty of meat in each dish. Side of garlic Asian greens very tasty. Lovely xo fried rice. Unfortunately we did stay for desert as little mister grumble pants had enough. If I lived closer would definitely return as food on menu is reasonably priced and each item ordered had been cooked well and was very tasty.
Came to this fabulous venue for a corporate event with some colleagues and shared a fantastic dinner, wow 5 star quality service and food quality. Will definitely make this a regular spot.

Finishing off a 7 course meal with just two people had proven to be quite a challenging mission to accomplish. Andrew and I went to Ming’s BBQ House on a Saturday evening to utilise a Scoopon deal where we paid $45 for a 7 course Chinese dinner (from starter to dessert). This happened after we read OnePointFive review about her dinner. When Andrew first saw the voucher, he said that photos of the dish looked quite small and we'd probably ended up with vacant space in our stomachs afterwards.

This restaurant used to be Golden King BBQ House. New owner has renovated & decorated the restaurant, now looks modern & so much better.

I bought Scoopon voucher for 4 people and these are what we get:
- 4 soups: Sour and Spicy & Wonton Soup were nice.
- 2 entrees to share: Shredded Duck in Cabbage & Peking Duck were good.
- 2 fried rice: Seafood & Combination, both tasty.
- 2 vegs dishes: Mixed Vegs with Sambal & Kai Lan with Garlic, freshly made.
- 2 chicken/pork/beef dishes: Lemon Chicken (so so) & Pork Mince and Eggplant with Sichuan Sauce in Claypot (a bit oily to my liking).
- 2 seafood dishes: Stuffed Three Treasures (great) & Deep Fried Fish Fillet with Chilli and Pepper (not bad).
- 4 desserts: Vanilla Ice Cream with Black Sesame Mochi. Love the ice cream but not so much of the mochi.

We ended up with 4 full containers to take away coz it's just too much and we couldn't eat them all. It's such a great deal. Service was great. Lady owner was really nice & accommodating. We would go back for sure.
Perth Critic
Came here with a Scoopon. 7 courses, was so worth it, which included soup, entrée, 2 mains and 1 veg dish, fried rice, dessert and drinks. Some food are quite salty and others bland but with a Scoopon it's definitely value for money!

Golden King Barbecue was a favourite eating establishment of my colleagues, when it opened 18 months ago, the quality of the meat used was stunning given the prices being charged. Unfortunately, economic reality set in and the quality of meat used declined dramatically as did our regularly patronage.

Never let me down. I have been eating here for the past 5 years.. food is always fresh.. lunch trade is busy and never have to wait to long. Broth on arrival is amazing bbq pork and roadt pork are my faves. Veggies are always hot crisp and fresh. Than you for the amazing consistency of you restaurant. . Love it ..
MJ
BBQ Duck. Perfectly cooked duck and not too salty good portion size and great price
Regular Diner
Not Worth the Effort. As a Good Fortune devotee who is somewhat offput by their indifferent service I took the family to this little charmer. Well charmer it turned out not to be. The duck was awful and that was about the best dish we had. My recommendation is that if the Good Fortune is closed then go home and wait until it opens. This is certainly not a substitute.

For all the regulars. The boss ( BBQ Master) has been away for the last two weeks. Have a look in the window before you go in, didn't ask when he will be back.

Roast pork is king. Duck is meh.. Can't fault the roast pork except it sometimes comes out a little cold so we just get take-out now and heat it up in the oven at home. The crackling is spot on and never rubbery and the meat is seasoned nicely.
We also always get half a soy chicken which is usually moist and very tasty but recently that has changed a little and has come out a little bland and dry. Pick your game up golden king!
I stopped getting the duck a while ago as it's not very cost efficient to get a bony skinny duck with hardly any meat with mostly skin and fat and bones. I wished some place in perth would do roast goose which tastes just like duck but has plenty of meat. I didn't even know about roast goose until my trip to HK. Hole in the market there!

Good Food,Good Price. Roasted duck and roasted pork very good

Delicious Roast Duck. Had the duck today. It was excellent. I've been disappointed recently with the duck from Good Fortune so this is my new choice. Delicious!

Peking Pleasure. GKBBQ provides a more than solid alternative as a "roast/bbq meat/fried noodles" eatery. A key differentiation, as others have pointed out, is the ability to order delicious Peking Duck on demand and have it served to you in quick time.

I do feel the need to address some of the critiques raised by other users regarding the alleged poor service levels at this restaurant, particularly from the "boss lady". This seems to be a bit of theme within the reviews and those that have visited the restaurant will know who is being referred to, as there is one female staff member who is more authoritative than the others.

I can say the negative perception of the service here is not consistent with my experience. On my most recent visit, I requested an order of 3 Peking Ducks as an appetiser, to which the lady recommended I reduce as she felt the order would be too substantial. Whilst I disagreed with her view, I appreciated the gesture as she was looking out for my best interests at the expense of the widely accepted Keynesian principle of profit maximisation. Furthermore, she was not to have known that my eating colleagues and I thrive on a high-salt diet. When the order was finalised, she gave a wide grin and a "thumbs up" signal - anything but unfriendly.

The peculiarities with my order did not cease there, however, as I requested that the fried noodles (Peking Duck 2nd course) not contain any bean sprouts, as they are derived from legumes which I try to avoid at all costs. Alas, when the noodles were brought out, they did in fact contain bean sprouts. Almost simultaneously as this registered in my mind, I was somewhat startled as the lady immediately swiped the plate of noodles off the table so that the error could be rectified. I heard her scolding staff members in the kitchen about the error - perhaps the nastier side of her as described by others however this was with the intent to please the customer.

My final comment may be somewhat contradictory given the length I've gone to in defense of the restaurant's service levels (I did not want the character assassination to overshadow this restaurant's quality):

For those who are giving this eatery the thumbs down due to service/lack of smiles from the staff, I remind you that this is Urbanspoon and not Friendster. I enter this restaurant not to address the innate human desire for friendship/companionship, but to satisfy my eyes, tastebuds and stomach - which should be the bottom line for all restaurant reviews. Was this achieved at GKBBQ? 3 Peking Ducks later, the answer is a resounding yes.

Rude service from old lady cashier, didn't even say thanks after paying. Service from other staff is ok but the old lady (owner?) is rude. The food tastes reasonable but had a headache and felt dizzy after. Much better food at Good Fortune up the road.

Lunch, chilli and duck fix. Often come here for lunch.
The duck is good and the roast pork as well. Relatively consistent.

But definitely try to get extra chilli... Their chilli oil is great. But the lady boss can be stingy with the chilli which is a bit of a downer sometimes.
Angry_cat86
Depends on the day that you go. Myself and my partner are regulars here as we are both duck fanatics. However I must stress that the roast duck on the weekend peak periods (Friday and Saturday night) is far superior to the Weekday duck as the early week ducks almost always are served cold. The stock and sauces served along side are superior to a lot of other restaurants that do not know their condiments. Also the complimentary soup is a nice touch. Service wise, at first they were very cold and dismissive however after regular visits they are very attentive to us and take the time to make sure we are served well. In saying that this is unique as my friends have had a completely different experience service wide. Non duck dishes I recommend:
- garlic oyster broccoli
- special pork ribs
- scallops and snow peas
- special chicken clay pot

Do not bother with the satay as it is very bland.

Definitely worth a try as it is very cheap and worth while.

Food was Cold. Visited here mid week. BYO (thank goodness) a plus but cash only restaurant so come prepared. Initial service was good with a complimentary soup arriving quickly. However the waitress did not understand English so was a point and order system and you really had to wave them down for anything additional like a water which was not provided at the start of the meal. Ordered roast duck which came only just warm, broccoli with oyster sauce which was nice, vege fried rice which was average at best and a few entree's. Came to $88.00 which I thought was a lot considering the size of the serves and the type of food. There are better places around to eat than here for Chinese style food.

I had the misfortune of dining here tonight. Good Fortune Roast Duck House was closed, so we thought we'd give this place a try. We would have been more satisfied dining off the floor of the Northbridge public toilets. Food tasted terrible. Meat was cold. We asked for it to be deboned and they brought out the most emaciated duck they could drag out of the local lake - and by that I mean it was 98% bone with a couple of skerricks of cold, flavourless meat. A waste of a meal and frankly not worth me missing out on the first 10 minutes of The Bachelor this evening. Safe to say there is as much chance of me dining here again as there is the earth rotating backwards.
Food Goes In Here
Made the mistake of going here after Good Fortune was closed. I ordered a half duck and asked for it to be boneless, which it wasn't. It was also a bit cold. Also had roast pork and BBQ pork, neither were impressive for a place that should pride themselves on these dishes. Don't waste your time with the satay chicken entree. The two cans of coke were the only things I enjoyed. Not totally in edible, but there was a lot to be desired when compared to some of the other places within a few minutes walk. They also need to get EFTPOS.
Sinead
DUCKKKKK!!. This place does amazing Peking duck, forget lining up for half an hour and the good fortune roast duck house, this place is where it's at!
Tony
I would say the best roast pork in town. 5 star quality! Come here twice a week.
Greg Thompson
Eftpos please. They have good Peking duck.
Amy Meacock
Good food! Roast duck and bbq pork are delish! Good service too. Only complaint the floors were very sticky, but didnt put me off!
Xiao Dong
This is gotta be the worst hk bbq restaurant I have been to. service was bad, food was pretty dreadful.

bbq pork was dry/tasteless. never again
Anni
All good. Food is good, especially for the price. Service is no frills and can be a bit abrupt, but usually quick and efficient.
JayGee
Best Peking duck I've had! I've brought some many people here for peking duck that i wish they had a loyalty program :P
Had the duck in plum sauce for the first time here, it was yummy as. I've already got 3 more groups of people lined up to try their Peking duck!
Alfred
Absolutely Traditional. Straight away a bowl of soup on the table once we are seated. Ordered Beef Fried Ho Fun (dry) and Roasted Duck with Noodle (dry). And they are simply delicious and traditional Canton / Hong Kong style. The roasted duck skin is crispy, thin and have a thin layer of fat underneath. The duck meat is juicy and marinated beautifully. The Ho Fun is not oily and seasoned very well. I will definitely go back if I got a home sick...
Boo You
Dont go there Customer service is very shocking very very rude service by the cashier I never heard off anyone charging for sauce to eat with BBQ pork
Eight Seconds Of Food
Great for a quick bite. Most of the roast dishes are pretty good and I regularly order the roast pork and tofu with rice.

One of the best things I like about this place that makes it stand out from the other BBQ places is that you always get complementary soup, even if you are just dining for for one!
Lachlan
Excellent. Really good food at a great price. Great duck and a roast pork stir fry. Very good
GAVALAAA
I came here as it had a high % on urban spoon - but was very disappointed. Bland food with absolutely no flavour. You get what you pay for - cheap and nasty. I would recommend going down the road to "The gourmet cafe" or "Hong Kong BBQ" for great food!!
John Doyle
Ducklicious!. This is one of those restaurant gems, where you get extraordinary quality food for a reasonable price. Don't be fooled by the interior, the duck and pork will surpass anything you get at much fancier restaurants.

We tend to get the duck done two ways, which is AMAZING!
Charm White
We know there are other roast duck places in northbridge but why go anywhere else when you can get such delicious duck at golden king! Plus you get free soup :)
Chuck Bass
Suckling pig!!. Usually have it hanging at the window!
So much better then roast pork!
