Thank you, Folklore, for making space for us yesterday to bring in all the kids and parents from our little one's birthday party at the playground. You cleared a lovely spot for us and there was a mat down for the kids to play and lounge chairs for the parents to relax and watch the choppy waters of the Port! And so many great board games to choose from! All of the kids had a really good time spending half the party running around at the playground and the other half relaxing and playing games at Folklore. As usual your hot drinks are totally on point and you were even so kind as to loan us a knife to cut the birthday cake when mine got packed up when the downpour came! And as always, thank you for providing vegan food options. We are forever your fans, truly. Thank you so much, you saved the day for us.
Had an eggplant vegan sub on the recommendation of staff and coffee, it was fabulous would go back again ,staff friendly and helpfull, location wonderfull need the sunnies glare of the water but well worth the visit and good prices
What a view and what the hell?
Seriously love this place!! We went here for a brunch with the family and what?! They probs have the best location for a cafe in port adl! Wow!!
Food
We ordered the diy breakfast, benedicts, pancakes and some delicious pork-fennel sausage roll. They were all delicious and the sausage roll with that jam was to die for. Very fresh and very satisfying meal. The juice was okay and the hot beveraged were decent.
Service and Atmosphere
Friendly and very casual staff. Kinda hard to identify which is who because there were all wearing casual clothes instead of uniforms. Kinda fun tbh. The view and the relaxing ambiance of this place would be the other reasons of me coming back. Very satisfying and unique experience!
FEA Rating: 8.5/10
Love this place. Relaxing different friendly staff great food. Looking for something different this is the place. Best hot chocolate and scrambled tofu! Yum
Amazing food and coffee, best scrambled eggs I have ever had, I have been telling everyone about it and Beautiful atmosphere
I will be coming back again.
Hipster cool and comfy vibes by the water. Coffee was fantastic. GF treats, we shared the brownie and the honey and pistachio baked cheesecake, yum! Cheesecake and coconut milk dirty chai was a touch too sweet, but that brownie was perfection š The view also makes this a spot worth returning to if Iām in the area for sure.
Beautiful location, just next to the water in Port Adelaide. Industrial inspired setting matches the building around the area. They didn't have the orange mocha but they made a mint mocha for us instead. Menu is a little limited though, but a good place to relax.
Probably the best Cafe in Port Adelaide. Absolutely fabulous situation, while seating out over the water of the harbour. Extremely relaxing enjoying a fine DeGroots Roasted fresh coffee. On offer is a small display of tempting food. I sat in a comfortable lounge chair, relaxing as I looked out across the water enjoying an excellent coffee. If this was Sydney it would be a multi million dollar restaurant. Enjoyed chatting with the owner, told him I will return.
Great views of the river while you're nice and warm inside. Salmon was delicious and jaffle was huge with amazing cheese and bread. So happy we stumbled upon this cafe on the way to the playground
Really cool cafe. Gorgeous views of the river, super spacious inside with outside seating too. The waffles were delicious and my partner said his green eggs and ham were amazing! If I lived closer I would go here way more often.
Lovely location, fabulous food. Visited Folklore cafe recently after my mum and aunts raved about it! It's right on top of the river and you can sit out on the deck or inside. The food was tasty, and creative. I shared the gingerbread waffles with caramelised orange sauce and figs and a vegetarian dish with added haloumi, but was tempted by the rest of the menu. The house baked beans were some of the best I've had in Adelaide. I'll definitely be back to try more!
I cannot rate Folklore Cafe enough! First of all the place is a beautiful sight, situated at Harts Mill over the wharf you get the most beautiful view of the Port River and you may even spy a dolphin or two! Because of its location the space is gorgeously filled with natural light making for the perfect place to relax. The cafe is also furnished with vintage and second hand gear but you never feel like you're amongst anything that's about to fall apart or dodgy; it's styled so perfectly.
In the midst of everything Golden Gaytime, Folklore have waffles; honeycomb icecream, nuts and chocolate sauce. Delicious! You can't go past the haloumi burger which is very generous and comes with thin sweet potato crisps. I also recommend the fig and banana loaf if you're just after a snack.
There's also a selection of fresh juices on offer alongside small tarts and brownies in the cabinet which appear to come from just over the road at Mayfair Bakery.
How should I bring my baby in?: Hell you could bring them in a tractor and still have room. But don't do that. The entry has a smooth ramp and there is plenty of room to bring your pram and park in next to any table. I often come here with my toddler and whilst he does try to escape frequently there is plenty of room for them to sit and play on the floor over by the couches. Good old Ikea highchairs are available. We then make our way to the fabulous playground just next door.
Menu is small but what they do is all good. I had some amazing sardines on sour dough that had great flavour. Coffee is great. Staff are really friendly. Can have your dog on the balcony area.
As read in most reviews the location is beautiful. I also highly recommend the food! We had halloumi burger and ragu mushrooms. 5 stars for this!!
We were told that our food would take 1 hour, so this isnāt a complaint, but some constructive feedback for the owners. The long wait is because the kitchen is āsmallā. Given the space this restaurant has, one would think a practical solution for this problem would be to expand the kitchen? Having been told about the wait, we knew what to expect. However, I did overhear 1 customer cancel their breakfast because of the wait and another inquire and complain as they hadnāt been told, after waiting 45 minutes.
Surely working to improve this situation would be better for business and customer satisfaction??
Unique location with tasty meals and good coffee plus they do very large pots of chai tea with soy and honey infuses. The eggs Benedict is next level amazing. The purƩe and choice of flavours is excellent.
I really enjoy my breakie here and will be back next time Iām in Adelaide. The food was great and the service equally good.
Such an awesome cafe with an incredible view! You're hanging out over the water which is just spectacular, especially when dolphins pop up right next to you! The food was excellent, coffee was good and staff were friendly. Certainly a hidden gem worth checking out when you're in the Port Adelaide area.
Foodā didnāt wait too long, good portion, taste alright
Latteā canāt see the ice cream
Serviceā staff are friendly and nice
Ambienceā as expected and spacious
