Jamu has been on my go-to list for a year and I finally got to go. Its name is inspired by the Malay word meaning 'to feast or to eat heartily' - which basically sums up my dining experience here :) Before I start, I really want to emphasize how amazing the service was. The guy who served us was very attentive, informative, and helpful thoughout the night letting us sample different wines and modifying Feed Me Menu for us to taste their best dishes #bigprops! $58 Feed Me Menu came with Freshly Shucked Oysters, King Fish Ceviche, Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, Fried Rice, Pork Hock, Grilled Greens and Coconut Sorbet. I personally loved King Fish Ceviche and Pork Hock.
King fish ceviche went harmoniously together with its savoury chips. It had a hint of fresh citrusy kick to it which was refreshing. I can honestly eat this forever.
Pork hock was HUGE but also delicious! It was roasted all around and had this crispy cracklin skin glazed with sweet sour sauce. Meat inside was so juicy and tender, literally melts in your mouth as soon as you put it in your mouth. You can tell that melted fat from the skin got infused into the meat making it more tender and succulent. It was absolutely intoxicating!
Pro Tip: they are chaging their menu in a few weeks so make a reservation soon if you'd like to try their current selection!
Offering a refined Modern Australian & Asian fusion dining experience, the unique yet perfectly executed dishes at Jamu are bound to satisfy.
From the gigantic Pork Hock to the small and delicate Coconut Bun, each and every component is carefully designed to compliment each other perfectly, to create the perfect flavour harmony.
SO GOOD. Literally all the food we had (and we ordered a lot) was incredible. The service was amazing - same owner as a thousand blessings. Highly recommend.
JAMU is the perfect go to for a quiet drink with a beautiful surrounding. The unique architecture is stunning to sit and appreciate. Their cocktails are mighty fine with their happy hour being one of the best in the area. So incredibly lucky to live so close. Defiantly a regular taking all my friends who also share the love for the beautiful customer service and their chefs do an amazing job ensuring all meals are super tasty.
Great food and flavours - enjoyed every dish. Great ambience and cosy location. Would definitely return!
Jamu: A great place to feast and eat heartily, according to the Malaysia culture.Â
Dining is always best done together with those who hold great value in our busy lives, so itâs a blessing that weâve found a venue with the perfect vibe and menu to allow this to happen in the heart of Richmond.
Jamu was brought to my attention by players of the football team which I strongly support, Hawthorn Hawks. Co-owner James Frawley & Isaac Smith know the importance of coming together, and itâs on the footy field that they do it with flair. Theyâve teamed up with Evelyn Lau, and created something easily described as âdining magicâ.Â
The interior echoes the fusion theme in the kitchen, with a mixture of copper, mesh and custom designed solid timber tables that are a nod to both local materials, and Asian style.Â
A well-executed culinary experience, headed by Calvin Wong in the kitchen, is inspired by the blend of Asiaâs rich sweet, spicy, sour and salty flavours. From express lunch menu items, through to the ala cart menu with shared plates, large plates, and desserts; itâs an experience that certainly affords us the opportunity to feast. Stand out dishes include the Cone Bay Barramundi, and the O'Connor Angus Hanger MBS2+ Rendang, which was intensely flavourful and rich.
The drinks menu is just as impressive, showcasing a range of wines including several vegan options, beer, and cocktails.Â
Jamu has one of the best bottomless brunches in Richmond! Usually bottomless brunches either do drinks or good well but Jamu has the best of both worlds. The bao, dumplings and ribs were delicious (and you could re order more through out the sitting included in the price) and our drinks were topped up as soon as they were finished. The staff are great. Each sitting is 2 hours which offers excellent value for only $58 pp
Excellent feed me menu. We had a fantastic range of dishes featuring a variety of proteins and vegetables. The stand out dishes included the kingfish ceviche, crispy eggplant, rendang steak, half chook and roast pumpkin. For dessert we had the milk donuts with a deliciously balanced orange mousse.
Delish meal here for dinner on a Saturday night! Can recommend the steak (đ€€) and the interesting twist on their eggplant and oyster dishes! Also perfect for a big group get together as plenty of space to spread out with friendly service! đđ»
This asian fusion restaurant is located in a quiet residential street in Richmond. It's nice and modern with a really cool vibe. We had the $49 bottomless brunch which gives you a selection of unlimited drinks, including mimosas, pimms, beer and aperol spritz, as well as a selection of food. As part of the deal, we had a serve of chicken wings, dumplings, bao buns, and lotus chips with dip. You have a two hour window when you book. The food and service was excellent, I recommend the lotus chips and chicken wings - they were delicious, but unfortunately we weren't able to reorder those two dishes as part of the deal. I'd definitely come back.
Absolutely fantastic place⊠Iâm not one for any type of fusion food, but Jamu is one of the only place that does it well. Flavors and textures are balanced and very well created. Theyâve kept a great south East Asian (Malaysian) flavor profile while modernizing it and adding a mixture of western cooking.
Would highly recommend the feed me menu. Staff are absolutely helpful and friendly, and the chefs in the kitchen are brilliant. Highly recommend this place.
I enjoyed JAMU. We went on a Sunday afternoon and were the only ones there which suited me because they kept our drinks full the entire seating and we could be as loud as we wanted without annoying others!
The food pretty good, portion sizes were great and I was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit of a shame however, as there was a lot of food that wasnât eaten, the pulled pork buns, which is just a lot of food wastage!
The staff were all quite nice and attentive. I could imagine that JAMU would be a lot of fun on a Sunday afternoon as a âpresâ venue.
I would definitely consider going back, maybe on a day with a few more people in the venue just to see what it is like.

Surprising flavour profile with great asian tweaks. The octopus is excellent and mango ceviche is refreshing. Chicken ribs is homely in a great way. Donut martini is yummy.
Update: we came back and love it even more! The cheeseburger springroll is a bite of surprise yet familiar flavour. Chicken satay is juicy with the right amount of char. The noodle is silky and incredibly homely! The beef is meltingly soft and perfectly punctuated with charred green. The sambal octopus is soft and punchy at the same time. Pandan cocktail is tasty! The upcoming menu is superbly refreshing!
Update: the new menu is amazing! Beef tartare is exciting with great flavours!
Such a great dining experience at Jamu with my hubby! It's a hidden gem in Richmond, food was fantastic, staff especially Ruthie and the other lady tonight was super friendly. Definately will recommend to friends and family!
Came here for dinner with friends and had the feed me menu. We booked indoors, but didnât realise half the tables are high tables with stools - wish we had real chairs, or at least stools with back rests. No option to distinguish when booking, my partner said. Live music was a lovely surprise. Kingfish crackers, satay chicken, and the dessert were delicious. The fish cakes were a bit bland and soggy. So not a perfect feed me menu, but decent and will leave you full. Will come back for the bottomless brunch sometime.
Before Covid, on business trip, came here at midnight for dessert and because the local dessert shops had either closed or well full. Honestly had a banger of a meal!! Made use of their authentic skills and got a list of awesome menus for some big group.
Just some of the delicious food at Jamu from their Lunar New Year Menu, featuring dishes such as lobster bao, money bag dumplings with quail egg, truffle mushroom spring roll and much more. Flavours are on point, and execution is mostly faultless. If this is an indication of their other dishes, then it's definitely worth coming back for more. Absolutely in love with the cocktails too, how could I say no to Milo Martini?
We were pleasantly surprised of how fantastic the food and service was. The servings were large and the flavours are en pointe. The highlight of our dinner was the pork hock and the pandan cocktail. Will be back to try other dishes on the menu.
