A quaint little Japanese spot in Richmond. We tried the rice bowls and it was delicious, tasty and fresh with good portions. We liked the high ceiling ambiance and spaciousness, however it looked a little under staffed when we were there. Overall, it’s really great value, will be back to try more! 🙏
We discovered Deko Boko via Zomato Gold. Since then we’ve been frequenting this cafe almost every week. This place is gold! Delicious and great value for money food. Friendly staff and quick service whenever we dined there around 6pm.
We visited Deko Boko for lunch on a Saturday. The small cafe/restaurant has a very authentic and relaxed ambience with Japanese staff. We ordered the regular chicken Katsu curry ($12.80) and the large salmon poke bowl ($10.80). The curry was incredible and one of the best I’ve had in Melbourne. The poke bowl was also very good, but nothing too different. Both came with complimentary miso soup. Would definitely come back for a beer during happy hour (5pm-7pm) as they have an impressive drinks menu. Would also love to try their tiramisu next time!
This is a very good restaurant.
Good food, good service, good price.
Highly recommended for Japanese food lovers.
My friend and I ordered a drink each, the takoyaki as a starter and I got the vegetarian curry whilst he got the salmon poke bowl. Trust me when i say, this place is SO good! We were in the area for other reasons and decided to try this place as it had a high rating. I honestly give it 5 out of 5. I love my Jap curry and have been on the hunt to find Melbourne's best. I think I may have found the best... Everything was so fresh, the matcha drinks were yummy and also offered some unusual flavours that sounded awesome to try AND the girl that served us was so friendly. I would honestly drive to Richmond again just to eat here! Love, love, love!! I definitely recommend the curry!
Small cozy Japanese restaurant serving Japas style food and also bigger meals like curries and rice dishes. Curries are great and of generous portion. Service also very friendly and great. The dessert looks awesome but didn't get to try as we were so full from the curry.
Friendly service. Superb food. Delicious matcha souffle .
Excellent quality that stands out when eating the salmon sashimi. Very good prices. Fried chicken on point. Will return.
Visited Deko Boko twice within a week. You definitely have to try the chicken karage don and the Japanese curry. Portion was quite generous and price is affordable. The matcha soufflé was not as good as I expected but I would definitely be back to try the other cakes. Overall extremely pleased with the food!!

What an unassuming gem! We popped in for some rainy Friday night Japanese. This place is great value - all of this food plus a yuzu soda and iced matcha latte was $30. The iced latte was sweet without overpowering the traditional matcha flavour. It was great to be able to choose the spice level of the katsu curry, and my poke salmon don had so much flavour and variety with a little bit of spice too. Their desserts look fantastic and we’ll be back for more!

A cosy japanese place serving donburi and curry on rice. The food are good, definitely a decent place for lunch. I ordered spicy level 4 out of 5 and I could not really feel the spiciness but it was good anyway. Not so fond of the fact that they put capsicum, zucchini, cauli et all on the chicken namban but ok. They also offer a range of matcha drinks.
If you grew up eating Japanese curry made from those convenient curry roux cubes, you'll be in for a treat. The curry here is homemade and you can taste it! Generous portions and you'll leave with a taste of nostalgia, feeling warm and full. The 2-in-1 deal of getting half donburi and half curry is an absolute steal, perfect for the indecisive eater who wants to try more than one menu item.
I like that the spice level is customisable, so it can cater to everyone's tastes. (Note that Japanese curries are mild in general. Two of us ordered the '3' level but it was not spicy at all. Just the perfect amount of 'heat' that doesn't steal away from tasting the flavour of the curry itself, unlike some foods where the excessiveness spiciness ends up detracting away from the dish itself!).
The soy matcha latte was thick and creamy. Despite ordering no-sugar, the natural sweetness of soy milk lended itself beautifully to the earthiness of the matcha, so the drink itself was not bitter at all.
We were too full to try dessert, but there is also an in-house pastry chef making delightful Japanese-style cheesecake and other sweets. You can watch them at work behind a glass screen as you eat!
My only qualm is that this place isn't open on weekends, so it's hard to take friends/family here during the working week! But we will definitely be back.
Ordered chicken katsu curry and chicken teriyaki karaage with miso soup in half and half. Great taste
The soy matcha latte is very good. Recommended. The matcha soufflé cake is soft and fluffy. Fully of matcha flavor yet not too sweet. We also had salmon don and 4 pcs kaarage for dinner. Overall, very good experience with Japanese hospitality and value for money meals.

Nice place on Bridge Rd to get your rice fix. They specialize in Curry or Don buri rice bowls, no sushi here. 2 proteins to choose from, either chicken or salmon, 3 if you include the Tofu. You can select how spicy you prefer your curry, we selected the medium spicy but could of gone up a level, flavour was full and hearty. We also ordered the chicken Nam ban, which was also very good. There also offer cakes that look very good which we'll try next time. There is outdoor seating available.
The Fresh salmon Don and Gyu beef Don were amazing. Very fresh and generous portions. Great prices. Both meals were $10.80 each. Will definitely go back to try the other dons on the menu.
Usually come here for their epic gyozas, but decided to give their poke bowl a shot. Did mot disappoint, super fresh and filling. Always love having their matcha apple juice. Love this cute Japanese cafe
