Review Harlow - Richmond

Really cool place with 3 different levels, bar, beer garden and rooftop. The rooftop is amazing when it's a nice day, the food is delicious with some amazing plates and the services was quick and they were lovely when we wanted a better spot. Recommended 🍻🍻🍻

it’s seem like a popular pub around Richmond, saw some other working came to here for lunch , and people gathering here. they do the online order, and the services were pretty quick too. great. the chicken schnitzel were huge!! so yum~ the guacamole were smooth. can’t wait to come back when the summer officially hit~ gonna enjoy the rooftop!!

Disappointed in the halloumi was cold and very squeaky. Bao Buns were yummy but I wouldn't call the spicy sauce sticky is was very thin and not thick like you expect of a sticky sauce. This place is good if you don't want staff to be interacting with you as you order your drinks at the bar and you order food on the app. I did love the dog mural on the upstairs beer garden.

SOPHIE - you absolute legend! She went above and beyond with service and kindness to make sure the crew got everything they wanted. We had bottomless brunch for a hens and the drinks flowed non stop the food was good and generous, the views were incredible and the vibes immaculate. Thanks so much to Sophie 💜🦋

Enjoyed the vibe, but the Parma was decent, the salad on the side was better than the side at most places, generous with the chips. I know this place is more popular with trivia and drinks, which wasn’t the reason why we attended on this occasion.

Great to go on a Thursday when the burgers where nearly half price! Great vegetarian option, super tasty and big. Only disappointment was many of the cocktails were sold out and only one was on special. The outdoor rooftop had adequate heating and a lovely view of the city sky line.

Who doesn't love a bottomless brunch?! Even better with bottomless cocktails, that is what my friend and I had recently. We sat on the rooftop on a sunny day and it was just lovely. Great views all round and a nice cosy seating area. Service was on point as soon as we arrived, the menu was really good with different options to choose from. We had the Chicken Snitty, Raw tuna power bowl, cured salmon flatbread and lobster & prawn mornay roll. Hands down the best schnitzel I have had, it was so creative and delicious. The cocktails were tasty too, thanks for having us we had a great time!

Sunday catch up for my birthday. Such a nice set up and nice place to hang out but the staff are beyond average. You order through the QR code and 2 people received there drinks and we waited a good 30 minutes before we went to the bar to see why it took so long and we were informed that they never received the order which would have been fine but the staff member was so rude and unapologetic. The food is also nice and what you would expect from a bar/pub but 2 people on our table were still eating and staff came and took the plate from my understanding they would usually ask.

Love a bit of a hide & seek? These guys ask for your order then leave your drinks 10ft down the bar. Great Game

I was invited as a guest at Harlow, an old pub with a modern take on decor and dining. Along with two of my young adult children, who are themselves, excellent reviewers, we came for the Bottomless BBQ lunch. None of us had eaten breakfast but by the time we left, we were satiated with a delicious selection of food. Our host was Ben Lougoon who proves to be an energetic and all-round ideal manager for Harlow. His customer service and attention to detail ensures everyone's needs are attended to. Along with his staff who are well trained in hospitality, I couldn't fault how we were looked after.<br/>From the exterior, Harlow appears like many of the old pubs within the area but its had an upgrade that hits home with locals and visitors from afar. Cleverly keeping the front bar as authentic as possible, the changes start as you move towards the rear where it opens out to a several large areas that can accommodate 100's of people in different spaces. There is the terrace, the outdoor beer garden area that is set over two levels. The beer garden is cleverly covered with a retractable roof, means its an 'all year round' space for patrons and on a sunny November day, proved to be 'the' place to be. There is also a rooftop function space that has some interesting plans coming up, as well as a private area at the basement of the pub (perfect for small corporate or networking groups with a capacity of around 20) and then a funky underground bar area that apparently is popular for the late night visitors. As we left, we were also shown the upstairs private function space with its own bar and can seat 60 or standing room for 160. With views of Church Street and at night, the lights of Melbourne, it would be a nice spot to book out for say, a Christmas Party, reception, or general gathering of friends/colleagues.<br/>Now let's get to the food. We sat outside in the beer garden area that has comfortable benches scattered with cushions and warm, modern timber tables.<br/>We shared drinks of wine, cider and lemon, lime & bitters (someone has to drive). On each table are the mandatory items of sauce, napkins, cutlery but also a QR code which if you scan your phone's camera across, you'll see the menu on your phone - pictures are worth a 1,000 words and they certainly had us ready for a culinary treat.<br/>The first tray to arrive was a spread of the most delicious potato salad, curried cauliflower with raisins (nice touch), coleslaw and macaroni cheese along with large pickles and buttered bread. Ahhh, it felt like being at Gran's house.<br/>The next tray had 'drunken lamb ribs' which were my favourite but my kids found the 'pork butts with a dirty hippy coffee rub' the best. But let's not stop there. The tray was brimming with smoked cheese kranskys, beer brined chicken wings, more pickles and VB drenched onions and Harlow hot sauce.<br/>The portion size of each was generous and frankly, we only just made it through everything with our bellies bursting by the end of the meal. It took 90 minutes but we got there in the end. For $59 with bottomless meats and side salads plus a great selection of wine, beer and spritz - it's great value for money. Bonus - there is also a DJ to take the atmosphere to the next level.<br/>There are weekly specials available and I'd suggest you go to the Harlow website to check out what's on and what's coming up.<br/>I would highly recommend Harlow for anyone who is looking for a venue, for a gathering, to catch up with friends after work, to watch a game on the large TV screen, shoot some pool with mates or generally, just hang out. The food is brilliant and the service is second-to-none. <br/>Well done Team Harlow.<br/>Notes: There is seating on Church Street if you want to sit out the front. Wheelchair accessible including a lift to all floors. Kid friendly. Dietaries are catered for - just let the waiting staff know and they'll do their best. Billiard table and large flat screen TV in bar. Parking can be challenging just because it's Richmond but persevere and you'll find something - or catch a tram which runs out the front or Richmond station is only a short distance away.

Bottomless _ BBQ _ Brunch ... enough said! That got me hahahaha <br/><br/><br/><br/><br/>Harlow Hotel in Church Street, Richmond has got a bottomless BBQ lunch, and this was my first bottomless brunch so I have been seriously missing out! But not anymore lol.<br/><br/>I can't comment on the service as I was invited but the manager was really genuinely enthusiastically asking each table about their personal experience as this is new to the Harlow. <br/><br/>But it was amazing! Starting w a craft Hawthorn beer each we then eagerly waited for our food.<br/><br/>The food was excellent, and we enjoyed BBQ'd meats, salads and sides. <br/><br/>Let me whet your appetite with some highlights.<br/><br/>The drunken lamb ribs were delicious, and they were BIG! The bourbon BBQ pulled meat was delicious, gosh I could have eaten this all day. <br/><br/>But the beer brined chicken wings were really good, w a crispy skin and lots of meat surprisingly.<br/><br/>I tried pork butts for the first time too which were good hahaha. <br/><br/>I devoured grannies potato salad, which had mustard, sour cream and crispy onions. OMGosh yes this was really good. <br/><br/>Yes the mac n cheese was a very welcomed addition and thats was some of the best I've had!! Perfect. <br/><br/>The cauliflower salad of raisins, mayo, pineapple hot sauce and herbs was another winner. <br/><br/>Another surprise for me was the white bread, soooo fresh w lashings of butter was plain but it worked soooo well!!<br/><br/>The VB soaked onions ... its a pub, were also a winner. I must say, the quality of the food was outstanding!<br/><br/>And the drinks great, especially when I had an Aperol Spritzer or ... hahahaha <br/><br/>Whoever thought of a bottomless BBQ brunch is an absolute champion. This place is a must visit! You've gotta try this.

I am so incredibly disappointed in this entire event. Harlow advertises that there is an impressive bottomless brunch for $59 on their normal weekends.<br/>But for $55 on Cup Day we had 3 small snacks each and selected wines and 1 beer.... safe to say we were all upset that we had paid this amount for this small of food. Not to mention due to the lack of food the consumption of alcohol were stronger than they should have been. <br/>Members of the group continued to drink alcohol as if there was going to be more food to arrive - later to find out that there wasn’t. Therefore the side effects of the alcohol were stronger than expected and members of our group had to be taken care of as the alcohol to food ratio was honestly irresponsible of the venue.

Great venue... but food was yuck!!!! Ordered fish and chips and the fish was disgusting!!! Full of bones, horrible tasting! Definitely won’t eat here again. But will drink!

Harlow is the old Great Britain Hotel which now has a facelift and a serious makeover. <br/><br/>This pub is slick, with a great outdoor area and a number of different areas in which to chillax. <br/><br/>The beers are mainly commercial with White Rabbit Dark Ale thankfully. Lol<br/><br/>The gin was Four Pillars, which was great and the service, well the bartenders were distracted and not very attentive.<br/><br/>I was going to order some more drinks but it was all too hard really when I couldn't get the bartenders attention.<br/><br/>Overall this place is a major step up from the Great Britain with its light interior and new areas. <br/><br/>But for some reason the blokes room was downstairs. Not sure why.

Delicious! I came here for a work outing and we ordered a whole heap of smaller dishes to share. Such a good idea as each dish had enough for 4-5 people to each try some and there were enough varied dishes that everyone got something they liked. They have the usual suspects, but also some interesting and bold favours that got us talking (and enjoying). Most notable was the dipping sauce for the chips (deviled keens mayo). This was a clear fave with everyone. peaches with the halloumi is also another combo that was striking contrast but that fits together so well. The cheeseburger empanadas tasted just like cheeseburgers, the HFC and the eggplant were also all highly rated. <br/>The venue itself is spacious and open and will likely be a winner come summer with its open courtyard and acceptance of dogs. <br/>I really rate this place and look forward to coming back.

We stopped here for a drink and some nibbles and were blown away by the food.  We ordered the Haloumi and peaches, spicy chicken wings and cheese burger empilatas, I thought everything was amazing!  The spicy and sour chicken was my favourite, great flavours and good portion.  The haloumi and peaches with hazelnuts was really good too, not the sort of pub grub you'd ever expect.  I would love to come back for dinner one day soon.

3.5<br/>My wife and I were in two minds about drinking at the Harlow. She loved the clean new spruced up venue while I reminisced the fun times I had former named Great Britain establishment. It was very nice inside in comparison and the outside beer garden was doing a roaring trade... they even had a Friday night sausage sizzle to welcome in the long weekend. I enjoyed a pint of Kosciuszko while KD tried a orange infused Chandon on ice. We were patched and this was a welcome spot for a refreshing ale. Overall a tidy wee pub.

We booked an area in Harlow for a birthday. The food was absolutely delicious - especially the haloumi and the Harlow fried chicken! We also tried the chips and dips with pita, which didn’t disappoint. Lovely, cool ambience in the basement bar, especially on a hot day. It does get quite loud, so just keep that in mind. Otherwise, loved it!

Good spot for pub style food and casual afternoon drinks. In terms of food the chips with curry mayo were a winner. Also tried the fried chicken (very spicy), the halloumi with peaches, the prawn tacos and the steak sandwich. Prawn tacos were delicious but very small bite size portions. Would probably give the steak sandwich a miss. Bread to filling ratio was a bit unbalanced.

wow, yet another inner-eastern pub lost to over gentrification. melbourne will be a very different place if we continue to turn these iconic establishments into sanitised, vapid and empty shells.
