Food and service couldn't have been better. The management and staff were unbelievably friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere and fun place to go to. 1st time my wife and I have been but we've certainly be back. Just discovered a new favourite place.
Yummy made to order food. Good service and nice atmosphere. My family fav place for dumplings. Soy steamed fish is a must try

Great ambience, delicious food - incredible dinner!
⭐️ I first found this restaurant thanks to the Entertainment Book. This offers a 25% discount on menu items. I am so in love with this place!
📍 Located on one of the main streets in St Kilda, there’s a lot of parking options but a bit of a rare find for free parking.
👥 The staff are so friendly. The dishes were all served very quickly.... BUT not too quickly! I find that at some of these styled restaurants, if it comes out too fast.. I question it a bit. This was the perfect timing, so I knew it was fresh and cooked for us.
🍽 The food quality is fantastic and absolutely full of flavour. Everything was absolutely delicious and I just could not stop eating.. even when I was full.
💚 Delicious flavoursome food
💚 Great ambience and intimate lighting within the restaurant
💚 Offers a bar, and seating at the bar
💚 Friendly staff
💚 Prices are very fair for what you receive
Great service, beer on tap, handmade dumplings, and modern surroundings overlooking Albert Park. And $39 endless yum cha on weekends - can’t go wrong!
Did I mention beer?
Probably the best eye fillet I’ve ever had, so tender! Adding the Guangzhou honey pepper sauce makes it special and a creative way of cooking eye fillet. Other dishes, such as pork belly and beef, are too salty to us. The wagyu baos are ok, I like the outside more than the inside meat, coz a bit oily to me. But overall, I really like Mahjong, shall come over again on a Friday night!
I came here for the celebration of Mahjong's 10th birthday and had such an amazing time , it truly was a testament to hard work paying off as the owner (Max) was telling us in his speech that it was not an easy journey to get to where he was today. It was also wonderful to see so many loyal customers who I would believe have now become friends after continually returning to Mahjong for a decade.
The dumplings that were served that night were all juicy succulent and plump, my favorite behind the signature won ton in chili oil. The suckling pig brought out that night was also a highlight of my night, I literally ate so much that thinking about it brings me great shame.
Thankyou Mahjong for having me a part of such a special moment and I cannot wait to come back and do the all you can eat menu some day
Crab and prawn dumpling was lovely but the chilli beef was mehhhh. Flavour was great but the meat was chewy and unpleasant... could have been amazing if only the meat was soft and tender. Service was decent but i didn't appreciate it when the waitress simply dumped the dumplings on the table and waa off beforw i could ask for soy sauce and chilli. Also orderd the eye fillet which was quite nice and fried ice cream for dessert which was yummy.
Mahjong was a highly enjoyable restaurant to enjoy a birthday at, as the staff were kind and the pricing for the quality and quantity of food was magnificent! Highly recommend the beef in black bean sauce and the peaking duck pancakes! The only negative was how long the food took to serve! But a place I will defiantly be visiting again soon!
Can’t get better Chinese food in Melbourne,
The south gippsland pork is amazing .
Definitely come back and highly recommend.
Best fried rice ever.
Friday night had CBF cooking so skipped down the road to Mahjong for some fried rice. I have walked past squillions of times but never had the urge to go in - this is due to not being a massive Chinese cuisine eater.
My thoughts, firstly the restaurants is nice - lovely decor. The staff were attentive and very nice. My fried rice was nice however the size for the price = not value for $$$. Judging by the other reviews I am not the only one to have this opinion. Also, from the other reviews, It seems the yum cha is the way to go here.
Fancier than your average dumpling house but not quite fine dining Mahjong remains my number 1 dumpling restaurant in st kilda. Come here several times over last two years and quality of food and consistency of service has remained the same. Lau's may be be better food but at all things considered this still comes out on top.
Really nice atmosphere for dining with friends and family! Great food and drink! Really like the graffiti on wall! Nice and friendly staff! my favourite is the juicy pork dumplings and the red hand prawn dumplings! People can even hold events at the back! Nice place! Must visit!
We were a group of 10 people and the staff were great, very attentive from the moment we got in there until we left. The food is always amazing when I’ve eaten here so was glad to share the experience with some of my friends who hadn’t been here before. 100% recommend!

We chose this place just randomly, as we walked by. Food was delicious! It's on the pricey side, but we didn't mind.
Food came and everything looked great! We ordered rice, pork belly, some chicken dish, duck and greens.
The waiter recommended the beers and he also recommended the popular dishes, so that was nice.
Very hip Chinese restaurant, with a cool bar and a nice cocktail selection. They do $39 pp all-you-can-eat yum cha on Tuesdays! Will have to try it next time. We had the crab and prawn dumplings, Dan Dan noodles, Kung fu chicken and steamed Chinese broccoli (although they may have given us Asian greens instead). Some items were slightly pricey, so I would probably recommend getting the unlimited "yum cha" next time... But we did not regret having the delicious fried ice cream (they even split one portion into 3 minis for us because we were sharing)! Great service and fab experience!
Beautiful interior, beautiful friendly staff and amazing food. As a coeliac there wasn't a huge variety for me however they DID have gluten free soy sauce which made up for everything.. that and the chilli sauce omg
Probably the best and freshest yum cha in Melbourne. Lost a star for not bringing the desserts even after asking three time, eventually we gave up. Frequent and generously delivered, staff all lovely even on a very busy day. Good options for gluten free although we had to ask a few times. Many different dumpling options, calamari and prawn toast were super fresh and fantastic. All in all delicious and can’t wait to come back.
Absolutely amazing!!! I would 100% recommend. Came for dinner because there was a bit of a wait at Milk the Cow down the road. So glad we did. The place was practically empty; really not sure why, as the food was superb. Pork buns and dumplings were delicious and food came out pretty quickly.
The waiters were very attentive. The house red/Mahjong shiraz also very nice. The clear winner, however, was the duck. Succulent, crispy skin, amazing flavours. We ordered a second because it was so amazing. And I don't eat duck.
Next time I'm in the area I am definitely calling in.
