Wow! I’ve been waiting a long time for a place like this to be in St Kilda but then I don’t get to visit as long as I’d like.
Ten of us came here after a workshop at Tolarno’s to celebrate the end of Day 1. The drinks flowed and the music played. What a great atmosphere. Staff were lovely and helpful. Drinks at reasonable prices.
Next time I look forward to a meal.
Well done owners.
Nice cosy place with good sitting space. I had beer, chips and chicken tenders. Quantity of chips is really good and also the beer serving. Chicken was ok. Music being played is really nice and you will find pool table too.
This place has a good range of beers on the tap. The food is good! Do try their southern fried chicken tenders, they’re yumm! but I am not a big fan of their wings, didn’t like it much.
Also, they have some badass taxidermy up on display!
Food 3.5/5
Service 4/5
Ambience 4/5
Value for money 4/5
Was my new favourite local until I found Misery Guts across the road. The beer selection is beyond compare. You need to visit just for that and the amazing array of beer cans from history that line the walls. Nice way to pass a couple of hours. Beer paddle worthwhile given the huge selection of beers. If you are lucky you might spot a Masterchef 😀
$2 oysters and $8 beers what could possibly go wrong? Pleasant Sunday afternoon at happy hour. Excellent range of craft beers, good atmosphere. The bartenders were friendly and entertainment. They even had mulled cider for a cold winter evening. So much better than what used to be there. I can’t wait to try the food.
Good corner bar with more space than you would think with a large outside area. The fit out is well-thought out, with a winter cabin in the wilderness sort of vibe. Which leaves it somewhat confusing when the food menu is New York deli.
There can be a great vibe in there most times, although would like to see more authenticity with the taps in terms of craft beer. I realise a lot of the clientele are backpackers, but not really true to the style of a craft beer bar if there is Carlton, Monteith's and Coopers on tap next to the likes of Mountain Goat, Brooklyn and Stone.
With that said, still a good place to hang out with mates and talk shop.
Always forever changing craft beers on tap which is great!, New menu serving decent food, big big big screen for any sporting or social event.
Seating outside which is great in the sun with a cocktail.
Love the place, will come back, new local!
Freddie's is my dirty hangover secret! Look obviously their food isn't for everyone but when I'm in need, I can't go past their hot dogs, and whenever I'm there for a drink the staff are lovely and attentive. A great local pub that's unpretentious & suitable for a group of tradies post work or classy ladies post dinner.
Pros:
Fantastic beer selection
Very decent food
Excellent live music nights
Nice Cocktails
Lots off majestic dead animals on the wall
Cons:
Place maybe tries a little too hard and still missing a some character but hopefully that will come.
I frequented the George Wine Room for many year but hadn't been in the area for a while. Friends said to meet at Freddie Wimpoles. I got a bit lost until the realisation came over me that the George was no longer. My jaw was dragging on the ground as I walked in. It was like I was in a seedy American road house and the people nearby banging their hands on the table and singing 'we will rock you" really loudy kind of added to that feeling.
The food was pretty tasty, good fried chicken is hard to find and this was really good.
The decor isn't to my liking but people were enjoying themselves and that's good.
Vale George Wine Room.
Best bar in town… best bar on earth??? This local watering hole is close to my heart. Staff are some of the most top notch people - so friendly and accommodating while still swiftly managing anyone who might be causing a problem/drama. Honestly staff are just bosses and I love them. Lots of outdoor seating, pool table inside, great beers on tap and just all round VIBES. Also trivia on Tuesdays is good. Oh and you can bring your dog inside!
What a great little establishment, basically a room in the corner of the building but with a huge atmosphere of fun and frivolity. We visited late on a Saturday night after a concert. The security were very welcoming and polite. The patrons were rowdy and vocal but all in good fun as they sang along with the musician playing live.
For people out of town, this was and is a great place to visit.
Came here after a bit of a walk. A very good selection of beers and spirits. The bar is well equipped to just mellow out with a couple of pints. Thanks guys.
Such a great vibe at this bar with an outstanding beer selection. Very friendly and inclusive staff. Always have a great time coming here!
The best bar I have been to; the physical ambience is completely at another level.
Loved this bar. Great atmosphere, cosy and perfect for a catch up with friends. Had the hot cider and mulled wine, both delicious!! Great selection of beers very interesting flavours! Will definitely be back
Been living in St Kilda for 8 weeks now and this my favorite bar. Always friendly, good choice of beer and relaxed atmosphere.
