Pro: Barramundi Fish was excellent. View is amazing. Great vibe. Casual vibe.
Con: The chicken schnitzel was horrible, gravy made everything soggy, chicken piece was too thin and chewy.
We could eat like this every day for the rest of our lives! Honestly theres nothing better than sharing a few bottles of wine and lots of nibbles with friends and family. Loved the variety of meats, cheeses, fruit. A very good grazing board indeed. Doesn’t hurt that there are pretty views too.

Sitting upstairs gazing out over the water of Darling Harbour, sipping a drink and eating tasty food - sounds tough doesn’t it! Well on our visit to Helm Bar this described our situation perfectly. It’s raised position provides great views and it’s very easy to see why this place is so popular.
This place serves the best seafood chowder in the city!!! Been looking for a good seafood chowder ever since, and Helm Bar serves the best one yet! Service is generally at a good pace even though it can get crowded. Staff are approachable and the ambiance is very chill. Enjoyed their buffalo flavoured wings and lemon lime bitters too!
A great place for a sunday lunch date with my wife. Beautifyl harbour side view from the bar. Had lice music to go with glass of wine, coudnt ask for anything better. For lunch we tried the seafood basket, arancini nand grilled fosh of the day with salads. Portions were good and catch was fresh.

The scotch fillet steak is outstanding. Cooked to perfection. Melts in the mouth. House made mushroom sauce and comes with a huge bowl of golden chips!!!
After a recent revamp, Helm Bar has seriously lifted its game! It’s shed its dingy nightclub days, had a total do-over and come out the other side as a seriously cool spot for after work drinks, a waterside dinner or a great Sunday sesh.
The interiors are slick and nautical, the service is on point, and the menu is packed with killer cocktails and delicious food.
Went on a Thursday night for dinner and drinks with a friend, and it was buzzing with the after work crowd.
The cocktail list was a dream for me - laden with passion fruit and lychee concoctions, pina coladas and the on fleek frose. Perfect for a summer sip, and a sneaky insta with water views.
The food was surprisingly a little bit fancy! We started with a terrific tapas board, and some salt and pepper calamari with the most flavour punching sauce.
Then for mains I had the most perfectly cooked eye fillet steak, and my friend had a generous bowl of gnocchi.
We stayed for 3 hours, and was such an enjoyable night downing cocktails whilst watching the sunset. Can’t wait to come back!
Helm Bar is a popular bistro and bar located in the heart of Darling Harbour, the venue has been operating in the Sydney dining scene since 2002 and continues to be a busy venue most days of the week. The venue has great elevated views of the harbour, a vibrant atmosphere and a large selection of eats and drinks available.
You'll have a reasonably cheap harbourside lunch if you stay with the daily specials - for around $14, fish & chips or pizza or schnitzel etc, plus a glass wine special for $6. Otherwise the mains are all over $20, tried a lot of them with a big group & most are very ordinary. You're here for the view, remember.
If there's two of you - or one very hungry - the tapas plate for $21 is not only the best value, it's huge, but actually quite good. Chorizo was so so but nice arancini, proscuitto, olives, & delicious grilled green thin sweet peppers. Would definitely return & order just this again!
We came to helm bar for some farewell drinks, though I wasn't too sure of what to expect here considering the number of mixed reviews I had received before. We ordered drinks and food here, and though I thought the service was a bit slow to start with, they were patient (considering we had such a big order!) and friendly too. The pizza here isn't too big, and is quite tasty. I love that they weren't stingy with the toppings! We enjoyed their sweet potato fries, though I didn't like the thing fries they served (they were far too oily for my liking). The calamari was crunchy and tender, and well cooked, so no complaints there. The staff was friendly throughout the night, and returned to clear anything we were done with at regular intervals so we didn't end up piling things up. Helm is a nice place for Friday drinks and bar food, or maybe even a footy screening with your mates :)
