Best bar & staff in Sydney. Every time I’ve been there the drinks are always made to perfection and always consistently good. All of the staff are friendly and very professional. Highly, highly recommend this well oiled machine. Feel like you are in an underground cool Manhattan bar.
Best bar i have been to in my life!!! Music on point, drinks on point, service on point!!
Very authentic place to have drinks. Can get very loud but isnt that the point?
This is one chilled out place to hang out. It's got a very deceptive facade making it easy to pass by this place not knowing that it's a bar. For the purpose of maintaining this mystery, I'm not going to reveal anything. You get really cool cocktails and the bartenders are the most helpful. Music is great, albeit a bit loud. The only reason to give a 4-star rating to this place is that there are no food items on the menu, you can get food from out though. I guess it adds to the uniqueness of this place.
What a secret treasure! I love finding places like Earl’s, having the facade of an old butcher is so cool and has tricked so many passers by. It’s by far my favourite place to go for a drink whether it be with friends or out on a date.
The moody candle lit bar has a huge range of alcohol to choose from and would certainly have your drink of choice, whatever that may be, the bar tenders are also very well educated in all things drinkable and are very able to make anything you request.
Sitting back with a drink, company and a great list of easy listening tunes playing in the background you’re bound to have a good time.
The only downside is that it is becoming rather busy on the weekends and as a result can get rather noisy...I guess a great joint like this is bound to be popular. I tend to go during the week while it’s quieter and less crowded. Overall though, a top notch place!
This is such a fun and chilled place to grab a quick drink if your out nearby at a local gig. If you've read reviews then you will also know it fronts as a butcher shop 😂The staff are super friendly, the place is warm and cosy and the music doesn't overpower over conversation levels. I had their wild strawberry sour beer this time around and enjoyed it immensely, it's probably up there as one of my favourite beers 👍If your not really a beer person this is a great option.
Earl's is a hit and miss, but only due to crowds from the pure popularity. Often packed out on peak nights, you're likely to spend significant time on your feet waiting to nab a table from people who never leave, also forming some sort of queue in what seems to be an ever growing crowd.
Whilst becoming common in Melbourne, Earl's must truly must be atleast Newtown's best example of it's own speakeasy. Despite it being open now for a number of years, the deceiving butcher shop frontage still manages to surprise people. Make you're way back on a quieter night, to appreciate the sheer skill and passion for their craft, by those behind the bar. A polar opposite to a Friday or Saturday night, they have time, and they excitedly discuss in detail even only one element of whichever poison you've picked.
I discovered this joint by accident when having dinner across the road! The outside is deceiving - no it's not an abandoned butcher shop. This is truely a great speakeasy bar. Fantastic atmosphere and delicious cocktails prepared by professionals. Totally recommend it !
The boys at Ear's mean business when it comes to cocktails. We had the opportunities to taste three of their cocktails and we fell in love with all three of them.
To get the party started Cadillac Spritz is a gin based refreshing cocktail with sherry, elderflower, citrus and prosecco. For gin and prosecco lover, this is music to my ears. The thyme garnish is incredibly aromatic and hit the senses before we even take a sip. The drink is refreshing and a perfect aperitif before the meal.
Take the alcohol strength up a notch we had Honky Tonk, a bourbon based cocktail with honey, ginger syrup, single malt mist, and citrus. The flavour of ginger comes through beautifully while the honey and citrus balance out the alcohol with a smooth velvety texture.
For something even stronger and masculine, Banana Maple Old Fashioned is a whisky based cocktail and may just tip you over. Banana flavour is quite subtle and the old fashioned certainly isn't for serious whisky lovers.
Not sure if it was the cocktails or the pre-Easter holiday excitement, we finished night perfectly content and satisfied. Those cocktails were seriously good and they certainly know what they are doing in Earl's.
What a cool little bar. Had my friends not known this was here, I would have never thought to walk in. Or even wonder what it could possibly be.
It was very dark and loud in there. The wait for drinks was not short. But it was still worth it. Great vibe, and I tried one of the nicest cocktails ever which I unfortunately cannot remember the name of now.
Give them a go, and leave when you start to lose your voice.
Great bar. Friendly staff and awesome cocktails. Plenty of nice restaurants nearby to grab dinner before heading in for a few. If only they were open later it would be the perfect late night hang out.
Tres cool. Kitsch atmosphere with funky cocktail waiters that really know their mixologing. Great place to have a good yarn with an old mate.
