Finally a bar that has an extensive list of cognac. My husband is a fan of cognac, so he was happy when we came here. As it was early for a Saturday night, the place was quiet which gave us the option to sit in the booth. Staff are friendly and they gave us some corn kernels with spice to snack on.

Great ambience and easy to find after reading reviews from other people on Zomato.
We will be back!

I can’t come to Sydney without visiting Ramblin Radcals. Good selection of whiskey and unique beer on tap. Plus, Mary’s burgers delivered! What more could anyone ask for?

A tiny hole in the wall, you would be forgiven for walking by it completely, Ramblin' Rascal is a great underground bar that is only accessible by walking down some dark and steep stairs.

When you walk in, your eyes have to adjust to the dim lighting and then you're on the hunt for a seat! There are booths, tables and chairs, and standing options available, but get in early because the place is pumping (especially around 6pm).

There is a great selection of wine, cocktails and beers that will suit everyone's tastes. The staff are friendly, recommend you their favourites and remember your order when you go back to the bar (which is great after you've had a few).

The music can drown out the conversation at times, but when your Mary's order arrives, you don't mind the opportunity to have some music, as you pause the chat and hoe in.

Been there for weekend drinks with few mates. The interiors and the ambience was good. The waiting staff was very friendly. They don't serve any food within the place but you can order burgers from the joint next door which they bring it from across the road. The burgers were absolutely delicious. We had the chicken and the beef burgers.

Chill dive bar with friendly staff. A nice small bar with a grungy atmosphere, hidden below the rush of the city. Their menu was interesting, with a good range of unique cocktails and also a wider range of good craft beers at reasonable prices. I really loved the Mary's delivery service - burgers and fries from Mary's at Newtown delivered straight to the bar within 30 minutes. Great amount of seating, perfect for an easy night out with friends.

This one is a little different to the other places I have written about, being a bar. But its hidden nature was so intriguing I couldn’t help it. After a casual night out we ended up here despite how hard it is to find. The entrance to the bar is actually on Elizabeth street near the corner of Park st. To the street it is just a big industrial door, and once opened its just a dimly lit staircase down to what looks like back of house rooms. However behind that door lies a hidden gem of Sydney. The interior is only fitting for an underground door, consisting of rough brick walls and cosy leather booths, with incredibly dim mood lighting.

I have an ambitious goal to visit most of the top 100 Bars in Sydney selected by Timeout each year. Week after week, month after month, I gradually ticked a lot of them off my list over the last several years. Pretentious ones, down to earth ones, cheap cheerful ones, and overrated overpriced ones, you name it I have seen it all. But most recently i finally came across a bar that I could call it my favorite. There is no setting a cinnamon stick on fire kind of gimmick, there is no trying hard decorations, there is no deafening music or noises, you don't pay high $10+ for a glass of wine, the beers don't come in a tiny bottle for $10. All you get is six funny dudes rambling away at the bar and spread their cheerfulness to everyone else!

When you see the three skulls sign, you have found the entrance of Rambling rascal tavern. Even the bouncer was smiling and friendly, that rarely happens! After a few steps into the basement you will see some writing on the wall - don't be a d!ck! Yes that's the only rule to enter this magic space. The bar is dimly lit, you can either opt to sit at the bar and talk nothing in particular but have a good laugh with the extremely friendly bartenders or the booths looked very comfy and great for groups. There were three beers on top, we went for the middle one which was one $7. Finally there is a cool secret underground small bar that one can stay all night without breaking the bank! You can even get $6 beer in a tin if you are on a budget. I went straight to cocktail. They are around $17. We were given free bar snacks instantly. I tried a glass of semllion too, it was crispy and fruity at only $10! Oh guess what they also serve Mary's burgers and have it delivered from across the road for $12. Every time when the burgers arrived they rang the bell! Haha...

What impressed me the most about this bar was the six dudes serving at the bar. It didn't feel like drinking at a commercial establishment, but more like at a large share house they lived in. The ambience was so laid back, chilled, they talked and waved at everyone coming in and out, they talked to us about their holidays in Bali, the T-shirt they were wearing, I never saw anyone embrace a bartender job so warmly and enthusiastically like those six dudes. They don't just pull a drink for you, collect your money, and walk away, they ramble with you all night!

Good little whiskey bar tucked away downstairs from the street. Prices standard for City. Good vibe about the place. Definitely worth going to.

The best thing about this place is the amazing atmosphere - it's like stepping into a speakeasy, through that unassuming door, and then you emerge into this great space with awesome music, great service, and a good selection of drinks! Highly recommended!

Yes it's the black door. Easy to miss when there's no queue outside. Great place for drinks. The Mary's burgers are an added bonus.

Decent spot with $8 Hennessy specials on Saturdays. The door is a bit easy to miss!

Small basement bar with good music. Really good vibe and the staff make good cocktails. The music is a bit loud for conversation. The entrance is a bit hidden - you need to go down the stairs from the small dodgy door behind the convenience store.

Funky discreet bar with a cool vibe and equally as cool cocktails. When I went on a Saturday night there was still enough room to sit, but the music was pretty loud and probably not the best for chatting… unless you want an excuse to get closer haha

A rare REAL bar. Feels like a house party. Plenty of space to get intimate or social at the bar. Good for a small group in a booth seat. Live music from 9pm. The bar crew are rad.

Hidden basement bar with an unexpecting entrance opposite Hyde Park. Nice place to meet an old friend, have an whisky. The Simpsons 'bare bottomed' flag was also a nice touch! Will be back again here soon
