Food is amazing $80pp and you get 10 dishes. I personally love their flavours and how they pair the two dish at a time combination. Mango white chocolate macadamia passionfruit for dessert is a must!! The place can be small, but food is amazing.
It was fun to go with friends to their favourite restaurant, and it’s so close to us in Surry Hills, and I’d already had recommendations to check it out. Arthur is doing a fantastic job at really elegant food, in a cosy neighbourhood setting and with fantastic value!. $80 for 5 courses seems a steal, especially for the quality of the food. The wine is a little pricy so maybe that’s how they’re surviving.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This

If you love the neighbourhood feel of restaurants like the sadly departed Blancmange in Petersham, or Stanmore’s Sixpenny, there’s a fair whack of corner-store charm in Arthur, even if it is situated in cosmopolitan Surry Hills. While the Set Menu ($80/head) reads like it will be a drawn-out degustation, by presenting the dishes in pairs, owner/chef Tristan Rosier (ex-Farmhouse Kings Cross and Biota Dining) ensures it eats more like a five-course sharing meal. Dining in this Victorian era corner building feels homely, what with the distressed walls and the round-backed wooden chairs. The two-room restaurant has about forty seats, mostly arranged around solid wooden tables. For the Sunday lunch I took part in, nearly all of them had bums on chairs, giving it quite...
A cosy little joint at Surry Hills. Food was great and service was excellent. Really worth a visit!!
Great degustation menu. Staff recommended a few wines to pair with our meal. All the courses were lovely, from the bread to the dessert. Would highly recommend
This small restaurant in Surry Hills is doing everything right: a 5 course degustation menu with only fresh produce, amazing homemade bread, and unexpected savours.
You just need to sit down, relax and let the friendly team bring you the plates (to be shared, of course!)
Two sittings, one set menu and 10 elegant dishes. Surry Hills’ latest restaurant offering, Arthur, is one big dinner party. The menu is always evolving, favouring whatever produce is in season, and mostly made from scratch, including the godlike sourdough and accompanying cultured butter.
A lovely neighbourhood place with delicious wine and food. Standouts were the kangaroo tartare and the creamy buttery sauce of the pork loin. The bottle of chardonnay from Tassie was also a banger. Would be even better if some dishes had a bit more food, but that's just because I'm a pig.
I loved dining at Arthur because of the overall sensory experience that immerses you for the entire 2 hours you are dining. The venue itself is beautiful and the owners have kept the aesthetic of the restaurant close to it’s Victorian heritage. This makes the space feel warm and inviting, like a family member’s home. This comforting intrinsic quality is carried through in the way food is prepared in front of diners, and how food is presented in a shared dining approach where multiple dishes are made for enjoying with the company of friends. The plates of food are continuous and by plate number 11 you feel full and walk away almost feeling guilty for not helping to wash up dishes. Thanks for creating a home-away from-home space. I will be back soon to drink more Australian wine off your winelist and try new dishes.
Arthur is a newly opened restaurant in Surry Hills.
I was impressed by the excellent service and wonderful food, which was matched with Australian wine. The kangaroo tartare was delicious. I have never had kangaroo meat like that before – it was so tender and juicy. I would highly recommend Arthur for special dates or as a cool place to chill with friends.
