Staff are so friendly and the food is amazing for pub food and so reasonably priced I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stop by for a bite and drink or make a night out of it
Your typical pub food ! We usually go downstairs where it is a little more cosy and quiet compared to the rusty look dining and drinking area upstairs , the food cost around 15-19$ and in good portion! It is great to try out if you are nearby and wanted something simple and quick !
Established in 1988 smack bang in the middle of the CBD, Cheers Bar is renowned as one of the most popular sports bars in Sydney and is famously home to the official Liverpool Supporters Club of NSW. The old-school venue is divided into two distinct areas: upstairs is the sports bar with 26 screens dotted throughout; downstairs is vintage New York speakeasy inspired bar 80 Proof which transforms into a club on the weekends, delivering a soundtrack of commercial dance music.
Cheers has been a major pit stop for many of us over the years and through it’s temporary evolution of the 80 Proof spinoff, we rediscovered a great underground venue space that hosts a lineup of entertainment from stand up comedy to hip hop crew dance-offs to corporate functions. So it’s nice that it goes back to basics with what we loved most about it - Sport, Entertainment and Hearty food. Currently there is a streak of Asian in some of the dishes which makes sense, but all our old faves are still there.
THE HAWKER PLATE is a mixed grill of pork belly slices and southern fried chicken. Its a great example of how it’s menu has streaks of Asian influence through it, as it shares the board with Thai/Malaysian street style peanut sauced Satay Chicken sticks - a welcome addition.
THE VERMICELLI NOODLE SALAD takes you Vietname with the crunch from the bean sprouts and kick of slight chill and coriander with battered sliced fish through it!
Mate had the NY BURGER: (Quote) "I went the double bacon cheeseburger and wasn't dissapointed. Not my preferred cheddar, prefer the American, but the beef and bacon were good. Bun was soft. Again, my dislike of sweet caramelised onions on a beef burger was apparent to me. Chips although basic were well seasoned.” - I love caramelized onion so this burger would have been up my alley, but I was very pleased with my choice!
Lucky enough to be served by the manager himself, Mark and very personable character with superfast delivery times from the (I peered in) small kitchen! It’s like magic I tell ya!!!
This isn’t just for NRL, EPL, UFC fans as there’s a great mix of sports lovers, carefree and corporates that come through setting a really relaxed and funky vibe to the place!
Met with Mark downstairs (GM) who took the time to sit and talk with us about the direction of the food and business. Cheers is first and foremost a sports, comfortable in its identity, attracting crowds for love shown events. We got the hawker plate and burger. Both were great. Hawker plate at $22 is GREAT value. Worth visiting again.
Have been here numerous times over the years but not lately. I went in to watch the League. They had the Super Rugby on at the same time but that was on down stairs with audio and League was upstairs with audio and didn't interfere with each other.
Being a vego I wasn't exprecting much but I almost instantly saw they had a lentil burger and locked it in! Came with chips, which were really nice. A bit too salted for my liking bit I pretty much never use salt.
The burger was tasty as all hell!! There was a couple of jalapenos on the skewer they stab the burger with, so they went straight in. I love jalapenos so much.
Service was excellent, very quick every time.
Awesome experience !!. Amazing food for the price! Aswe as that, the atmosphere during sport is second to none in Sydney
Excellent atmosphere. Awesome food and well priced
Awesome bar staff! Vanessa, Elaine, Minh always with a smile on their faces. The schnitzels are Humungous!
A great place to watch a game or just hang out with friends
Cheers!. Being reasonably ignorant of places to eat in the Sydney CBD we used Urbanspoon to find somewhere. This led us to Cheers Bar & Grill! Whilst everybody didn't know our name...the meal was unreal! The boys had the schnitzel & we had burgers. The ingredients were fresh & very tasty. The guys couldn't stop raving about the schnitzel. As with other reviewers they loved the crunchy old style crumb coating on the schnitzel. The cost was extremely reasonable & good value for money. The staff were very friendly, accommodating & were happy to share a joke with us.
We'll be back!!!
Jordan L’Estrange is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear ‘Real Estate’. Not many things are comparable to the professionalism and experience he provided
After living in the eastern suburbs for over 25+ years, he has certainly exceeded my expectation and set the bar extraordinarily high
Would highly recommend for not only the service he provides but also the experience
