Great tasting food! Ordered the hoppers with the fish curry and the goat meat curry with red rice. Really well made with the right amount of spice! Will surely visit again!

Lovely service! The waiter ordered for us and was super helpful. Our favourite dishes were the fish and beef Curry. It went really well with the potato curry, and we got the mixed sides. I loved the red chilli one! We also ordered a meat main that was covered in a pastry and came with a chilli sauce - recommend!

Our expectations usually exceed when we are supposed to try any thing remote Nepalese Or Indian or Sri Lankan, and Lankan Filling Station, with all the fame and hype, was under our radar from the time we sat down on our respective chair.

We were greeted by a very warm lady who gave us a beef about a very brief menu. Its really simple and easy. Chose to order an Egg Hopper, Chicken Curry (which apparently comes with bone), Arab Cutlet and Red Rice.

Delish! Delish! Delish!

Cutlet.was super moist and crispy from puri side, Hopper done just perfect, Chicken curry perfecto spice and flavoured (they had not compromised on hotness) and Red Rice, perfecto.cooked and flavored with Ghee (Clarified butter)

This is close to the most authentic Srilankan cuisine we have eaten and probably one among the 3 best in Australia.

Vegans and vegetarian can have a decent choice to choose from. Prices for the quality, taste and hospitality is just right.

A MUST ....lives up to the hype

In Short: Lankan Filling Station is leading the pack, as Sri Lankan cuisine really hits its stride across Sydney. Rock up, line up, and get yourself a few hoppers and brace yourself for a flavour explosion from the curries. . When I started thinking about writing this post, I was interested in the back story of O Tama Carey, owner and head chef at Lankan Filling Station. Reading her profile revealed a lady who got where she is in life by sheer hard work, persistence, flexibility, and no doubt a heap of cooking skills. To go from from Japanese, Italian, Chinese, and now to Sri Lankan cuisine shows a rare ability to adapt and excel.

We finally made it to Lankan Filling Starion and it didn’t disappoint. As there were seven of us, we had to have the banquet and there was more than enough food.

The dishes are traditional Sri Lankan food with a modern touch. The standout dish for me was definitely the Hot Butter Cuttlefish (pictured). The cuttlefish is coated in a light tumeric batter and it just melts in your mouth.

I had never had a hopper before. The banquet came with two hoppers, an egg one (pictured) and a plain one. The hoppers are meant to be broken and dipped into the curries but I put the curry in the hopper and ate it like a taco!

The curries that we had were the prawn curry and the cashew curry (both pictured). The prawn curry was spicy and packed with flavour and the cashew curry was mild and creamy and just perfect after the heat of the prawn curry.

I will definitely be back, perhaps to try the brunch menu. #srilankanfillingstation

A smallish place located on Riley Street in Darlinghurst so it might be wise to book. I had anticipated some pretty spicy dishes on the menu but it was all surprisingly mild. That is not to say it wasn't good. The food was in fact amazing. We had initially ordered the egg hopper sets but had to order more as they were just too good to pass up. Try the string hoppers with mutton curry. Awesome!

Located on Riley Street, this small eatery is filled with spiced aromas as soon as you step in. We came here for lunch right on the dot at 12 which meant we got our choice of table and no wait which is always a good thing during the week!

The menu is sorted into 5 main parts including short eats, hoppers, curries, vegetables & sides as well as sambols & pickles. They also have a small dessert menu. We pretty much shared everything but I steered clear of the spicy foods as they tend not to agree with me. I enjoyed the hoppers the most. The Egg Hopper was well made and very tasty. We had shared the String Hopper & Kiri Set which comprised of rice flour noodle pancakes and kiri hodi (coconut milk gravy) which I could’ve consumed all by myself as the flavours were rich and boiled egg I got with it suited it to a tee.

Service was helpful without being intrusive.

I was blown away by this place. I always like flavours that surprise me and aren’t what I’m used to, and in my limited experience of Sri Lankan food, there’s a depth and complexity, and a hit of spice, which I find delightful. I’d heard recommendations but hadn’t made my way to the Lankan Filling Station in Darlinghurst. We arrived a little after 7pm on a Tuesday and it was packed; we had to wait another half an hour to get in. Then, it’s a crowded little place with tiny tables, and I wasn’t sure of what to make of the menu: like a yum cha place where you tick off the orders on your own.

With the new Lankan Filling Station opened in Darlinghurst, I was pretty excited to have a go at some good Sri Lankan food again. This time I was with a manager of mine that new Sri Lankan cuisine, and it made the whole experience perfectly seamless. Located on the more residential side of Darlinghurst, we ended up opting for an Uber to get there (that’s possibly the only downside - it isn’t super close to the train line). The one thing I will note here, Lankan Filling Station doesn’t take bookings for groups under 6. This was actually really frustrating considering we were told at arrival it would take over an hour for a table (it didn’t actually take an hour), which definitely made us consider other dinner options.

First time here the other night and was pretty impressed. Food was delicious, super tasty. Service was also attentive and efficient. We booked for a Saturday night and we did have to have the $70 banquet but that seemed like good value considering the food you received and you don't have to think about what to do. They also accept part payments - we paid part cash and credit card. I did have trouble locating it as the name is not visible outside, just a logo. It's located next to Red lantern on a corner. Google maps wasn't very clear.

Went to a Sri Lankan restaurant for the first time. The servers were really friendly. To me, the most interesting item is the White Chili. I was expecting it to be spicy, but it actually tasted quite salty.

Lankan Filling Station is as close to an authentic experience of South Indian/ Srilankan food that you can get in Sydney. They don't hold back on the spice, and their hoppers are to die for! Must visit for people who are looking to expand their gastronomy. I know I'll be back soon.
