We ordered the Nasi Pedang and the Bakmi Medan. The Nasi Pedang was generous and authentic, and the green sambal was a hit!
Great Indonesian food at a decent price. Many dishes available to choose from and very flavorful. Just about the right amount of spiciness for my liking. Specials available and surprise snacks and desserts I hadn't eaten for a long time. I always leave satisfied never disappointed. Great rijsttafel options for us with Dutch heritage. I would recommend to give them a try. Lekker man.
Very very authentic Indonesian food. Super spicy but really yummy. Friendly staffs and good service. Highly recommend!
If you are not good at chilli, just need to put half of the chilli sauce.
If you're a big fun of chilli, this is it. Indonesian cuisine use lots of chilli and they're so fresh.
I tried fried rice there and it was nice.
Each plates are pretty big so this place is great for big eater for cheap. I love it.
Incredible cheap and authentic Indonesian restaurant! Spiciness and portion size is out of this world! I went with mates and I got the MIE GORENG KANGKUNG BELACAN. I grew up eating kangkung so I just had to get it. There wasn't much of it in proportion to the noodles, but it was cooked just right. Belacan can bo stinky but luckily, and I do mean luckily, you couldn't smell it. Spice wise... wow! I remembered we order other stuff to share, one was the beef rendang, which made it too much lol!On the weekends, they have a specials menu which is even more Indonesian! There was a lot of options like gado-gado and ayam goreng, but I couldn't say no and shared a decent size bowl, for one person, of Sup Buntut. Or oxtail soup. A comfort food I use to eat when I was growing up! The counter has varieties of Indonesian snacks and dessert which you can eat in but most just take out.Food is great. Different to other Indonesian places in Sydney. Must be because the owner and staff are Indonesian Chinese hence the pork in the food and the mandopop playing in the background. Service is good as well. Recommend to all foodies out there!
We can’t believe it took us this long to try this Indo restaurant! We are actually in love! Not only do they have crazy cheap eats, but huge portions and each dish was so delicious and wholesome. We felt like we entered someone’s home for perfect home cooked feast.
There was nothing to fault at this restaurant, we demolished every dish and couldn’t get enough! We highly recommend this place that we want to see if they will deliver to our work in Pitt Street for lunch.

Located in the north Sumatra province in Indonesian, Medan is the fourth largest city in the country, separated from Malaysia by the Strait of Malacca. The city is known as culinary heaven, prominent for its cheap local eateries with Chinese, Malaysian and middle eastern influences. Lucky for us, our journey today is only a five minutes’ walk from Central Station to Medan Ciak.
Biting into a whole cardamom is always unpleasant; it’s soapy and pungent, with a concentrated punch. But the thing is, as I know from when I’ve used it in my own cooking, it’s a good sign: that a dish has great spices, and not just ground powders. And Medan Ciak serves up Indonesian food with great flavour.
This place is an easy going and not fussy at all. Feels like something you would get if you were to visit Medan. The food was fantastic! I’m glad I don’t live in Sydney because I might eat there everyday of the week.
A classic padang resto and I discovered that it delivers. For the nasi padang, they grab a wide variety of interesting stuff. The rendang was a bit fatty but the meat bits were very tender and tasty - unfortunately I only got a very small piece, so I’d like to go in person to get more. It is more expensive than Pondok Buyung but the quality measures up.
