Ok this review will be a bit different because I went to this place just for beer! (And some chips) I know Zomato is related to the food but this is important anyway because when you have good beer even the bad food taste good! Just go to this place and grab some handcraft beers. I loved the stout!
I was looking for a place to have a decent dinner prior to attending a concert at Allianz stadium. Having seen that the Zomato reviews were pretty good, I thought I would check it out for myself.
We had the flat iron steak, the pumpkin gnocci and chicken wings. The food itself was quite tasty and reasonable value. The chicken wings were quite good in that the coating had some crunch, but just seemed like the flavour needs some tweaking to get it perfect.
In regards to ambience, I loved the timber upstairs and the old books and photos, which make you feel like you are visiting someone's house rather than just a bar. However, the problem with the hard surfaces was that it was quite noisy and difficult to have a conversation. Yes it may have been my bad luck that I happened to be sitting next to a table of 10 people who were quite loud, but I still think that noise is an ongoing problem they would have.
Conclusion: If you are looking to avoid the notorious takeaway at Allianz stadium, I would definitely recommend this place. If it is a date night and you need quieter surroundings for your dinner conversation, I suspect that nearby Thai Nesia would be a better bet.
Note that I have uploaded a menu because it is different to the one which shows on Zomato at the moment.
The Local Tap House is a dreamland for beer-lovers and certainly one of Sydney's best-kept secrets. Situated at the junction of Flinders Street and South Dowling Street in Darlinghurst, the art-Deco building features a beautiful 1920s interior and a rooftop open--air garden (not during winter though!)
While most typical bars and hotels offer a range of common beers and cocktails, the Local Taphouse allows you to rediscover your tastebuds with an eclectic mix of crafts beer from 20 unique and rotating taps which they brewed from their backyard. What comes out from the tap were rich, gourmet beers which were absolutely mind bogging.
I had my Mango Ale a couple of months ago. The rich Mango flavour combines flawlessly with the thin summer ale. The attractive golden appearance and the aromatic and flavourful beer gives me an unforgettable experience. What impresses me more is a constantly changing tap list 😁
