Since changing day jobs back in November, I’ve been searching for a Japanese lunch spot that has the right combination of quality and price, within walking distance of my new CBD office. Went for a weekday lunch. Had a sashimi bowl and my wife had one of the bento boxes - of which they only make 10 per day. Sahimi was excellent and whilst the bento box looked great it wasn't overly impressive. Service was good. Will definitely go back for the sashimi.

We booked for the omakase (sushi degustation) experience at the sushi bar. It was a good selection for a very reasonable price. Favourite from the night was the alfonsino, egg and tuna pieces!

Gold Class Daruma is situated in Grace Hotel, in Sydney CBD. They serve authentic Japanese food. I enjoyed everything we ordered especially the fresh selection of sashimi.

We booked the $70 omakase for tonight. Service was excellent - the lady asked my name when we entered and she knew we were there for omakase straight away. Chef was really friendly and gave us free small dishes while we were waiting for our other friends.
All the fishes were really fresh and well prepared, chef explained the ingredients and asked for our feedback on every piece of sushi, the scampi miso soup at the end was the best miso I’ve had in Sydney.
Price is very reasonable for the quality and quantity.

A traditional Japanese restaurant hidden inside the Grace hotel. We decided to give it a try for our anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. Service was very polite, and you can tell that they've put a lot into the decor, importing tables and the 'tea house' from Japan. In terms of food, everything was authentic and comparable to meals in Japan - we enjoyed mixed agedashi to the sushi omakase, sea eel tempura, grilled scallops and the very delicate seafood ankake. The only very minor criticism is that the match panna cotta was too sweet for our palate - it could do with 1/3 less sugar. We look forward to returning to try out the other dishes!

The atmsophere and service was really lovely. We ordered the $99 course - make sure you've got an empty stomach because it's a LOT of food. Lots of raw fish. Even a sashimi lover like me was more than satiated with the amount of raw fish in that course. Absolutely loved the dessert!

Went here last year in May and at the time they weren't on Zomato. Came to check if they were still open as I'm going to sydney again and haven't stopped thinking about how good this place was. 
The meal I had here I still talk about being the best thing I've ever eaten. 
Do yourself a favour and check it out.

My fav place in Sydney. If you looking for genuine Japanese food, this is it. Supers service as always provided by Emma and Aki sang. Keep the good work. Been consistently having both lunch and dinner, quality wise never disappointed me. Recommend to everyone!

Nice quiet place on lvl 1 of grace hotel serving traditional style Japanese degustation (omakase) from $65 for 6 courses. Lovely service and setting.

Awesome fine dining Japanese restaurant. Excellent food and service. I had some excellent sushi, seafood tempura and karaage chicken. All the food was delicious. This is not cheap. Expect about $100 per person for a good feed and drinks or more

Loved it! Had the Sake Omakase and Hibiki course on Valentine's Day. The selection of Sake personally selected by Sake Sommelier Yuichi Kanamaru was a wonderful range of Sake from Sparkling to dessert. He has explained each region and their speciality of them. You can clearly feel his passion in a very friendly manner. The food was delicious and had paired well with the sake choices. I am definitely coming back for more next time!!

Celebrated a birthday here and it was an absolute joyous experience. From the ambience, to the food & to the service. The Japanese cuisine here is fresh, delicate and authentic. Every dish was made with alot of thought and care. We ordered something outside the menu and they were able to accommodate. On several occasions, it was the chef that served the dish and asked how we are enjoying the overall food experience, services like this really makes a mark. I'm not naming a particular dish because everything was spot on! Thank you for giving us a great night and we will definitely return.

Yuichi San the master of Sake was amazing. We ended up extending our 5 course to 8, its hard to pass up good drinks when you have a little extra time. Very good refresher on Sake knowledge! 🙇‍♂️

What an amazing experience! We had omakase with chef Daigo and it was pheneonmal. Daigo was professional and a great conversationalist. His skills really wowed us away. The food was extremely fresh and there were plenty of courses ranging from appetisers, soup to sushi, aburi grill and sashimi (plus dessert). The Chawanmushi egg custard served with blue swimmer crab was a umami bomb. The freshly prepared seafood was full of flavour. You really get a traditional omakase experience that focuses on giving customers way more sushi and sashimi than they usually get. The rice was also great, it's tinted brown because of the special red vinegar used to prepare the sushi rice. My partner who doesn't venture into the world of raw seafood loved it too! We both agreed that this experience was amazing. I highly recommend it for a special date night or celebration. The ambience of the setting really reminds me of Japan. It is not overtly contemporary and gaudy but very warm with wooden fittings and traditional decor thus very intimate and cosy (perfect for omakase). We were both very full so I suggest only having an early lunch beforehand if you are attending the 5.30pm session. Please note I didn't take a picture of everything such as the special miso soup and all the sushi. 10/10 worth the price and experience.

Sydney is currently having a wave of sushi Omakase restaurants pop up and whilst some are 1) incredibly difficult to book and 2) on the pricey side, Gold Class is thankfully non of those things and is a great all round experience. When booking you can select from a menu of chefs and for my pick I was lucky to be hosted by Chef Daigo for an intimate Monday night dinner with only 6 patrons for my seating. The small group setting means you get time to make conversation with the chef and watch them in their element, something you may not be able to get elsewhere. What GC lacks in terms of modern and refined decor is made up by the delicious omakase experience. It's fantastic value for money ($130pp vs others which are $200pp+) and I would not hesitate to come back!

Third time repeat customer and omakase fan. Chefs are fantastic and watching them work is like watching art unfold. You eat with all your senses here: look, feel, smell and taste. Always a repeat customer and happy to send along friends and family if they need a recommendation!
