This place is so good that I find myself visiting whenever I am in that part of town. I have done lunch and dinner here a few times already with friends and work colleagues. O'uchi is a small cafe/restaurant nestled on Clarence Street and a hop and skip away from the Wynard Station. They serve Japanese organic food that is delicious and fresh and reasonably priced too. You cannot make bookings here so plan well to avoid the lunch time crowds.  O'uchi is my favourite Japanese in Sydney so far.

Does My Bomb Look Big In This

The service at O’Uchi is gentle and slow. The new restaurant feels worlds away from the former, gossamer fabric-draped Brisbane Street restaurant – Uchi Lounge – where the jazz soundtrack was broken up with shuddering bangs as the building’s dumbwaiter moved between floors. Here the exterior is sandstone and regal, while the interior is green and homely, with wooden furniture and an earthy brown striped banquette. The look ties into that additional O you'll find in the updated name, indicating the restaurant's organic, chemical and additive-free ethos     So, to get things started on the right foot, I kick off with the Hi Iced Tea ($10), a simple cocktail made using toasty, organic green tea – hojicha - and Iichiko Shochu. The latter is a popular Japanese distilled spirit (similar to vodka) that, in this case, is distilled from barley by Japan’s best-selling shochu producer. The same spirit is also used in...

Gorgeous Japanese restaurant with great decor. Many veg and vegan options. Friendly service and complimentary fresh fruit infused water. Open for lunch and dinner.
I had the 'Eggplant Parmesan curry' without the Parmesan to made it vegan. was more on the eggplant miso side than curry. but still yummy overall.
Can't wait to try the other vegan and gf options on the menu.

It’s hard to find a good place to eat Japanese Organic food! It’s said their food is 90% organic. It’s a small restaurant and all tables quickly get full at lunch time so it’s better to get there at 12pm. I had lunch box which came with a lot of food! I really enjoyed teriyaki fish. It’s not a usual teriyaki fish - it’s not too sweet & salty and it had a nice flavour and the fish was moist! I heard their curries are also good so I will try it next time.

Visited in September. Had the tasting menu with dessert ($55). Friendly service. My favorites are the beef ribs, salmon sashimi, miso eggplant, green tea creme brulee and the Yuzu sorbet. Ordered the smoked duck as well. Great tasting flavours. Would visit again!

Delicious chicken karaage - the skin was delightfully crispy rather than flat and soggy which is often an issue. My sister had ramen which was terrific and had a beautifully poached egg as well as crunchy tempura. Prices were pretty good value for a sit-down, quality organic Japanese meal ($16 for my karaage set). Would definitely repeat again

I absolutely loved this place. Every dish was excellent. The delicate green tea smoked duck and the soft and sweet short rib were stand outs. The decor is more cafe style but the dishes were definitely what I would expect in a restaurant. Definitely going as soon as I can again.

I don't know any other japanese restaurants in Sydney which is as" organic" and "tasty". I also tried ramen with beef topping here, the broth was really flavorful and roasted beef just fell from bone and completely melted in my mouth. amazing.

Tried their Kara age chicken don. The chicken was juicy and full of flavour which is usually not the with this dish in most of the restaurants. The rice was yumm and complemented the chicken very well. Though it was on the pricier side but the taste made it worth it. Definite recommendation.

Have been here a couple of times now and always experienced friendly service, lovely ambience with classy music playing, and flavours that are delicious and perfectly balanced - definitely a cut above. Lots of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options, all clearly marked. Highly recommend

Awesome little Japanese Restaurant in the heart of Sydney CBD selling great quality organic food and drinks. Get in early. There is a queue to get in here shortly after 12pm weekdays. I had a big bowl of yummy Karaage chicken ramen Noodle Soup. Chicken based broth rather than a pork broth. So good, full of flavour. The fried chicken was the star of this meal. $16.50 which a good price for city food. Highly recommended. I will be back soon to try their Kara-age chicken curry with rice $18

Quantity Japanese hole in the wall. You won't regret visiting. The the sashimi was fresh, the ramen was exceptional and the bento box was well sized. Quality ingredients and a local secret. Recommend the duck or the chicken and scallop. Being a hole in the wall there is limited seating and it's usually busy. Come early so you don't miss out on the specials as they are limited. Sapporo on tap is another bonus!

Sushi, yes! Which way to go? Barangaroo or just 190m (staying at the “West Hotel Curio”) away to what looks like an authentic? Now we have been here - no question, love this little restaurant! 5-by-5.

Love the combination of Japanese and Western elements. A notable restaurant for people bored of the traditional style of ramen. Try the whiskey. The Japanese barman comes and pours it infront of you (which is pretty cool) .

Had a lovely experience here. Different, quirky, delicious Japanese food, not your typical dishes. Staff were very friendly and attentive service.

After telling myself to try and eat there, i finally did after 3 years. Food is amazing. Would come back again and recommended. My only regret is that it took me 3 years to try this place.
