Nice ambient, good prices and big dishes. I've tried the cheese burger and the chicken parmigiana. The burger was really good, delicious meat, well cooked, basically perfect. The chicken was a big dish with chips and salad, tasty but I think it needed a bit of salt, other than that all good. The decoration of the pub is really funny, full of very strange and interesting objects. Very friendly staff.
I don’t think there’s another pub in Sydney that can hold a candle to the friend when it comes to the atmosphere. Feels like a proper pub with locals, it wouldn’t be out of place in a country town.
The burgers are awesome as well and the onion rings are bordering on perfection.
Jake at the Friend is much more than a burger joint in Jake Chalmers and much more than a pub in The Friend In Hand Hotel Glebe. It is a nostalgic trip to a retro pub museum ran by a cockatoo serving some of the better burgers in NSW with a side of beer. What more do you want?
