A dear friend recommended Industry Beans on York street to try out their food and delicious coffee. To celebrate the start of a new job we decided to treat ourselves one morning and found ourselves in this sleek, and incredibly modern establishment. Walking in you are greeted with the superb grey, white and pale wood tones of the decor. The cafe is set up in true minimalist form, with subtle accents, and little hints of green throughout the dining space. The barista’s zone is equipped with exceptionally high-tech looking apparatus’ and really gives me the feeling of getting coffee from the future. It’s a cafe without the loud scraping and tapping of the coffee maker, and the dirty brown aprons covered in coffee grounds. It’s seriously beautiful - so much so we found ourselves staring at the front bench wondering how we could equip our future kitchen in a similar fashion.
This smallish cafe is an off shoot from their cafe in Melbourne. It’s located on York Street and was quite busy on the morning I visited. There was a slight wait for a table and was kindly informed I could wait or takeaway if I needed to get something quicker. I opted to wait till a space became free as a friend recommended I try the breakfast here.
The service was excellent and friendly. A space was found for me on the communal table and water brought out to me. I ordered a Mocha and Fruit Sashimi. The coffee was smooth and perfect for the start of my day. The fruit was an elegantly presented dish. Made up of papaya, wattleseed rice crisp, cold brew panna cotta, strawberry gel, watermelon, berries, and coffee caviar. Each component made this dish sing. It’s best to eat a mixture in each mouthful to get the full effect. Very much enjoyed this fresh summery dish. It was light but filling at the same time.
Definitely one to visit for something not usually on the breakfast/brunch menu.
Their service is excellent and the coffee is not bad. I don’t know why their score is low
