The shop has both a traditional yet modern vibe. I had dinner here and ordered a vegetable, buns and fried rice. The food was REALLY good, although the price point seems a little high. Would definitely be back!

When I first come here I thought the staff was a little rude. They didnât treat me nice. But when I came back a second time this time with an Asian friend they where very polite, smiling and laughing. The only reason the got 4 stars for service is because itâs no 100 waited the whole service. Need to order at counter first itâs not table service
We order xiao long bao pork dumplings they where made fresh. And the taste was to die for.
We also shared a plate of the pork and chive dumplings, they where amazing too. We went back 3 times in a week. The pork and chive dumpling can change a little bit but not much some times it has a lot of chives other times not so much. But still taste amazing.
We had two soy milks it was not full to the top but tasted amazing. Iâm guessing these are made off premises.
Always came here whenever I crave for porridge. The staffs were all nice and the food came pretty quick. The price was reasonable as well for a bowl of hearty porridge. I ordered the minced pork and century egg which was good since they gave generous amount of meat and egg
The food is great! I love the bun! The quality is good, the people are nice. The place is very nice. The drinks is nyummy, very recommended to asian people!
An eatery like straight out of Hong Kong. Very flavoursome congee without too much hint of msg. Very juicy xiao long bao too! Will def be back!
We came to The Bun Gallery with a group of 12 last Saturday night and found the whole experience very enjoyable. The service was efficient, friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the price very reasonable. Particular favourites were the Shao Mai dumplings (chicken & mushroom), xiao long bao (the soup dumpling) and the red bean bun.
We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following week for hot and spicy soup and more dumplings. Recommended!
Xiao long bao at its best. $8.8 for 6 ($2 cheaper than din tai fung haha) and it literally taste just as good. Lots of pork and flavour! Very convenient location too.
I haven't been to the city for a while so it was nice when we took our friend out for a quick dinner for her birthday before other activities. Food came out pretty quick and everything tasted nice. The fried rice was done well, just lacked a little bit of salt, but they had some self serve condiments on a table where you can get chilli sauce, vinegar and soy sauce. Our favourite was the deep fried mini bun, the outside was crunchy but the inside was still very fluffy and not to mention how generous they are with the condensed milk served on the side. Other places we have been to give you a little dollop for 6 buns whereas we could dunk the buns in and still have some leftover. Will be back again to try other things.

Sydneyâs Chinatown has some of the most authentic Chinese food outside of China. There is no lack of good Chinese restaurants and I think Coco and Vine has unearthed a hidden gem amongst the endless options. The Bun Gallery is located in Ultimo, just opposite UTS and Market City. In terms of location, The Bun Gallery is a winner, as it is convenient for students or anyone visiting Chinatown/Haymarket area. Being a double storey restaurant, there are seating options available on the 1st and 2nd floor of the restaurant. Seated on the first floor, you have the advantage of a full view of the chefs at work. The concept is deliberate, and the diner is assured that the food is prepared with utmost care in a clean and bright kitchen. If you want more privacy, you can opt for a seat on the 2nd level. The stairway leading to the 2nd floor is decorated to look like a Chinese alleyway, with traditional Chinese restaurant signage. The walls are also adorned with Chinese newspaper wallpaper. Plastered on the walls of the restaurant are red and gold Chinese words of auspiciousness and good wishes.
Came a couple of times with a friend, once they let us in past closing time which was nice .
We had :
Preserved egg and pork congee- delicious especially considering the price.
Pork bun- juicy mince, nice balance between bun and pork, a tad plain but a sound bun.
Mapo tofu- was not overly spicy, very tender and soft, but didn't come with rice.
Fried dumplings- Very juicy on the inside, nice and crisp at the bottom, the best out of what we had ordered but pricey considering the number of dumplings.
Overall the taste is on point and of decent value. Iirc surcharge for card payments under 20.
Yummy place, tasty - almost up there. Great place to come back with friendly, fast service. Food tasted fresh, definitely will come back for the crispy tasty salt and pepper calamari. The dumplings were nice - skin/bao was nice but would love to have a bit more kick (tweak the flavour)with the fillings, goes the same with the sauce for the deep fried egg noodles and spicy and sour soup.
I'm a Chinese Australian who's eaten a LOT of dumplings, from every single chain in Sydney, pretty much.
This is hands down my favourite place in Aus to get flavourful, firm and tender chilli wontons. The chill oil blend isnt too heavy, has a nice kick and tastes of sweet vinegar.
The rice with egg and tender beef is made just like my grandma's. It's hearty, homely and splendid on a chilly day.
Slightly pricey, as you only get 6 dumplings vs 8, but the best tasting Chinese treats I've had in the past 10 years.
Shanghai food from China. Quite authentic, Chinese style cooking. Cooks must be from China. Loved the dishes, only problem is that the beans a bit too Salty. Spicy Sichuan peppers used so some dishes can be quite hot. Really sweating after eating the chillies and pepper together. Overall worth the visit. Vegetarian options available too.
Super yummy pan fried dumplings and pork bun. The dough was bouncy and the filing was delicious.
Nice atmosphere. The upstairs area is really inviting. Great dumpling and buns itâs great if youâre at UTS as it convenient and cheap. Its prefect for a quick bite
I've bought takeaways from this place several times and all the dishes that I've tried were tasty. My favourite dish is perhaps their Hokkien Fried Rice, but I've also enjoyed their Fried Flat Noodles with Beef & Deep Fried Chicken with Dried Chilli (loved the flavours although there are bones in it, which was perhaps due to Sichuan style). Friendly and fast service every time, and the tall skinny guy chef is definitely a fantastic chef!
