Good service and atmosphere but I found the food to be lacking. I love the sound of the menu but unfortunately our shared plates didn't quite hit the mark. We had the octopus, lamb, fried cheese and chicken small plates. Maybe we had an off night so I'll be back to try again.
Less than a year old, The Public has created buzz in the Lower North Shore. The modern interior subtly pushes the barrier between restaurant and pub, allowing that family lunch to easily transition into a night out with friends.
Cammeray’s answer to a trendy pub (was never a fan of the old Belgian Beer Cafe), with a Greek/Mediterranean inspired menu. Living in Cammeray, i’ve been to The Public on countless occasions. From meals with friends to a few causal drinks at the bar. With a fantastic buzzing vibe and always with a great crowd.
I’ve had a chance to try quite a lot of the menu and have been able to narrow down to a few favourites.

I went to The Public on a recent trip to Cammeray. Annoyingly for my friends, I am a Pescatarian. This can be challenging with Greek cuisine AND share food, but the manager was very helpful and pointed me to a range of dishes I could enjoy. The menu has an extensive list of great vegetable and fish dishes. The food was excellent and they have a great range of tap beers. The fitout look great- so much better than what was there previously!
A great atmosphere and afternoon with friends. I will be back.
Best quality pub food ever. Never had a bad meal. Highest quality ingredients. Great owner. They’ll even do a takeaway if you ask! Excellent wine list too. The old great vibe is back in Cammeray again - since the new owner took over! Excellent music too!
Went on a Sunday with friends. Lovely venue. Friendly staff. Very nice food. Fried Cauliflower very nice. Good live entertainment. Perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Book a table as busy.

Sunday afternoon Sessions - Some of the best talant in Sydney play every Sunday afternoon, all of them are top shelf but our favorites are Bernie Segedin & Peter Northcote.
They are a pretty special duo and singularly are extremely talented, Bernie’s soaring vocals and Peters incredible versatile Guitar playing make them amongst the best anywhere on the planet.
If you haven’t visited The Public on a Sunday afternoon, then you are missing out on therapy for your ears and soul, BTW the food and drinks and the venue are also very nice, brought to you by entrepreneurial brother’s Harris " Singer Extrondanaire" and Artie "Da DJ" Stamos.

Have had two Christmas dinners planned here and both were a huge success! The staff went above and beyond to make sure our guests were well looked after and had a great time. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and customer service was excellent - look forward to planning more events here :)

We had the carbonara and beef Ragu which were exceptional plus a couple of tasty 🤤 IPA’s and XPA’s
Food was so good forgot to take a photo lol 😆 the presentation was as good as the food 10/10
Highly Recommend Thursday Steak night with a glass or two of Margan Barbera, footy on the screen and great tunes with your loved one. What more could I want?
