We had 7 people for lunch & they were busy so we only waited 5 mins for a great table at the front. We ordered drinks that arrived within 5 mins & we all ordered different from wine, beer, iced chocolates & soft drinks. We ordered food that arrived within 15 mins max. Steak sandwich, supercharged salad with calamari , slow cooked lamb, scrambled eggs, bacon & avocado, gingerbread waffles with icecream & chocolate sauce, Coffees to finish off a great lunch. Clean place & very friendly staff. 10/10 can't fault anything! We'll be back

Came in this morning with my mum and sisters for some breakfast and wow was it amazing! As avid coffee drinkers we were super impressed with the coffee. All our dishes were an unusual take on the typical cafe menu which were absolutely delicious! Service was on point. The location was perfect, only 5 minutes away from home. Cannot wait to come back and try the rest of the menu :)

One of my favourite cafes that I like to visit. During the past couple of months during lockdown, I was keen to support local business in getting take away and this was one of the places that I’d often visit, even if to just get a drink and their infamous bronuts!

Yes – they soo famous for their bronuts (which is a cross between a brioche and donut). They’re made fresh and have different flavours available and sometimes they sell out fast especially the popular flavours 

🔆LOCATION🔆

Down the Rabbit Hole Café is situated in a small row of shops on Newman Road in a very residential area. A lot of locals love to visit this café and myself included.
There is plenty of parking outside the café which is really good and the café itself is a decent size with good amount of seating, on a sunny day, customers can sit outside too. However during COVID-19, this is not possible anymore.

🔆SERVICE🔆

Take-away and pick up service only available during this time, however everything was very orderly. There’s a menu on a table stand outside window, with hand sanitizer. Plenty of space for customers to wait and once order is ready, staff call name out for collection.

Everything is contactless through window. Food was made quite prompt and service was very friendly and warming! Love visiting DTRH!

🔆MENU/PRICE🔆
On this visit, I ordered:

Turkish Roll with slow cooked lamb and slaw with chips, $17.00
Nutella bronut, $5.00
M&M bronut, $5.00

🔆VERDICT🔆

There was limited bronut options when I visited at around 1pm, but regardless still bought 2 to share with my sister. They are soo generous in size and very tasty! I particularly like the Nutella bronut. It was soo fluffy and the Nutella was just oozing out as I bit into it.
The Turkish roll with slow cooked lamb was delicious. The lamb was soo tender and full of flavour. Turkish roll fresh and crispy, slaw very tasty and balanced well.
Highly recommended this café if you haven’t visited yet.

We came by this cafe over the weekend. We ordered the breakfast board and the wonder white omelette. To be honest it was a hard choice as everything looked good on the menu. The breakfast board was beautifully presented. Everything was tasty - the acai cup was flavourful, the bagel was delicious and the bronuts were light and fluffy and to die for. The wonder white omelette paled in comparison. The omelette was seeping water into the toast which made it soggy. It also lacked flavour. The ingredients felt a little disjointed on the plate. The gin-cured salmon was tasty though. The coffee was good. I still enjoyed my visit very much and would come back to try other things off the menu. The service was great and very friendly.

Nothing much to say about this place that is not already visible from the ratings. Great quality food and service. Love the chorizo sausage, latte and chai latte!! Amazing! However the bacon is always a little overdone which takes away its succulent texture and flavour.

Went there on a beautiful sunday and it was a great experience. We arrived around midday and it was quite busy, scored ourselves an outdoor bench, there was no umbrella over that seat hence no one wants it but it was such a gorgeous day so we were super happy about it!

Ordered the Chilli Scrambled eggs add on chorizo, my friend had the beef sandwich thingy. Food was so yummy, I loved everything about it, my iced coffee must be one of the best I have ever had! Service was super quick and friendly. Too bad I dont live in the neighbourhood but definitely worth the drive to visit that place!

Really happy we found this lovely place, the space is generous but still intimidate, on a beautiful stretch of road in templestowe and with lovely staff, a generous varied menu with all the right options we could want, our group of 4 was really happy with our visit. We scoffed our food including two of us with dietary restrictions plus a baby visiting we felt welcomed and attended to. Great work guys!!

This place was ace! I had a beautiful chilli scramble with curd on a crunchy sourdough, adding the gin cured salmon and it was a perfect dish. Filled with flavour and presented beautifully, my sister had the Yuzu Benedict, which also was full of flavour although the rosti seemed a bit burnt unfortunately, it was redeemed with a really amazing loof leaf chai and delightful coffee. The sweets looked so good but we were too full so will just have to pop by again, the service was great and we lucked out with a table in the sun. Would recommend a visit!

I usually get something more exciting but let me tell you, somehow down the rabbit hole can make anything exciting!
I loved this simple yet delicious breakfast- creamy, perfectly scrambled eggs with a big serving of kale and a big side serving of deliciously sautéed mushrooms! Such a casual and relax atmosphere, love this place, great food and great coffee!
Great place to have a quick coffee or sit down with friends for a beautiful brunch, highly recommend!

I went to down the rabbit hole and got the slow cooker lamb and the fried chicken sliders, they were both amazing and well priced. Would recommend. Although, they did not have cold brew/drip coffee. It isn’t a negative just would like them to add it to their beautiful menu.

This cafe is perpetually busy but the vibe always seems to be upbeat. This review is mainly about their signature bronuts - a cross between brioche and a donut.

In a word, their bronuts were wowza! The texture of the bronut was quite unique. It was buttery and delicious. I tried the jam bronut as well as the peanut butter and jam bronut. The latter was far superior. The peanut butter was sweet and savoury. There was just the right amount of it with the not too sweet jam. The entire package just worked amazingly well.

It was well worth the effort to trek on down to this place just for those wowza bronuts!

The breakfast / brunch here was sensational! The breakfast platters were delicious, very well presented and filling at the same time! Parking was quite limited, especially as it was quite busy, but definitely worth the wait.

The day I went with my family the waitress were a bit slow and careless but the coffee and food are delicious! The reception is bad at the back but if you sit close to the entry it’s good.
