Great ambiance, fantastic service and great food. Extremely busy establishment that we called into on a whim. So glad we did!

I was very pleasantly surprised by this little cafe! They use Padre coffee beans and pull extremely delicious coffees. Also ordered a breakfast burrito and this was the first Australian shop to make a really hearty and tasty burrito! To be fair, I’ve been trying places around Brisbane and not Melbourne and this is the first Melbourne cafe I’ve ordered a breakfast burrito at. So far so good! They had a blend of spinach, bacon, eggs, black beans, corn, and a tasty sauce drizzled in there - AND - very importantly, they toasted the burrito. IMO, that makes the burrito lol
Anyway, the other items and pastries looks great and will be back to try them as this is gonna be my new coffee shop!
Consistently decent coffee in an unpretentious light filled environment with pleasant attentive service. Liam is great and keeps the place in check excellently.

I took one of my dogs for a nice groom. A full on clip and wash was much needed as summer and lots of walks had taken a toll. I needed to kill some time while the transformation took place. I didn’t fancy browsing in the gun shop across the road. I don’t need a gun or ammo, not at the moment anyway. I therefore needed another option to pass the time before my girl was presented back to me all spick and span.
Happily for me, Ampersand started calling my name from across the buzz of High Street. I decided to seek out a coffee here especially as the cafe’s neon sign has a “coffee and food” emblazoned in large block letters. You can’t miss it. I love the boldness of it. No subtle street presence here. This place takes the megaphone approach. I for one fully support it after years of driving and walking past places that are hard to spot. I commend them.
It’s a nice little cafe, alrighty. Pleasantly arranged in the customary contemporary way with nice touches throughout. There’s multiple areas to lounge here too including a gorgeous sun kissed back seating area. Add warm friendly service and a nice retro playlist and you’ve got a lovely spot.
The coffee here was killer good. Deeply rich and satisfying. Good beans. Very well made. It was a cracker. No food sampled today. That’s for the next visit.

The green omelette is pretty amazing here. The menu often changes (and is always delicious) but I think there would be outrage if the omelette was ever out of rotation. The coffee are service are good too and there's a cute little courtyard out the back. Local and down to earth. This place is a winner.
Best cold brew in town. Green omelette is delicious. And the staff are friendly without being overbearing. Definitely one of my favourite cafes in Thornbury. Spacious and relaxing place. Well done guys. X
Our go-to for brunch on High St.
Trendy but down to earth, Ampersand is the perfect balance of cafes. The creative menu is always changing, and the coffee is always spot on with Padre beans. Honestly can never remember a bad experience at Ampersand and we go there at least once each weekend.
A very airy white styled cafe on High Street with some creative use of hanging plants. Just had a quick coffee and cake to tide me over between lunch and dinner. Service was very casual while the coffee and cake was quite serious. Grab the big 9 seater table smack bang in the middle if you are going to read the paper. A nice spot indeed like so many around this area.
Could not enjoy this place more, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, top notch coffee and excellent service. An important part of the Thornbury community
Delicious broccolini and gruyere omelette and crispy kale! Yum yum. Coffee is always good here. Great back room with space for our pram too.
I love having this place as my local hang out. They have the best coffee in the area and great fresh and tasty meal options. The whole space has a great feel - I particularly enjoy the back room and surprise courtyard!
Needed food before we headed to beach. Delicious hash browns. Iced lattes were great. Bit of a wait - but that’s understandable as so many cafes around closed and they are busy.
Will be back to eat in.

Great coffee and fresh juice. Chilli scramble egg was very flavourful and is probably the best one around here - the green sriracha is the star. Burrito breakfast was pretty good as well. Lovely services and ambience.

Hands down the best coffee in Thornbury maybe even Melbourne that I have had. The people are also lovely. Super busy today but yet still had smiles on their faces! Well worth the wait! Keep up the good work guys!
Really liked the omelette I ordered. Came with dukkah which added a nice flavour to dab and dip into.
Coffee was spot on.
Will come back for sure to try the other options available
Had the chilli scramble and it was great - actually hot in flavour unlike many chilli scrambles around town, with sriracha on top and it’s a great portion size. Has brown was tasty. Coffee was alright, interesting juices. Good customer service and dog-friendly it seemed (they were allowed inside at least)
These guys make THE BEST ham and cheese croissants I've ever had. I don't know what the secret is, but jebus they are good.
