Do not understand why my previous reviews have been erased so it should be the time to refill a new one.
Let me name the current business the second generation of Mama Malaya. Remember that I was the first one who wrote the review for the first generation and this local gem was then popular among Malaysian food lovers. The Chang of management had made me disappointed and I admitted that I missed the previous management. Having said that the second generation seems growing up now.
We went for re-visit in one of our vegetarian night in a group of three. Ordered one vegetarian hot & sour soup, roti with curry sauce, homemade tofu, mixed vegetarian Lo Han, Vegetarian Mapo tofu. Hero of the night was the Homemade Tofu, which was very silky. Other dishes were not bad at all. I think I have found a place to have vegetarian meals locally.

Eventually this lovely eatery re-opened after the change of new management so explored it last night. There was slightly face-lifted in and out of the restaurant and also some new items added on the menu. We ordered the Hainan Chicken rice, Char Keow Teow and Kang Kong with Belacan sauce. Dishes came to the table within reasonable timeframe. Portion of Hainan Chicken Rice seems not competitive to the other Malaysian restaurant around the area. However, fragrance of rice and chicken texture still save marks. Char Keow Teow and Kang Kong do earn our appreciation. Bothe dishes are full of “wok Qi”. Spiciness of Kang Kong is just perfectly good. Importantly, there are many “lard pieces” in the Char Keow Teow, which deserves our thumb-up.

Due to the fact that the Po Kwong Vegetarian Restaurant's production has declined, it made me a headache looking for another place to have dinner for my vege day around the area. All the sudden, I remember that this Malaysian eatery offers vegetarian options on their menu so gave it a go. This time we ordered the Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Char Kueh Teow (Veg option) and the Curry Laksa (Veg option). Spring Rolls came to the table first, which deserved thumb-up due to the crispy pastries. Char Kueh Teow is still full of "wok qi". Despite there is no meat in it, there is no influence on its taste. Same situation happens to the laksa, where the flavour and taste keeps its standard. We are so happy to find a place for our veg day dinner in the future..... LIKE LIKE LIKE

Revisited this impressive eatery for second review last night. Food production is no doubt in consistency. Passion from owner is the same as before. Food-wise... what should I say... it is speechless! Char Kueh Teow is full of "wok qi" and they do try to serve whatever ingredients as close as possible to those that I had in Malaysia . Very much appreciate to those fried lard pieces in the dish, which really bring the taste and authenticity to another level. Needless to say, the Laksa definitely deserves thumb-up & big LIKE! When it was presented on the table, the aroma of coconut attacked my olfactory sense immediately. Level of spiciness was just perfect to my palate. It was so tasteful....
Salute!

Recently have been to four different Malaysian restaurants and this one year's old baby should be the first one that I recommend other foodies to try if they are Malaysian food fans. Located near the Pu Kwong Vegetarian restaurant next to a service station, this low profile restaurant shines its glory around the Underwood & Springwood area. Running by a passionate couple, the only comment of the food are authentic and home-made, just like you have your mum prepare your dinner at home. Ordered the Roti Chanai with Chicken Curry, Char Kueh Teow and Har Mee. All of them are superb. Love the fluffiness of the Roti and the specific curry taste, love the hawker style and "Wok Qi" of the Kueh Teow and super thumb-up with the Har Mee and I could taste that they reduce the prawn heads in the soup base. Whoever said that a small shop could not produce good food should be a fool !!!
The food here is excellent. This is real Malaysian food, very authentic. I can recommend the rendang, kari asam and sambal fish. The curry puffs are perfect. It's the only restaurant here that I've seen that offers popiah (giant spring rolls filled with veggies) - really good. They do home delivery via EatNow and they are quick to deliver. Highly recommended.
