One of my favorite chicken chance. Amazing and superb salad , different kind of sauce and their roasted chicken always good
An absolute institution, even outside of being a chicken shop.
Almost every night of the week the store is packed full of people ordering their delicious chicken and salads.
You won’t be disappointed!
Chargrill Charlie’s is a family owned business that has been operating for over 30 years. Beginning in Coogee, they’ve branched out and although no longer in Coogee, they’ve got 11 venues across Sydney and open 7 days a week. We visited our closest store, the Woollahra venue. It is both a dine in and takeaway venue and they are always super busy. This is testament to just how good the food is. At first it might look like your typical charcoal chicken shop, but it is much more than that with amazing salads, veggies, burgers and desserts and it will have you salivating for more.
Great salads!! And the chicken 😘 it’s always busy but the service is great and quick. It’s worth the wait. Recommend the chicken dinners as it’s great value for money too

Good quality feed for what they are, and that is as a takeaway chicken shop. Food is good and fresh reasonably priced with pretty efficient service
Was not expecting to see so much food when I walked in the door at Chargrill Charlie's! With a range of salads, curries, chicken, burgers and an incredible dessert, I can understand why people revisit multiple times.
Marinated Drumsticks had a beautiful, sticky gloss on them and a rich flavour. Meat was juicy but would've liked if they had marinated them longer so the flavour could've soaked through the meat as well. Devil Wings were the right level of spicy to wake me up and I thoroughly enjoyed the crispy skin.
Loved loved loved the Mango Chicken Curry! Not something I've had before, the colour looked spectacular and the generous amount of curry smothering the chicken pieces gave the dish a sweet and creamy taste. The cold Wonton salad was refreshing and I enjoyed the flexibility of being able to eat the wontons with or without a sauce. The Japanese Coleslaw was vibrant and again added a freshness to the table that complemented well with the heaviness of the curries and chicken. Meatballs were flavoursome but were a little on the dry side.
I liked the distinct layers in the New York Burger and thought it was a nice, classic burger to have on the menu. A sauce would have gone great in there too to tie everything together.
With dessert, you can opt to get a small or large apple pie crumble. The filling was warm and gooey with a lovely sweetness. The crumble on top added texture but also had a nice flavour to it too. Personally I found the crust on top a little difficult to break through but this was only a minor detail.
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the food here. Staff are lovely, in particular, manager Aey who took the time to explain the menu items and catered to our every needs. I would definitely return to Chargrill Charlie's Woollahra and venture to their other branches too!

My thanks to Chargrill Charlie's Woollahra and Daniel for the invite.
The story of Chargrill Charlie’s began in 1989 when the first store opened in Rose Bay. Over the next two decades the brand expanded to nine stores across Sydney passing on the baton of a winning formula from one to another. This is a family run business and their tight-knit team are at the heart of its success; most staff at the Woollahra store have been there for more than seven years. On the busy Saturday night we visited, they worked seamlessly at each post to tackle the relentless stream of dine-in, takeaway and home delivery orders.
Last day of summer called for sweet treats like these Double Thick smoothies and fresh baked apple pie. Fantale and mint crisp flavours were both awesome - really loved the mint chunks.
When you walk along Queen Street at dinner time, especially on the weekdays, this chicken shop is easily the busiest foodstore. It is always packed with people waiting to grab some delicious and easy dinner. The chicken comes succulent and flavoursome. The selection of salads to accompany your chicken is countless. Definitely worth a try if you're around the area.
Best bbq chickens around. Prepare to wait as this place is always so busy which means the food is always super fresh. Their bbq chickens with stuffing (naughty I know) are so delicious and paired with one of their amazing salads is a perfect combo. The rice pudding is also super scrumptious.
