Great food and service. The tasting menu had plenty of variety and was generous enough for two big eaters. All staff were knowledgeable, attentive without being overbearing and genuinely friendly. Each dish had multiple elements, but never felt over over complicated or faddish. Can't wait to go back!

We came here for my birthday and loved it. Every single plate of food was incredibly tasty and so delicate and pretty. Our waiter was really lovely and looked after us beautifully. As there were only 2 of us, we sat at the bar looking into the kitchen and it was like watching a ballet. We loved it and will definitely be back

We went here for our anniversary date last night after a recommendation from a friend. As soon as we stepped into the restaurant we were taken back to Japan with the decor upstairs, and an open style kitchen with Japanese chefs focusing on their courses with diligence. There’s also a yakitori bar downstairs that we will be back for.
Due to covid-19 they were only offering their set menus as an option. It was between a $55 for four courses or $75 for six including dessert. We opted for more food of course!
Entree was a raw salmon with wasabi oil, salt and vinegar nori chips, spicy mushroom and eggplant noodles, and pot sticker dumplings. Main was a teriyaki chicken with smoked cream and roasted onions, grilled leek and whelk oil, and a curry fried bread. Dessert was a black sesame and berry cheesecake.
I have to say I enjoyed every single dish that we were served. My favourite was the teriyaki chicken as it brought another level of tasty to an iconic dish with the smoky cream, spit roasted chicken and sauce that you lapped up with the bread.
Portions were perfect and the dishes were spaced out so you felt satisfied at the end.
Cannot recommend Shobosho enough.

Went here for a date and it’s got to be one of the most fun dates we’ve had! We were super lucky to get in as we didn’t reserve but the staff were super nice and the food was incredible!

This place was recommended to us by a friend who visited Adelaide and told us how amazing this place was. We went for a special occasion and decided on the, let us feed you option (5 courses) for 4 people. The restaurant is minimalist and looks and feels like you have stepped out of a laneway in Tokyo into a restaurant. The presentation of the food was as amazing as expected.
4 highlights were the Tasmanian Salmon, tatami, ponzu and wasabi. The cold Shanghai noodles, spiced chicken, mushroom, black vinegar, crispy chilli and sesame. The spiced pork and cabbage potsticker dumpling. Spit roast teriyaki chicken, bbq onions, miso creamed corn and wood baked shallot bread. The teriyaki chicken was tender and the best teriyaki chicken I have ever had.
Service was excellent. Wine menu was good. Definitely a hidden hem on Leigh Street.

Must try restaurant in Adelaide! I’m not often amazed by every dish that I’ve ordered at a restaurant, but at Shobosho every dish was better than the last. Everything on the menu is so full of flavour with a modern take on traditional Japanese favourites. The Garfish in Crab Congee and Teriyaki Chicken mains introduced new an exciting flavour combinations that I wouldn’t have thought to put together, but somehow work so well. Shobosho also has an extensive drinks menu, bringing together Japanese classics such as sake and plum wine, while showcasing wine some of the local wine regions. This place is worth trying out!

Finally! I made it to Shobosho! Been on the list for ages! Happy face!

We did not book, so were seated at the bar right in front of the kitchen and chefs! Interesting place to be! Every seat was taken at lunch time.

Loved it, loved everything about it, great atmosphere, great service, like you have stepped into a restaurant in Japan! Exactly the same concept! Awesome.

Food was delish, however, it’s a bit pricy for what it is, I thought a bit of leek for $17 was a bit much, tasted nice (a bit of salt was needed on the leek), maybe 2 pieces would be better value!

Had the salt & vinegar chips, very nice, but overpowered by the (I think) seaweed powder, only needs a little sprinkle, otherwise yum. Dumplings are good, the chicken oyster dish is a standout and the pork katsu sandwich is totally overrated, would be better with Japanese bread and more dressing.

I would certainly return to try other dishes that were whizzing past me, because I just have to!

Definitely worth a visit!

Love the atmosphere here - being able to see the kitchen and the flames jumping around adds something to your dining experience. The menu has a variety of plates from smaller to larger and we gradually worked our way down the menu. The dumplings and the pork katsu sandwich are must haves. All the meals were great for sharing and were delicious. Excellent service all through lunch.

One of the most innovative dishes we’ve ever had. The portions are definitely small but they’re perfect for us as we can try a lot of different dishes instead of sticking to one big meal. We started with 4 small dishes - Salt, Vinegar & Nori Potato Chips; Octopus, Black Sesame, Wasabi Cucumbers, Mentaiko; Raw Tuna, Edamame, Black Rice, Bonito Cream, Grilled Nori; Tasmanian Salmon Tataki, Ponzu, Wasabi - loved every one of them. But if I have to have favorites then it’ll be those crispy and light chips & fresh well seasoned tuna. I’m not a fan of wasabi but the wasabi cucumbers and the ones in the salmon were not over powering and worked really well with the dishes. Amazing! Next we had White Kimchi dumplings and Spiced Pork dumplings and the kimchi dumplings were so innovative without being weird, definitely another favorite of mine. We ended our meal with the Salt & Pepper Flounder which was crispy, salty (which I love) and cooked to perfection. So although they are all small portions, we were quite full in the end so decided to skip dessert. Overall - amazing food! They change menu regularly so I’m looking forward to go back and try what else they have to offer.

A truly unique and extremely delicious experience. I usually frown upon ‘fusion’ cuisine but these dishes were original and full of flavour. Favourites were the fish kaarage, korean gnocchi and the surprisingly light passionfruit cheesecake. The feed me menu $65 each was definitely worth it.

We dined in on Easter Monday after making a booking online. We needed to make a last minute adjustment on the time and number of diners, and they were very helpful in accommodating our request. The food was amazing at Shobosho! Simple and quality ingredients turned into uniquely scrumptious dishes. Everything we ordered here had amazing flavours. The fried rice, chicken and eggplant were all great, and complimented each other perfectly as well.

They are amazing. We were so glad we sat next to the bar - seeing chefs are cooking/producing a great amount of the foods in order which was quite entertaining to watch. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Foods are great, very generous amount. We saw a lot of leek/eggplants dishes were going out - wish we ordered them too. Willing to come back & highly recommended

Simply stunning. The team are incredible to watch sitting at the bar inn front of the kitchen. A well oiled machine with everyone working in perfect synchronicity. The wine list is small but with great choices across all price bands. The food (THE FOOD) was incredible. I have to say I love Japanese and given we haven't visited this restaurant before, we decided on the feed me package. It was incredible. Generous servings, flavours and presentation that lifts this restaurant well above the average excellent Japanese restaurant. There was a line at 9pm so be sure to book. Seating inside or out is available. I only rate awesome and horrid. This place was at the pointy end of awesome. Happy eating

Six stars. If only that were possible. This is my FAVOURITE restaurant in the country!!!! I live in Canberra and dine in Melbourne and Sydney a lot (that consulting life…) and this place outshines the best of the best across the country. The staff are so friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant. They are easily the best in the game (especially Peta). Her service, knowledge and communication was sensational. She really made our evening special. I also can’t get over the prices. Silver service places charge more and they WISH their food and service was this good!! Hardy’s Verandah Restaurant, for example, charges more but their food and service is nowhere near as good. Sean’s Kitchen also wishes they could serve red meat as good as the aged ribs here (they can’t and Sean’s Kitchen prices are a joke for the quality of food they serve - go to Shobosho and get the Aged Ribs instead). The food is amazing, cooked to perfection with beautiful flavours and amazing presentation. The aged ribs was the stand out dish, although everything we had was 10/10. Even the bread was something special. The atmosphere, food and staff make this a truly special place that I would come back to time and time again.

Wonderful place for a fancy dinner! Only a short wait between dishes even though it was quite busy, and service was exceptional. We picked our dishes to share instead of the feed me options. Large selection of different dishes (most made to share) on the menu, with some being more generously sized than others. For the price point everything lived up to, and even exceeded our expectations!

Awesome atmosphere and great food. Favourites were definitely the rib steak and Teri chicken. Amazingly curated favours for the mains. Sando and crab udon was delicious too although bit pricey for the small portion for those 2 items

Menu is simple and effective with some of the dishes. Eggplant was delicious, leek was so over cooked only 40% of the dish was edible. Oysters were great, along with the Salmon. Chicken was pink and blushed for 40% of the dish, very chewy and hard to cut and eat. Apparently it’s Sous vide for 24hrs, according to the staff. Not sure how accurate this is? However it was really blush and hard to cut through. We left it. Worth a visit but order wisely.

Food and service was amazing! Each dish was innovative and well balanced. I wish we had come here earlier so we could go back again. Will definitely be back when we're in Adelaide!
