I love Mopho canteen and I am a regular customer. Once you taste the fried cauliflower you will be hooked. I literally dream about it.
What’ stands out for me with this pho joint is that the restaurant’s broth is unique compared to the stock standard pho you usually get around Melbourne. Mopho Canteen’s pho has a more of a pungent fish sauce aroma and taste. It’s brilliant. I reckon I’ve eaten here at least 5 times now and can’t go wrong with their signature “Mo Pho”. Filling , comforting and somewhat I brainwashed myself believing I’m eating something healthy with the amount of bok choy and tofu served in the dish. Just make sure you get table water for yourself because the saltiness can be intense (which is absolutely flavoursome) to quench your thirst after a few mouthfuls. Pretty good stuff.
Review based off of an UberEats order last night - one of the best pho's I've had in Melbourne, the broth was layered and to die for! I was feeling in the mood for a pho but being lazy I decided to order food online but will definltey make a visit and dine in next time round. We were feeling pretty hungry so ordered x2 beef pho's with extra beef, sweet potato fries with sriracha mayo, x2 kombucha's and a crispy pork bahn mi. Being that we live fairly close by our meal came on time and within 25 minutes!
I normally am quite wary of ordering online as portions can be disproportionate to what is served when you dine in, or food is not as appetising as you'd hope (i.e. food is either soggy or put together in a rush). Mopho Canteen packed the food so well - I was delighed! Broth was still seeping hot too - it was perfect!
All of the food was divine - sweet potato fries were still hot and crispy; and when dipped into the mayo had a slight hint of heat to it. Pho was awesome and really hit the spot. My partner wolfed down the bahn mi which was testament to how tasty it was. I managed to sneak in some crispy pork filling (which was tangy and crispy!).
Overall I'd put this as a place to definitely come for pho next time. Food was delicious.
I've been here a about a million times. The food is always delicious. Especially the spring rolls, the Cauliflower and the outstanding Beef Pho.

Small restaurant . Quiet atmosphere . Friendly staff and pretty good pho soup.
They also have a very good spicy sauce.
The broth was delicious !
Seriously the best pho! Never ever disappoints. The broth is to die for! I often order online and also dine in. Cool little spot to eat in at, doesn't feel awkward if you dine alone either.
Love the vegan pho, always jam packed with leafy goodness, service is good and spring rolls are mouth watering. Quick, easy and warming. Would be good to have more condiments on the table to add to the pho, not everyone is into the chilli.
This place is great! Great value for money, the food is fresh and tastes delicious. Love the Vietnamese salads and recommend this place for anyone who who wants a quick and reasonably priced meal!
I've been a couple of times, had the spicy beef salad and the soft shell crab salad. Was ok, but to be honest the salads were almost entirely herbs. Really needed a bit of substance because mouthfuls of coriander don't make a meal. Good happy hour special.
I love this restaurant. The banh mi is a must, as is the pho. I come here probably once or twice a week, I love the beef brisket banh mi, the bread roll is tasty and fresh, soft on the inside and just the right amount of crispy on the outside. The servings are huge too! Great value and great taste. One of my favourites in balaclava :)
