Seems to be a church on Sundays and a cafe the rest of the week. The front garden under the trees overlooking the street is the big attraction, despite also attracting bugs. The staff were great, the coffee was creamy but weirdly flavoured and served in a hot cup without a handle, the bacon and egg roll was rather tasty (although salty) and in a good bun, so the high prices might be acceptable.
Their daily selection of muffins are the best thing i have ever eaten, theyre all incredible and a must have. Also a lovely atmosphere thats really casual. Great place to just sit and relax
After a terrible experience in one of the cafe in the area, we decided to have food in here. Very welcoming and friendly service, they can get flexible whatever you ask! Food is basic and nothing too exciting but the ambiance and service makes up for it! If they come up with some creative dishes, this place would be perfect.
Nice spot on Darling Street, Balmain to enjoy coffee and a bite to eat. The cafe is set back from the street, with a pleasant shaded area out front from which to watch the world go by.

Darling Street in Balmain has you spoiled for choices these days. With an array of shops, pubs, bars and restaurants, it’s both trendy and popular. Quite a difference to what was considered a wharfie’s suburb all those years ago. Despite the myriad of eateries, Casual Monday’s definitely stands out from the crowd. Right on famous Darling Street, they’re located within the Balmain Uniting Church (but they operate separately to the Church). The building is quite beautiful, Medieval even, with high ceilings and grandiose fireplaces, a perfect spot for those colder autumn or winter days that are coming up.We arrived for brunch on a sunny Saturday morning and chose to sit outside in the beautiful garden, underneath a giant tree offering natural shade from the sun. As we took our seats, we noticed a colourful hammock swinging quietly and we could even hear a few birds chirping in the background - such a good vibe to enjoy a meal. We thought we’d start with a drink and today, rather than a coffee, we were looking for a juice or smoothie. Fortunately for us, Casual Monday’s has quite selection of both to choose from (Count N couldn’t keep his mind off the Nutella milkshake on the menu) but after a few internal debates, we both chose a juice. Count N loves everything green, so it’s no surprise he went for the Super Green Juice, a refreshing mix of spinach, kiwi, apple, pear and mint. It tasted great and the mint added a real cooling sensation. Count J loves ginger so he opted for the Italian style juice. With fresh carrot and orange, it had a good mix of flavours. Both juices were obviously fresh and bursting with colour. If you like mixing and matching flavours, you are also able to build your own juice as well. There were quite a few options available. As we finished our juices, our food arrived.
Great coffee here. Spoke to the barista and it is a special blend imported in, roasted in Melbourne and extracted with care. Hard for me to rate the food as I had a breakfast wrap of scrambled eggs and mushrooms which isn't exactly a challenge to make. Others at the table were very pleased with their choice. Outdoor seating under the trees or on the verandah suit the mood for a leisurely meal. Friendly staff also.
Very charming streetside Cafe on Darling St, Balmain which serves breakfast and lunch, and perfect for people watching and relaxing. Ordered the special of the day, which is sweet potato, halloumi, fritata and poached eggs, together with a juice of orange, apple and mint. Absolutely delicious. The friendly waitress provided excellent service. Worth coming back again.
Lovely, friendly staff. We had the pulled pork burger and ricotta lemon pancakes. Quick and excellent service. Food was amazing, super tasty and beautifully presented. I have been twice and would definitely go back. The apples slaw
The place is spacious very cute. The food was great and the service was fantastic especially the friendly Italian guy who also recommended some places to visit in Sydney. Will defiantly go back :)
