I visited the restaurant in search of some Indian food. It was a pleasant surprise to find it very original Indian food with right flavors. I find this food and taste to be much above any other place. They specialize in individual tastes quite a lot and care for it. Very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. One place to feel India in Melbourne.
We took my mother & family for Mother's Day lunch, the food was so delicious, the service excellent. I've eaten here a few times and also had my mother's 85th Birthday here. The staff are very welcoming. We plan to book for next Mother's Day. I highly recommend Chimes if you love authentic Indian cuisine.

absolutely love this place. great service and food consistently, normally mrs is very picky with Indian food loves it too! awesome value too for both food and drinks.
If I could I would give this a 3.5. Food here was pretty good, both the eggplant and the butter chicken was ok and the lamb chops were well spiced.
Friendly staff.We had veg samosa and goat masala and chicken vindaloo and nann and garlic nann. The curry was very nice but nann was bit burned and bit lighter than I usually have.
Travelled to Melbourne with family and was craving Indian food. Chimes turned out to be an amazing experience with great service and environment. The food was amazing with a taste of home away from home!
Amazing quality, I always get the butter chicken and cheesy nan bread! Highly recommended with big portions and fair priced, if you're in the area definitely drop in
Let's put it this way. I live in Epping, there is a decent Indian community there and decent food. But i would rather travel all the way to Balwyn to have the amazing food at Chimes. Currently the winning Indian restaurant in all of Melbourne in my books. I wasn't always a fan of them. Went there a handful of times 4-5 years ago. Their food was a disappointment for the prices you paid. But now, their food is delicious! I asked one of the waiters and he said it was their new tandoor chef. My fav dishes to order are the paneer tikka, chicken tikka (both entrees), plain naan, daal (yellow) and the Pistachio Kulfi - hands down best kulfi I've had outside of India! Enjoy!
We decided to order three curries to share between the three of us. I chose a vegetarian curry, the ‘Malai Kofta – cottage cheese and potato dumplings in a subtle gourmet sauce ($13.90)’.

Started with a cocktail wich was really well made!.. very friendly staff...🍸

Chef himself visited us at table and helped with selection and suggestions. Not sure if somehow he was reading our minds !!!! All the food from Entres to mains arrived in right time and was cooked to perfection!
Tandoori Mushrooms, lamb cutlets and chicken tikka as entre were allllll so yummy! Meats were soft, juicy and melted in your mouth!
Main we ordered butter chicken, I had them before either too thick, too dry, too watery! But this one was THE BEST BUTTER CHICKEN I ever had. Vibrant colour, juicy chicken and creamy!!!! Don't miss out...
We also ordered another lamb dish by suggestion of the Chef himslef which was a new experience, but yummy!!.you could say all were fresh ingredients! And last meal, ICE CREAMS!!!😍
It is obvious the Chef knows his business and stuff.
We appreciated the fact that he engaged himself into our dining expereince and took it to the next level! He also invited us to complimentary shots of liquor as we were the last to leave!!!!!

"Chimes" was booked in it's entirety for a family function of around 50 adults and children.
The staff were friendly and courteous throughout the process of setting up of electronic equipment for the function and throughout the function itself, ensuring a family friendly, enjoyable night.
The food was delicious, served as a buffet. Every dish had its own unique flavour.
Although it was a cold night outside, the restaurant was comfortably heated.
There was a fair amount of room for guests to mingle and dance and for an Elvis impersonator to entertain us.
We had an amazing night and I am recommending this restaurant for evening functions.

A great Indian restaurant with amazing menu. All the food we tried were all delicious and yummy in tummy. Chicken tikka, butter chicken, beef vindaloo to note a few among the vast menu. All freshly made and I must say the chef knows his business when it comes to Indian dishes. The Nans especially the butter and cheese ones are so yummy and will melt in your tummy. They have many other varieties of Indian breast and rice as well.
They have a great collection of wines, beer and hard liquor. And have coffee bar indoors.
The choice of desserts are limited but are delicious. Gulan jamun with ice cream, the different verities kulfies, carrot halwa to name a few.
A great place for couples, family and bachelors. The staff is very friendly and make you feel home. The ambience is good with instrumental bolly wood classics playing in the background.
10kms off Melbourne CBD in Balwyn North, is worth a drive to enjoy the delicacy.

Had a lovely dinner here and the place was cutely decorated for Valentine’s Day. The food was mouth watering and the staff were super friendly and really went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant experience. Will definitely be back soon.
