Magnificent night for Valentines. The French staff were a delight, the food devine and a nice touch with the red rose at each table. My partner and I shared scallops for entree, cooked in the shell and lovely. I had the steak, a scotch fillet cooked perfectly medium rare and the pepper sauce was the best I’ve had. Oh and the espresso martini!! So good we had two. Thanks to all staff.
We were visiting the area from the Blue Mountains and had an amazing meal here this week! The atmosphere is lovely and warm and the food was impressive! Have to recommend the Ile Flottante for dessert - gorgeous flavours and textures with an amazingly soft butterscotch meringue floating in a creme anglaise with crunchy praline on top! A queen of a dessert! A memorable evening with impeccable service! Thanks for having us!
Very good food and service on a quiet Sunday night. I had the special duck with currant sauce. Partner had the lamb in pastry. Mussels dish was too salty as others reviewed. Wine and cheeses amazing. Also chicken liver parfait.
We love Voltaire's whenever we are having a reason for a special meal out. The service is great, the menu is well faceted and the food has been consistently delish. A great option for dining in Belgrave x
Had a great experience visiting Le Voltaire for the first time. The place looks and feels fantastic and the service from the staff is top notch. Everything on the menu looks delicious and picking just a couple of things is tough. I had stuffed mushrooms for entree and the apple stuffed pork for main and both were good.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. Nice atmosphere and the food was great. The butterscotch meringue for dessert was delicious. If anything it's a tad pricey, but that won't stop us from going back but we'll take our own wine next time.
Truly delicious. Our second time back there and all 3 courses were amazing, probably my 2nd favourite restaurant in Melbourne! Recommend the sous vide eye fillet .

My husband came here a little while ago, and it definitely will not be the last time. We ordered the escargot, filet de boeuf, and cannard du cassoulet, plus some wines, a couple of cocktails, and the most incredible bread you have ever tasted (which they make in-house). I have zero complaints about either the food, nor the staff... who were amazingly accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly. The only complaint I have (which isn't even a complaint), is that they didn't have any of their bread left for us to take home, because it was so good! Love this place. It's good to see the hills having a genuine fine-dining restaurant with incredible food, and seasonal produce.
This restaurant is just divine. The staff are warm and welcoming and the traditional menu is well executed, particularly the steak frites and the crème brulee. You must go if you are in the area.
I really enjoyed my night at this restaurant. The atmosphere was relaxed, the staff friendly and food was served promptly. When our food arrived, I wanted to eat them all just from the looks. I don't think anyone was disappointed with the wonderfully rich food - as you should expect from French cuisine. Will be coming back here again.
Really enjoyed an excellent steak and chips followed by a great creme brulee. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Hope this place has a long future.
A delightful find in Belgrave. Gorgeous little restaurant full or atmosphere and an authentic approach. Lovely young lady looked after us with a professional but friendly approach. The food was the star, as it should be and what a delight it was. I normally could not indulge in 3 courses, yet we did and it was magnificent. A sign of great food is the next day not feeling full even after indulging. An absolute quality establishment and can’t wait to visit when in the area again.
Lovely French Restaurant! Wonderful staff, delicious food. Make sure you top up your back account though, very pricey.

Fantastic! Elegant! Magnifique! From the prompt kind witty service, to the "best garlic bread ever" (quote from my eldest) to the gourmet cheese to the exquisite crafted main meals and impressive specials menu going beyond the french classics, to the finely balanced desserts and then the live jazz that had us dancing at the table... I thoroughly recommend!
Expensive, but high quality food. Overall, you get what you pay for. Had the Rib-eye with wine sauce, french fries included in price.
Wonderful restaurant, friendly staff, nice design and atmosphere. We have tried several dishes and enjoyed them all.
Particularly with mentioning are the Terrine, Scotch Fillet, and Beef Medallions.
Prices are as expected from a high end French restaurant (about $70-$100 pp).
Great food & service BUT …
- No vegetables with main meals, had to be ordered separately with extra charge, though they did taste great.
- Main steak meal served with French fries, which are not really French, other potato choice would have been much more authentic.
- Small tables for couples squished together on Valentine’s Day, we almost felt the breath of couples next to us …
- Tip option being specifically mentioned when paying was rude.
Again the food was very tasty.
We enjoyed our visit very much, the service and the food were great.
