It's good to start the Xmas break eating at a local cafe. Cos lots of cafes will not be open until end of Jan. Enjoy and have a merry Christmas
I go to this cafe regularly and LOVE their chilli scrambled eggs. So much so I’ve actually never had anything else on the menu! Coffee is always good too.
Great service by PJ, Remmi , lights, Ricciardo and the team. Best coffee and smiles this side of East Melbourne
Just an honest, humble suburban cafe. Even walking in there is such a nice atmosphere to the place. Service is always really nice, and coffee tasted damn good this morning. Today I tried some food, grabbed a chicken pie to heat at home. Holy crap - what a generous serve for $11. Absolutely delicious, and a huge side salad with an awesome mustard dressing in a tub to add later (thank you for the extra touches). No doubt in my mind that I will be back again to try more. Thanks Rubix!!!

Love this little brunch spot! The chicken bao is definitely a top recommendation and the hungry badger is incredibly satisfying.
Quality of food is always consistent!
Fantastic cafe! Service is great and the food never disappoints, particularly the breakfasts. Can't fault any of the the experiences here. It's quite popular in the mornings so it pays to get there before the school drop off crowd arrive.
Lovely neighbourhood cafe. Friendly service, and good value tasty meals. Our favourite was the chicken sliders/pao, which was delicious! Coffee was good and staff are friendly.
We called into Rubix on recommendation from someone who lives close by. The cafe was located in a quiet strip of shops that I had never paid much attention to. The cafe was quite busy when we arrived but after a short wait we were offered a seat by the window and that was perfect for me. I ordered the Hungry Badger which came with chorizo, eggs, hash brown, avo and beetroot relish (basically a big breakfast). KD ordered the pancake stack. Both came out promptly. I enjoyed my meal and the addition of the relish & avo made a joe average breakfast a little more interesting. The pancakes were a stunning looking breakfast and the sauce was a delight . Coffee was a good strength and we didn't feel rush to leave our table.
Cute small cafe.
Fast service.
Only one written vegan option - the superfood bowl with quinoa, mixed veg in an almond butter dressing.
It was creamy, sweet & tangy - nice and light although I wouldn’t mind paying more for a larger portion.
Hubby had the pulled pork tacos which he said was nice.
Kids had ginger bread men and a fried egg on toast - all devoured.
A surprisingly good suburban cafe in Box Hill North, Rubix has really matured over the years, into a trendy local favourite for morning coffee and quality lunches and breakfasts with friends. Rubix is owner-operated by a passionate young couple, who are professional yet modest and friendly. It's worth a drive to Box Hill North to see that location doesn't dictate the quality of the fare. I'd rather visit here than most cafes on Brunswick street.
Seasonal menus are added every season, with a mix of Asian flavors, great! The coffee is also very fragrant, and I like to be open until 4.30pm,and you can have afternoon tea after 2 o'clock.
This place is amazing. Not just great coffee but delicious food and consistently excellent service.
A perfect little gem. Piped by on way back from dancing school and was blown away by the service and food quality. Perfect balance of flavours with nothing being overpowered, especially cakes, which were not overbearing my sweet.
Taking my family there to celebrate a birthday.
The only amazing cafe around the area, open early 6:30am in the morning and close late in the afternoon after school 4:30pm.
Very tasty food, perfect coffee with excellent consist customer service everytime I walk in.
Went here for brunch today. While we really enjoyed the mains, the drinks we ordered weren't that great- matcha was over strong and with the wrong milk. Tea was fairly standard. A very busy atmosphere over lunch but we still found a place to sit and were able to talk easily. Would go here again, but would change the drink order.
Great little place. The service is great, warm and welcome. Outdoor table service. Staff all wear masks.
My husband brings me home a take away lactose free latte from Cafe Rubix at least one a week. During lock down we would take turns getting the coffee because it was our outing. Cafe Rubix is a bit of a community hub for the area not just a coffee shop. It’s always busy and you can see why.
