So delicious!!!!!
Best Hunan cuisine in Mel!!!!!
They finally open more space!!!
Love it!!!
Even the name is confusing but you will not bother once you try the food!
Being a Human person I admit It's really hard to find a good Hunan Chinese restaurant that offers near authentic Hunan food in Melbourne, luckily this happens to be one of them. Now I suspect the low rating is from the previous restaurant at the same location; anyways, if you come here thinking it's a typical spicy food then you might be surprised. To be honest, when people think of spicy Chinese food, Sichuan food is the default, and there are tones of them around and many are overrated. The difference is Hunan food has none of those tongue numbing pepers nor fancy names and presentation found in Sichuan dishes, just simplicity of ingredients, strong chilli enhanced taste, rich texture and tasty home/village style food- though not the most healthy I must say. You can find all the characteristics of Hunan food in this restaurant, yes not perfect but really close. So if you know what Hunan food is and likes them, this place is highly recommend, if you have no idea come and try. Be warned, spicy level in the dishes here is not for evryone. Cons? Service. Zomato doesn't allow a 4.5 otherwise, another new favourite for my family.
A good place for dessert.
Cold spicy ducks are good, however, worse than it used to be. Not spicy at all. And sometimes not fresh. It can be tasted easily.
Other dishes are average but it does not suit my taste.
In a word, good place among station st.
Been to this little eatery a few times. Food was always delicious and resonably priced. There' re less than 10 tables, busy during lunchtime, most customer leave straight after finishing their meal. I was a bit annoy with the wait time at first but the food was delicious, now I am happy to wait 30mins for a really nice just cook (not microwaved) dish.
I think they offer Taiwanese food because the rice dishes and noodle soups tasted like what I had tried in Taiwan. My favourites are the rice in soup dishes, I have yet to find a place offering this type of dish (except in Taiwan). Their beef brisket noodle soup also tasted better than other places. The bubble waffle (cook on the spot) and taro ball desert was really nice too, its not too sweet. The milk tea was ok. I love very spicy food but I CANNOT finish their dish lable with 3 chillis. Even the 1 chilli was very spicy, I think its due to the chilli combined with pepper. So if you're not a chilli fan, choose a dish with no chilli (may contain pepper though). Order at the counter, service is always curteous. Would definitely re-visit.
Update 17 Sep 2018. Restaurant is under new management for quite a while. Menus have changed.
Deciding to eat something exotic along with our simple main meals, Easy Cafe had a range of small dishes from duck neck, gizzard to chicken hearts and liver. We tried the duck tongue for funsies, though it was nothing really weird about it, just feels like eating skin of a soft bone.
We could have the thick toast because we were too full from dinner. Had grass jelly with other toppings instead and it's way better than dessert story! And the service is way better too! Definitely will be back to try the thick toast
Simple tasty food. The toast desserts are a signature dish. Maybe due to limited staff the dessert got late as the number of people in the restaurant increased
Nice small cafe in the heart of Box Hill, really enjoyed the spicy fish and prawn with rice dish. Highly recommend it.
Fun dessert. Definitely recommend this place. the honey toasts not only look amazing but are delicious too!
It is my first time to try this biangbiang noodle, which is a kind of traditional food from northwest China.!Nice experience!
This restaurant is really good, I have Tate Hunan style to the food, serving is too slow but you if you take the seat for a long time, you will find the food really delicious and tasty!
Love the hot and spicy food, warm the soul up every single time
